You never fully appreciate it when a child can make it to a trash can or the toliet to vomit until you have a child that doesn't. Stomach flu went around my house about a month ago. My 5 year old was a breeze, made it to the bathroom every single time. My 2 year old however, was a disaster! It was on the living room floor, the couch, every single blanket and towel in the house, bathroom floor, kitchen floor, me, her, my oldest daughter and her homework, my car, the cat, EVERYWHERE! It was like the exorcist came for a visit. I woke up in the middle of the night to my 2 year old climbing on me then puking all over my back. I will never complain about cleaning vomit from the toliet brim ever again LOL And I pray we are never plagued with the stomach flu again.

When my daughter was five, she really loved grapes, and one day she snuck a bag out of the fridge and ate the entire thing in her room. Of course she felt horrible a few hours later, and when I picked her up, she vomited half-digested grapes all over me -- my hair, my shoulders, my chest, everywhere. A few of them wound up down my shirt. I didn't realize a kid could produce that much puke. She got so sick that to this day she hates grapes.

Paul Tee Actually, alcohol was never involved. First time was in a car. We were at a location clearing out a moldy house and a lot of the people had gotten sick and the ones who didn't felt like shit. On our way home, one of the girls puked and we had to continue driving 2 more hours in the car. Second time was in a classroom. Girl sitting next to me was drinking a protein shake and we were watching Bizarre foods and one of the episodes they juiced a turtle. Was apparently too gross for her and she puked. Third time my ex boyfriend was sick and I came to comfort him. He didn't puke on me but I still got puke on my from trying to walk him to the bath room and clean him up.

The Gatorade idea is for replenishing electrolytes. You can drink Pedialyte which is an electrolyte beverage for toddlers and such, but marathon runners and athletes have been known to drink it too. Pedialyte has less sugar in it so it can be easier on the stomach it also has less dyes in it too.

Way late to the party, but ketchup/tomato juice/paste gets rid of smells. Anything with tomato juice in it. That's what they recommend for skunks and stuff and it really works for all sorts of nasty smells. Just pour some on your hands, rub it around. Then your hand smells like tomatoes for a few hours, but that is a smell that will wash away easily with soap.

I have a 5 year old son, so I can totally relate to this. A few months ago he randomly, and most unexpectedly, got up from the couch, walked across the living room to the other couch where my fiance was sitting, vomited all over the throw pillow, the couch, *and* my fiance...right before I scooped him up and brought him to the bathroom to finish his business; and mere days after he did the exact same thing on the exact same couch. (Luckily I own black leather couches.) You gotta catch them in the act and guide them in the right direction, otherwise they will vomit wherever they see fit (floor, carpet, couch, bed, etc.) ...and even when it's least expected and certainly most unavoidable. Lol, unfortunately, but truthfully. I also have, stashed in my glove compartment, two plastic bags for days when my son is not feeling well and I think there's a chance he'll be sick in the car.. Fortunately, I've only had to resort to them once. Oh the joys of being a parent! Parents of babies be warned -- you think baby puke is bad.....HA! Just wait for it. -- I also have a 12 month old daughter and I would willingly clean up five of her messes over one of my son's ;)

I'm surprised that Link didn't have his child keep a pan in arm's reach after the first time. Anytime anyone in our family has ever felt like throwing up or actually thrown up, we would have a pan next to us on the couch, next to the bed, or anywhere else that we went just in case. It might have saved him from such an unpleasant experience, because then he could have just held the pan in front of his kid's mouth instead of putting his hand there!

This reminds me of one of my birthday parties at the pools. In the pools i had my party at there is a section where you can just float around in a continuous circle like a whirlpool. Me and my friends had free time at this point so we decided to go to the whirlpools again and then we saw a little girl vomiting in the sitting area of the whirlpool and her father trying to cover her mouth to stop the vomiting. So we got out of the pool and i looked like i had seen a ghost. Pure white face blue lips and shivering. At least Link was at home,No-one really wants to see a father desperately trying to stop the vomit flow on their birthday especially if they have a fear of vomit.
