Timing starts on selecting a file. Timing ends at the top of the final staircase when the screen has faded completely to white. Exact time: 40:41.783
Note that "Warpless" refers to prohibiting exploits such as "Screen Warping" and "Wrong Warping", rather than the fast travelling warps in the overworld which are considered fair game. Additional restrictions include the ban of System Transitions (transitioning between different caves or dungeons through Out of Bounds means), the Super Swim glitch that lets you walk through walls, and finally screen transitioning on a solid tile where you would otherwise be unable to move.

It's incredible that at a high enough level to play like this I can't tell the difference between a TAS or an actual god playing the game lol. Excessive skill and magic are nearly indiscernible to the average Joe I guess. Awesome run. By the way, this came up more than a few times where you kind of just... glitched into a cliff wall (usually by using an enemy and whacking it with your sword if it bounced, like the flowers in Angler's Tunnel), but how did you do that at 20:41? It just looks like you kept jumping into walls then fell through one. Also how did you destroy the pillars in Eagle Tower? I'm assuming there's something you're doing with bomb throwing that tricks the game into doing the "crushed by ball" script?

The jumps over the walls are known as Super Jumps, they can be done on any wall that is considered a ledge tile. You need to clip at least one pixel into the wall which can typically be done by just walking into the corner of it, and then using something to change Link’s jumping direction to go away from the wall in mid-air (such as a Sword slash, arrow shot, or in that case jump and hold against the wall and then switch direction to away). This basically gives you a ledge hop on top of the jump mid-air which lets you go over walls and other things as well. In the particular trick that you linked, we basically do a Super Jump left, Super Jump right and then fall down the ledge to the left normally to end up clipped into the left wall. From there another Super Jump right gets us up the wall for us to fall down and get the key. ------------------ The trick in Eagle’s Tower is a bit more complicated technically, but in short using two bombs very quickly together messes with some parts of memory and can cause events to be triggered on screens without their normal pre-requisite. It is also used to initiate Ocarina cutscenes for instance since we never obtain it in the run. Normally the game won’t let you use two bombs quickly since there is a limit of only one until it explodes, but if you mash them quickly into a pit or use one right before a screen transition and immediately after then it fulfills the requirement.

@@Nitroz11 I see. That makes sense. It's funny how all walls look like cliffs, but they actually are and do function as such if you get in the right part apparently, lol. I see the Eagle Tower trick is used even better later when you get the Magic Rod. Too many objects prevent even new enemies? Since I saw bosses (like the Genie or Facade) not appearing as you used the Magic Rod a lot before going into their rooms. Are these tricks exclusive to the GB one or are they present in DX as well?

@@mr.number9279 The trick in Eagle's Tower and the Magic Rod deloads are two seperate things. The former is used to trigger certain events or cutscenes on a screen while the latter is used to despawn objects on a screen. The way it works is that you use the Magic Rod, and then on the very next frame open the Inventory Menu. This will clone the shots infinitely and fill up the objects slots in memory, preventing enemies from spawning like how you describe. This trick is only possible in this way on the GB version, while the Eagle's Tower trick can be done in both GB and DX.

Actually what's going on at 27:59? Isn't that a wrong warp or System Transition?

Apologies for the late response. This trick looks fishy but is actually neither a Wrong Warp nor a System Transition. Since we haven't beaten the miniboss due to deloading it originally, the doors to the room still close when we go down a screen after obtaining the Nightmare Key, but since we are never intended to exit that screen downwards with the doors closing, it actually sort of pushes us upward and underflows Link's position which causes him to essentially pull off a Screen Wrap. I will put a link below to what the map of Dungeon 8 actually looks like and why pulling of the Screen Wrap to transition downwards puts us in that filler room that contains the L-2 Power Bracelet; it's just what all the Out-of-Bounds rooms in Dungeon 7 and 8 happen to look like (in earlier dungeons it is just an empty square room). It looks very similar to a screen present normally in Dungeon 7, but since it is just an Out-of-Bounds room inside Dungeon 8 in this case, it does not break the *System Transition* rule as we are still in the Dungeon 8 system. A *Wrong Warp* would be hitting a warp leading to another area (like an entrance to a cave or dungeon) from the 'wrong side' which takes you to a completely different area than intended, which this is also not. artemis251.fobby.net/zelda/maps/map07.php

this looks like a TAS or segmented? you do all tricks first try like those wall phases, yet young me who tried jumping over walls for hours never managed to. Surely those tricks can't be so easy to do first try every time?
