In the end though, it's for entertainment purposes, and Cloud lost in the last Death Battle to a way weaker Link so they probably just wanted to make it equal

I think giving Cloud summons is a somewhat fair balance to Link having all four boosts from the Champions if this is fully including BOTW. Urbosa's Fury, Revali's Gale, Daruk's Protection, Mipha's Grace.. all of that is pretty OP.

That's what I always say. The animation doesn't matter, it's the data that says who's the most likely to win. Literally anything can happen in the fight but if the Data says X will beat Y then X wins no matter what happens.

Some things to point out: 1 Fighting summons to unlock them isn't introduced until Crisis Core, and its done in a controlled setting. The only Bahamut that Compilation Cloud ever fought was Bahamut-SIN which was a city-level threat at best and is not flying at relativistic speeds. 2. Cloud has bullet-time reflexes swinging the smaller pieces of Fusion Sword in AC, which is consistent with Zack bullet timing in CC. BOTW Link, meanwhile, is shown multiple times that he can parry Guardian lasers, both in combat and scripted cutscenes. Without items. 3. Sense materia might tell Cloud Link's abilities, but he cant counter all of them. 4. Cloud can hit intangible ghosts, but he has to cast a healing spell first: this either exorcises them or makes them solid. Old school DND logic. Link's intagibility does not work like this, he's not undead. 4. Link can do more than just pause or speed up his personal flow of time. He can actively travel forward and backwards in time, you need to do both to 100% Majora's Mask. Cloud has no counter to this degree of time flow control, if he uses Stop, their reapective Stop magics will cancel each other out. 5. Zack can tank a multi-megaton nuke to the face, but was worn down by and died to bullets and artillery... Cloud can tank the a supernova but was shish-kebabed by AC Sephiroth. Bahamut-ZERO is a moon-buster, but the stronger Bahamut-SIN (the only Bahamut Cloud fights canonically) is barely a city buster. MM Link canonically destroyed the moon, its in a scripted cutscene and part of the final boss fight. FD is casually Moon-level. 6. Why bring up things like Ultima Weapon, Flurry Rush, Song of Time, Phoenix-revive, ect. If they're not going to use it? 7. Link doesn't just have Mipha's Grace, he can carry several revive fairies on his person.

Absolutely, I've been fuming about how shitty the speed scaling calculations in this battle were (just because Bahamut can fly between planets does NOT mean Cloud can casually move at that speed, considering Bahamut was moving slowly or even standing still during Cloud's fights with it), but the animation is by far one of the best ones they've ever done.

And IIRC there is a statement that the characters in AC move slower than devs wanted because of the hardware. I'll post it if I can find it lol

There are three issues I have with this comment. 1. Link in both battles has been a composit character. No version of Link every has all the abilities stated in Link's intro. 2. They literally removed Most of clouds abilities via materia because they chose to only have Advent Children Cloud who didn't use Materia in the movie. 3. Both sides had feats that are just plain wrong.

The original Link vs Cloud Death Battle is, sincerely, the _only_ Death Battle I ever disagreed with the outcome of. There's been plenty where the character I would _like_ to win lost, but I understood it. And as much as I'm a Final Fantasy nerd, I'm pretty sure I like Link more as a character than I like Cloud, just conceptually. Death Battle uses some weird metrics pretty frequently. I often disagree with them, but they tend to balance out because they do it for _everyone_ They don't have strong bias (unless it's a character they own the rights to, like any of the gals from RWBY) But the actual battle they show us is just a cinematic to represent the outcome they determined from their data. What I'm saying with way too many words is, really great video. I've watched a handful of your reactions and they're great. Keep it up.

I think the reason Cloud was able to destroy the triforce is because the triforce holds Hyrule reality space time together and Safer sephiroth could destroy dimensional space though not time so it’s debatable weather or not Safer sephiroth has the same level of power of the triforce but cloud doesn’t exactly scale to the same power of safer sephiroth but his durability does though I still think link would’ve won with the triforce if he used it to wish cloud away and Link still has the feat where he fought demise who conjured a hyperspace which consists of 10 dimensions beyond time and space putting him above the triforce which is accurate considering Link used the triforce to wish demise away but it didn’t work. Overall it was an badass fight and definitely my top ten death battles.🔥👍

The thing is that those things wouldn't have mattered as they've explained Cloud was a lot faster stronger and more durable than link in an actual fight Cloud would've just blitzed him less than a second and killed Link based on their information the Master Sword doesn't help link that much other than status effects such as toad and mini and the Triforce even if it is Multi dimensional like HMK said so was Sephiroth's attack that destoryed space itself and destroyed an entire solar system the Triforce helped create the world it didn't create an entire solar system as they've explained the arrows wouldn't have been able to do anything to cloud the ancient arrows as they can insta kill could take out cloud but again he's too fast for link to begin with and in the FF7R there is a materia that protects against insta death anyway

This battle was only to even the odds from the last fight they did. Its almost as if the purposely made Link look like a villain, having him break pots (which I know is part of a long running Zelda joke but still...), making Fierce Deity look like some sort of final boss. Look, I love Cloud Strife, I like VII more than I like OOT and other Zelda games, and I don't mind Cloud winning, but no one's about to convince me that this wasn't heavily in favor of FFVII.

It’s pretty clear that they lowballed Link in this fight. They even had a black box that straight up said they nerfed link pretty hard while giving Cloud everything. Also they did give Cloud feats that were not actually feats like his speed feat. Link should win this fight pretty easy if you composite him. And if you use just one link then it depends on which one you use of which most would still win since they can scale to beings that transcended time and space. I would like to here reasons on why Cloud wins since DB reasoning is very flawed and most is just straight up wrong. If anyone can do that then please tell me.

No, Cloud scaling to Super Nova is very much fine. He did in fact survive the sun exploding in his face from what we are told by the official team who worked on FFVII. However, I really don't think he should have won. They lowballed Link A LOT in this one, and to me it just seems like the reverse of the previous battle with the two where Cloud was nerfed WAAAAYYYY too much (definitely more so in that fight than with Link in this one, actually). Now even with that, I think Link would win pretty easily if you scaled his FULL power accurately. I would be more open to the scaling if it was just one incarnation, but Composite Link is another entity entirely.

@Kevin Ramos So you're using the non canon manga, ok then. The whole lore aspect you used just isn't canon. Not to mention how Termina's gods aren't the same as Hyrule's or Lorule's. Demise probably never set foot in Termina. And Majora didn't make a full solar system inside the moon. It's likely just a kind of spiritual pocket dimension no larger than a football field. So if Fierce Deity Link isn't confirmed to be a "dark god" contained within a mask, and I bet if you were wearing it during the moon crash, Link would still die.

Ok…after watching the battle and reading the Q&A blog, IMO I think that the problem here ultimately is that the researchers for DB don’t think very highly of the Zelda verse. Their reasoning for lowballing not only what the lore dictates but also literally what they see is disingenuous IMO, almost as if they don’t want to accept certain characters having that kinda power in the franchise. A perfect example is their answer on if ganondorf stopped the earth’s rotation in WW, they reasoned that it wasn’t true and said that he more likely blocked out the sun with magic or used time manipulation cause the solar system and galaxy would still be moving…completely ignoring the fact that you can CLEARLY see with your eyes that the night sky is literally crystal clear during the endless night, and the moon and stars are literally frozen in place. The idea that ganondorf can control celestial bodies on a galactic scale is unreasonable to them even when it happens in their faces, they even rejected ganon moving the moon during the blood moons in BotW when it literally gets super close to the earth then launched back to normal distance in seconds afterwards. Besides fundamental low ball of the verse, this is a list of why the results are a combination of bad context for gear and scaling. 1. I’ll start with clouds durability sense this seems to be why they gave him the win. They claim cloud has supernova durability due tanking the attack, but they do this by using game battle mechanics and non canon concepts like HP for this to work. There’s a reason why to this day lots of people have concluded that the battles in FF are basically simulators for the player but matters little in the plot or canon story, the actions done simply can’t work when if taken seriously and held up to the plot. Cloud and crew can literally be killed by bullets, and this is made very clear from the start and finish of the story’s plot from the OG game, remake, and films. On one hand you have battles where cloud could literally use a limit break to saaay…stab Rufus Shinra through and rip his sword out the top of his head with him fleeing the fight in the story, but then you have a weak barely able to stand cloud run a much stronger sephiroth through the back which basically kills him before he falls into the life stream. If you were to take the game mechanics seriously, this would mean Rufus is stronger than sephiroth which is absurd. If you take one battle feat at face value, than you gotta take it all, and that’s simply not possible when the canon story takes priority. Cloud can’t have solar system durability and still be killable from bullets and other rudimentary damage, including explosives that barely destroy a city block.

2. The speed scaling was also botched here. First off, they scaled cloud to bahamut fury by using travel to put him at over 1000x ftl. This is bull for two reasons, first off cloud with help defeated bahamut sin, and this version of the summon was possibly supersonic at BEST in speed. I may as well add that the on the blog they said that cloud tanked this bahamuts blast which should’ve been planet lvl durability, when he actually used shell to protect himself as you could clearly see from the barrier covering his body at the time after his crew launched him toward bahamut(which he couldn’t do on his own btw). Even if you scale him from zack facing fury, zack never actually had to deal with fury’s flight speed. For 90% if the boss fight it stays stationary while merely shooting attacks at zack, and in the few moments it flys off zack is helpless to fight back until fury repositions himself in another spot or uses his special. This makes the scaling completely dishonest especially when you factor in canon story also not supporting this level of travel speed from the crew, moments like when cloud had to steal vehicles in order to escape shinra tower. This brings me to how they lowballed links’s speed scaling. They sat there and purposely used some BS scaling to a beamos laser when they had plenty of other feats to use, like his ability to casually reflect guardian lasers after being fired, links ability to move and fight in zones devoid of time or time being frozen which SHOULD mean immeasurable speed levels for high scaling, or better yet link being able to move so fast that he perceives lightning as frozen while moving freely, and attack to fast that his blows create explosions and s and actually swing faster than the light created by said explosions can expand outward. This should put link at mftl easily and this isn’t even an outlier considering big bads like general onox in one scene literally blitzed a group, and snatched some one all within the span of a lightning flash…and this guy was a flea compared to other big bads in the Zelda verse. Based on this link should’ve been leagues faster than cloud with ACTUAL solid scaling being involved.

3. With striking Power DB implied that characters like cloud and crew and sephiroth and the like are able to literally bust solar systems or even entire dimensions with their physical strikes, again by scaling from gameplay mechanics centered around attack animations taken at face value. Again I remind everyone of how this stuff conflicts with the canon story like the fact that sephiroth needed the black materia for meteor because he lacked the physical ability to wound the planet for his life stream plan to work…which conflicts with the idea a a sephiroth that could casually slice the planet into salami if their scaling is to be taken seriously. There are literally scenes where cloud struggles to break through a steel bunker door, or when he clashes steel blades in heated battles. Going by the scaling, all material in the verse must be stronger than galaxy busting power, and their best explanation is plot induced stupidity…because in game battle mechanics conflicts with the events of the FREAKIN canon STORY. Of course when it comes to link they take the reverse strategy because the situation is reversed for the character. Zelda series has lore that backs up universal to multiverse level beings, but it’s game that limits the scope having to be filled in by canon story scenes that supports the lore. Link has high end scaling through the canon story that supports his ability to defeat 4D-5D beings in physical combat, but even if we go solely on lower end feats we have link casually being able shred through stone and steel, strike with the force shatter building sized granite structures, and strikes with force equal to a rocket space launch with the flick of his arm based on calcs. Regardless of everything on either side, point is if cloud can be pierced by bullets and almost die from blood loss or organ failure, link is more than strong enough to chop off limbs or his head. 4. Gear and strategy was another thing they botched here. They have cloud the master materia but admit that cloud isn’t immune to time stop without a specific materia combo which he doesn’t have link. Link however is naturally immune to time manipulation, that’s a massive advantage in this fight considering he would be able to stasis cloud and hack him to pieces with stokes that build up with each hit and killing cloud before he can heal. With all of the defensive items link has at his disposal, the magic cape is the best due to making him invisible and intangible. You see DB made sure to lie about a very important feature about the cape though…they claimed that link couldn’t do anything but use it for stealth, but link can actually attack and has full range of movement while active with the only limitations being use of other gear or magic. They knew cloud had no defense against this so they threw that dishonest bit on info in there hoping no one played LttP to know. They acknowledge links infinite magic and claim cloud can syphon mana from link, but fail to remember that cloud can only steal from a target which he won’t have in a scenario with link using the cape. This item combined with something like miphas grace makes link darn near impossible to kill for someone like cloud with this set up. They gave link the 4 sword( which I didn’t think was necessary), but totally ignored the possibilities that this allows with his allowed gear set. Literally every item link has at his disposal is spit among the 4, this means you can have one spamming omnidirectional lightning that literally homes in on clouds metal weapons and armor with urbosa fury, one link could be casting stasis while cloud is off balance trying and failing to avoid lightning, another could go invisible to set up for a killing blow, while the main link sets up an ancient arrow shot which cloud has no proven defense against. The possibility here is endless for a character with this many options split into 4 with such a tactical mind with master level skills in combat. This was my reasoning for how death battle screwed link over. I’m sure others can point out more, but this battle just reinforced my decision to unsubscribe after the trash that was ganondorf vs Dracula. I lost all respect for their channel.

Infinite speed? I don't think so. Correct me if I'm wrong but there is no exact evidence in that one-on-one confrontation that suggests Link is that fast or has a counter for infinite speed. Demise never used powers to move at infinite speed in that fight (even if divine data suggests he can do this). The fastest Link can maneuver is when Flurry Rushing or using pegasus boots. To be fair you could say the same with the boss fight with Bahamut Fury and Zack in CC. Even if Bahamut Fury can move that fast based on their calculations, never once have I seen Fury or any other Bahamut in the family, use that speed in a fight. Never once have I seen a 1st Class Soldier move at 1200x the speed of light either, so this "Cloud would run circles around Link before him even noticing" statement is a bit off. The fastest I've seen them move is when dodging/blocking bullets and that's it. Also I HIGHLY doubt that Link will be one-shotting or speed blitzing Cloud Strife of all characters, but I digress.

@@thejokahfiedone4125 actually the fact that the divine data suggests that demise can do that is literally all of the proof you need, saying "he didn't use any of his powers" isn't even true because demise has literally no reason to hold back against link, even going as far as to compliment link on his strength. And conquering time in a verse with multiple universes inside of multiple timelines and demise is able to destroy them all which is at least 3 universes is way better than any feat cloud can muster even if you assume that sephiroth's solar system was destroying the entire dimension that would only be one universe when demise could destroy 3. Link would 100% one shot. And the best part is since time is omnipresent and demise could literally defeat time, you can say he has immeasurable speed, meaning speed beyond linear time. So link does in fact speed blitz. And saying "I haven't seen them move that fast" or "1200x faster isn't right or he'd be able to do this, this, and this" is a logical fallacy, you're trying to apply real world physics to a fictional verse or saying that if an author wants a character that fast they should make them do something that fast. Which ruins it. If game creators made characters as strong or as fast as they should the games wouldn't be fun at all, which is the reason why they sell.

Also, I wasn't exactly trying to apply real world physics, but what I'm saying is more based on common sense, because never once have these FFVII characters moved at 1200x speed of light when fighting like Death Battle seems to be implying. Travel speed and fighting speed are two different things. If I'm in a race and it just so happens that I run faster than everyone that doesn't mean I can deliver a series of attacks just as fast or faster than those same people I just raced. Link, for instance can't run fast as he can deliver a series of attacks seemingly all at once in BotW. Or run as fast as he can react to enemies in WW (Parry attack) and yeah I know, that game devs know how to chisel the strengths and weaknesses of their characters to make their conflict more interesting or engaging. I'm a writer myself. Is there something I'm missing? Forgive me it's been a while since I've been debating in character battles but I don't know how that would count as a logical fallacy. Either you have the capacity to defeat/destroy it, or you have complete control of time, or you can time travel. Demise never shown any time manipulation or time travel abilities so there is no reason to assume that that's what demise meant. You can say creating that pocket dimension uses the manip, but that pocket dimension isn't a pocket Dimension and demise didn't create itz it's just the demon world, so all this added by the fact that when demise wanted to conquer Hyrule he wanted to destroy it essentially making it apparent that when demise conquers something he destroys it. Means that demise conquering time means he can destroy time. Which I just proved it omnipresent throughout the timeline and would qualify for immeasurable speed tiering. if you want me to go into the other infinite speed feats I can go into those. Also with the speed thing yeah death gets this wrong alot by lumping them together and not giving a reason why it applies to all 3, it's basically like you can move that fast and all but your reaction speed partly sorta scales since you'd have to be fast enough to react to incoming objects and steer/stop. The Ziedrich bracer actually has more to it too. Along with halving elemental damage, it halves physical damage. Along with a flat and % boost to Magic and Physical decense. Only thing it doesn't halve is Sound and non-elemental damage. Add in his natural durability, you have a very tanky Cloud. Ancient arrow would have had to been a Vital Point hit to kill Cloud and even then I'm not sure. (Ancient Arrow is more a Guardian Laser in arrow form. Think a Kamehameha as well, enough force behind it and not strong enough to resist, vaporized.) Having access to Master Materia meant free reign with magic, summons and skills (aside from Enemy Skill Materia, which needs to be equipped separately) with no drawbacks or bonuses to his stats, at most he'd have 4 materia on him, barring any meta setups. Also Weird bahamut speed comparison aside (they had other characters that would have been better scaled. Reno, Rufus, Kadaj, Yazoo and Loz speed wise), Cloud has very good reaction speed and movement. Flurry Rush? Veeeery iffy, outside game mechanic. It's not like Bayo's Witch time. And every chracter in AoC can do flurry rush too, even great fairies, Hatsu and Zelda. So I'd just say he has good reaction speed as well. Alot of the Champion Powers and items there were mentioned but not used, were simply cause Cloud could counter pretty much all of it with Materia. Anything that gives a buff to Link (Milk, Magic Armor spell version, Nayru's Love, etc.)? Dispel. Magical attack? Reflect or Barrier magic, and just reduced in damage due to armor. And I know with the Triforce...buuut more often than not, he just has Courage. 1/3 of ultimate power. Nothing to sniff at, no, but Cloud definitely was in the ballpark to contend with it. So all in all, this was a much fairer fight to me this time. They did Composite Link again and gave Cloud stuff he would realistically have by the end of the game into Advent Children. If Cloud had lost this time, i would have still be bummed, but it would have felt like he didn't have all realistic options available to em

@@Supernerd471 the funny thing is the value they gave link is based on a non canon bad ending for MM. if you do the math for the KE of the moon feat. the moon is super small and at most you could say is is 450,000,000 KG and it takes 3 days to even make it to the planet. assuming the moon has the same orbit as ours. and it takes 3 days to move 384.4 million meters in 259200 seconds. so 384,400,000/259200=1,483.02 meters a second. and by using the formula for Kinetic energy an object with a mass of 450,000,000 KG moving at 1,483.02. comes out to 494,853,372,090,000 J or 118.27 kilotons of tnt which is near baseline Large Town level. and no where close to the moon level power they gave link. and keep in mind that this is assuming the moon is solid. which we see from the ending MM it is mostly hollow.

Ok wait..What the hell? They not only gave Cloud the Fusion Sword, which that version of him wouldn't have had in the first place, but then they seem to have added materia to it (in the small side blades, they looked like they glowed), which isn't a thing. BUT they ALSO put the 2 small blades together as a double sided blade? The fuck? That isn't a thing either! This is what I hate so much about Death Battle videos. They ALWAYS either make shit up, or do things that aren't stuff the characters can even do. Or worse, sometimes both! Not to mention all the shit link is doing. I get that they want to use a bunch of different abilities. But that version doesn't have those abilities. I guess if you wanna cancel out that with cloud using a sword he shouldn't have, then fine, but the sword having materia AND being used in a way that isn't possible, is bullshit. Also, I find it funny that they needed to tell you that Dissidia was a spin off to let you know that stuff in that game doesn't count, then proceeds to use Cloud's Dissidia version for the battle..

@@merlinthestrange8543 Yea, I get that, but the main problem I have, even with canceling out things those versions shouldn't do (i.e BOTW Link using abilities from other Links that he can't use), they made the Fusion Sword have materia, which isn't possible, and they made the side blades of that sword fuse into some weird 2-sided sword, which also is something it can't do. If they want to let them use abilities other versions have, the least they could do is use abilities they ACTUALLY have. Also I didn't say they used Dissidia Cloud for scaling. I said they DIDN'T use it for scaling, and went so far as to make a note saying that as such, then proceeded to use that version for the match. That's not something I have a problem with. I said I find it funny that they did that.

I didnt agree with their logic in this fight at all. They ignored a bunch of Links feats just from BOTW alone such as his time dilation and the fact that he can parry the blast wave of explosions back at the source as two examples. Not to mention his other champion abilities. They also seemingly nerfed the triforce. Not saying Cloud wouldn't win but lately deathbattle have been ignoring entire aspects of characters that could play a major role in a fight just because the other combatant has bigger numbers.

Forget the fact that they never addressed to other Champion's Abilities or the fact that Link barely used some of his equipment (only 1 Ancient Arrow?), they never talked about his bullet time or reaction speed in Breath of the Wild. The Triforce is not Omnipotent. Its power is likely only Planet level, when complete, and in Hyrule. Honestly, Link shouldn't have been able to take the Triforce of Courage into Midgar, because that's a whole different Universe, that's not even connected to Hyrule. That very fact may have contributed to why it was unable to resist Omnislash V5, because the sheer distance would have greatly weakened its power. Cloud had an answer for literally everything in Link's arsenal, even Chateau Romani. MP Absorb/Osmose paired with Master Command meant that every one of Cloud's hits steal MP. HP Absorb/Drain paired with Master Magic allowed him to heal whenever he landed a spell. When you compare base stats, Cloud is so much faster, stronger and more durable that the battle is a foregone conclusion. Link put up a hell of a fight, though. Gotta give him that, right?! 😎👍

Also, evil hearts cannot use the power as effectively as pure hearts, so Ganondorf was at a serious disadvantage against Dracula. The Triforce's only as strong as the 3 Goddesses who made it: Din, Nayru and Farore. In that way, it's somewhat similar to the Dragon Balls. Together, they created a single planet, along with a few connected pocket Dimensions designed to interact with said planet, like the Sacred Realm. Termina was a parallel Dimension, and so was Lorule. However, they didn't create all those realms all at once, but one at a time. Zelda feats are hard to scale, because something that seems Omnipotent there can be considered weak and pathetic by other Franchises' standards.
