Something I notice with this Battle is that it definitely shows how much the show has changed from Season 1. Especially with how they chose the Winner. In Season 1 they seemingly decided the Winner on "Who is more likely to score a Killing Blow first". Now they decide Winners on "Who would have more Wins overall if they fought a Thousand or so times."

I don't get the whole Link being at least planetary when he has beaten universal enemies. The Majora Mask created all of Termina aka another dimension, and link killed the mask. Ganondorf in OoT was so strong he was beyond reality, this was because of the Triforce. He turns to Ganon he is even stronger and Link was able to beat him (more than once if it's composite link).

Here's the thing about Link's infinite invincibility and unlimited magic. Even if Link was able to be invincible for a full 3 days, he'd still have zero ways of killing Cloud. With three days and just their weapons, Cloud still tanked a sun exploding to the face.

Yeah, but so did Barret, and he’s a regular ahh human with a gun for an arm. That implies every human is actually some kind of demigod level being. But then how is it that random monsters can take out people? They must then be comparable in power to a supernova. The inconsistencies of interpreting summon and attack animations as literal feats raises way too many problems. Death battle was more correct before in ignoring it.

@@campomambo Not really. The final party against Sephiroth is interchangable except for Cloud. He's really the only one that definitively was in that battle to tank the sun was him. That said, sure. Avalanche are built different from regular humans.

I think cloud has better feats then link but there are some statements that are canon about link Ganondorf and the master sword that would make him well above universal and potentially complex multiversal for example the master sword having power of the light force which is infinite power but this does contradict the gameplay but then again that’s what most statements I think link would have won if death battle used these feats but I think it was a good episode👍

This episode really highlights to me Death Battle's lack of imagination with their fights, and thats a shame bcs the fight animations are what ppl click to watch, and they had so much material to work with for Link Composit Link has the raw natural strength of TP and BOTW Link, plus the Four Sword multiplying ability. TP Link can wrestle Gorons bare handed, he only needed leg weights to stabilize his footing. BOTW Link can block guardian lasers with a pot lid and has Ultra Instinct/Speed Force-level reflexes as his signature ability. No equipment or magic, just raw natural stats. He should be more than enough to fight a bullet-blocking 1st class SOLDIER on equal terms, if not surpass them. Add in the Four Sword's splitting ability, Cloud is now in a 4-on-1 brawl against dudes on par with/stronger than a 1st class soldier. But, instead of showing off Link's raw stats, they have him rely on slow-moving bombs instead, allowing him to get caught in a gravity spell. Just, why. Composit Link can use the Ocarina of Time. He could manipulate the flow of time, or reset the battle until he finds a winning strategy (something DB did w/Hal Jordan vs Ben 10). No Sage abilities, except maybe Mipha's Grace? Again, ignoring BOTW feats. Fierce Deity shows up and does... basically nothing. One of Link's most powerful and iconic transformations. He doesn't even roar/scream when transforming. No cutting the moon or another celestial body in half to show off his raw power. He lumbers towards Cloud, swings his sword a few times and gets torn apart like tissue paper. Composit Link has the Four Sword, the FD Mask, and a ton of power multipliers. Cloud could fight 4 juiced-up Fierce Deities at once. Or 3 while the 4th is on standby to reset the fight if it gets too dire. Theres just so many cool things they could do with composit Link and just... didn't.

Fierce Deity canonically destroyed the Moon and killed Majora. Fierce Deity is at the very least moon-level in destructive output, if not higher, bcs it wasn't pushed to its limit. The final boss fights are embarrassingly easy for the Fierce Deity, and that's the point. To show how outclassed in power Majora and the Moon are.

Well, one or 2 time use and than no more after that, no time parry, no slow down time, no other mask, no medals to extend, no magic armor, no cane of byrna that makes him Invincible and can damage enemies, he had the cape of invisibility that makes intangible and invincibility, but he threw that away for some dumb reason and no fy and no goddesses magic or golden Master sword.

@@Bleeperblopper497 I need to ask you a serious question. What is your experience with Zelda? This isn’t a gotcha or anything but I can literally go down every point and prove without a shadow of a doubt that Link wins. Like the research was untrustworthy. Any Zelda fan would know that Link resists time based attacks. That only arguments that I have heard from the researchers is how the higher level Zelda stuff is shaky even if it’s far more consistent than FF. They basically threw themselves under the bus because they used the Triforcemaking the Earth as a means to lowball and just decided to ignore every other description of the triforce that is creating and sustaining all things across an infinite multiverse. How it’s stated multiple times to be omnipotent and the supreme power. You may be saying, “well death battle excluded the Triforce”. I wonder why🧐. Maybe it’s because it would have been an instant win for Link? Most definitely. Plus they gave link his Majora’s mask stuff and said that this was standard and somehow the Triforce isn’t even though it’s more consistent for Link to have the Triforce then to have the Masks. But they also leave out how Link doesn’t need the Triforce in his possession to win. The mail in Death Battles coffin for this episode was saying Skull kid was plant level in power. Man they lost all credibility with this one. Just reading the guide for Majora’s mask for a couple pages gives you a rundown on Majora and his power. He has full control over the moon, the heavens, space and time. Aka the entire universe. Link beats Majora as a child without the master sword and we can assume he still has the Triforce of courage but he is probably at one of his weaker points. Then you add in the Fierce Deity and Link without the Triforce is beyond universal. And my big issue is how there are countless examples in both feats and statements of Link being uneffected by time based attacks and despite this they just ignore it and say Cloud could use time stop on link even though he moves in stopped time all the time. He beats characters that have full control over time and even conquered time as a concept. But no link can get effected by the weakest time based ability he has ever faced. And another issue is how in one of the black boxes for Cloud they just assume that the supernova was a universal feat and don’t ask any questions but then with link they completely disregard his many universal+ statements an use the fact that the Triforce made the earth as a way to justify this. I mean yeah the Triforce did create the earth. I’m not arguing that. But it’s literally stated multiple other times to create everything else and be the omnipotent/ supreme power of the verse. So basically they cherry picked there statements and completely disregard the rest but with Cloud they barely think twice about his universal argument. I have made piece with this battle being made to appease FF fans. It gives link no respect by treating him as a wiki page and less like a character. The sound track is FF focused and Cloud bodies most of the fight. They had Cloud cut through the Triforce which is the biggest slap in the face to a Zelda fan and effortlessly evaded Fierce deity despite link scaling to Demise and Hylia who are beyond time and fight in hyperspace which would blow clouds speed feats out of the water. So I am asking this as a genuine question. Have you actually played a Zelda game before and if so, did you actually read what was going on. Long story short, Link wins mid-low diff

I do not get at all how people like this episode so much. It's not the worst this season, but it left the most bitter taste in my mouth. Tiny bit of background on my end: I am a fan of the Zelda series and did not like the original Final Fantasy VII very much (the seriousness and comedy did not mesh well for me) until the first part of the remake was released and playing as him in Sm4sh. I would have preferred for Link to win, but neither was I expecting it, nor would I be disappointed about him losing anymore since I now can appreciate his opponent. I feel like the analysis was very bland because the only thing I remember is that it almost made me uninterested because of the occassional seemingly outlandish feats. Link's relativistic speeds from dodging a Beamos laser (when it works more with anticipation and his movement really not looking that fast at all) feels almost as outlandish as Megaman.EXE exploring an entire universe in minutes. I'd have preferred something like his Flurry Rush even if it's definitly not as fast. And I also felt partially that way for Cloud, especially with the Supernova feat which technically every single character in that game has. I've also heard they got some parts wrong like the description of which coloured materia does what. I do have to agree that the editing was pretty good though. But onwards to the animation which I had high hopes for since Link's arsenal had a lot of potential for a varied and interesting fight. But the first thing that would get my attention in the fight would be the graphic design. The tunnel tried too hard looking like in the FFVII Remake, but I've started to appreciate it. However, my opinion has not changed on the characters which could have used better textures - just look at Cloud's hair which looks like it only has one colour! The eyes of Link sometimes look like they were light sources. And why is the lighting so bad in the tunnel and even later on when it gets darker? Where's the contrast? I've heard the Fusion Sword should be stored in the motorbike, so destroying the bike and going for a title screen reference maybe wasn't the best idea there. During the Four Swords segment the characters jump from pose to pose between each cut, making it disorienting while also wrong. (The Ocarina song also is an altered version of "Song of Storms", but I suppose they want to be fully independent with their music.) Then about the opportunities: It was great to see a motorcycle clash, even though I didn't expect a lot of it because that is clearly not Link's forte. I liked how well the four Links managed to work as a team and quite some arsenal was used for constant variety. I was not a fan how the time stops were used - or rather, what happened after that. I first thought Link was surprised the time stop didn't work which made him lose that clash. It's really hard to see because you have way too few frames to catch it, but that was actually not the case. The Stasis segment was also weird: Link uses Stasis on the bike as shown by a blue hue around it; this hue is at first missing when the arrow approaches the bike despite being continuously in Stasis. The ugly "explosion" afterwards should be more of an implosion. And I'm not sure if the Ancient Arrows are really that effective on an indirect hit, making that shot seem like a waste to me. There were also some things I really expected to happen: Cloud being mainly a swordfighter would have been something that should have been exploited at least for a short moment with Magnesis. And since Link is now canonically able to rapid-fire his bow, he really should have done that only for Cloud to easily block it; would have been a neat reference to the original fight as well. And don't get me started on the part when Link transformed into the Fierce Deity. I mean, Cloud was portrayed in this fight to be the person who tried to keep up with Link thanks to his constant change of items and tactics. Do you remember what Fierce Deity Link achieved in this battle? Nothing. He's supposed to be a destructive force, but we don't get to see any of that. He wouldn't have needed to land a blow on Cloud, but I really would have hoped to see some destruction of e.g. the remains of the ruins, just to show how much the transformation has changed him. I'm also not very happy how they characterised Link, especially after they did such a good job with Ganondorf. Cloud was mostly really well done, maybe excluding the Charlie Brown treatment he got for some reason after his bike explodes (let's see who understands that reference). Link takes fights seriously, so I'm disappointed when they decided to break this characterisation in some instances. One major for me is the red Link hugging his remote bomb - I have no idea where they got that from. And the worst is Link disrespecting the pottery. Yes, we all make fun of Link destroying it, just to get hearts and rupees, but I don't remember him ever being such an asshole about it. It's also more of a gameplay thing, not something that should characterise him. Would people have minded if Ratchet did actively destroy boxes in his fight against Jak? I mean his jump attack would be something more over-the-top and therefore more fitting to implement (it was even mentioned in his analysis that he "has a vendetta against crates"!), but I'd like to believe people would have been not happy if he just decided to interrupt the fight for that. This fight actually feels like it is in some aspects even worse than the one from almost a decade ago. Yes, it hasn't aged that well and maybe some things were lingering on a bit too long, but for a first 3D fight I'm impressed how easy it was to understand what was going on - which unfortunately was not done as great in this rematch. I really would have expected this episode not to be worse in any aspect compared to its counterpart from a decade ago. That sadly wasn't the case and is what drags it down for me. Tl;dr: The analysis made me question their philosophy about picking ridiculous feats again, there was no need for the characters to be so hard to see during the darker parts of the fight, bland or even missing textures, missed and mishandled opportunities, jarring cuts and the characterisation of Link make this episode for me possibly the hardest watch for this season, even though there are definitly worse like Akuma vs Shao Kahn. Wait - wasn't that the same team, part of which did also Ganondorf vs Dracula (which I enjoyed a lot)? Their fights really seem to be only either hit or miss for me...

@@Bleeperblopper497 You do realise that this was by far my smallest complaint, right? I don't think an episode is bad because my favourite character loses. Which is btw much more frowned upon than liking an episode because one's favourite character won. I'm pretty sure that Q&A doesn't explain the boring analysis, the disappointing visuals and the made up personalities of Link. That's why I'm upset about the mainstream: They see: Someone didn't like the episoode, and think: "Oh, they only wrote so much, trying to appear rational while they're actually just salty that their favourite character lost!" The death is just a very small portion of any DB video. Granted, it's the most impactful, but what good is that if the rest of the episode was bad? I want a fun analysis, a good looking fight where I can see something and characterisation that makes me feel like those are the actual characters and not just some 3D-models that merely happen to look like the two characters. If it helps, here's a very short tl;dr: I dislike that episode because it's disappointing and sheds a poor light on Link who quite a big part of the DB community hates already thanks to one of the most controversial DBs. Go watch Smash Bracket's Link vs Ridley to see what I was hoping for.
