The video helped me a lot when studying for a test! However, to calculate the coefficient of coincidence my professor says in the numerator to put the number of observed double crossovers (in this case 40) and in the denominator to multiply the frequency of single crossovers together and then multiply by the number of total offspring to find the predicted (in this case 0.28x0.18x1000 which is 50.4). c=40/50.4 c=0.79365 and I=1-c therefore I=0.20635 or 20.635% interference.

#observed double cross over=frequency of 1st point cross over * frequency of 2nd point cross over * total offsprings, i.e.( 0.18 * 0.28)* 1000 = 50.4. #observed double cross over= 18+28=40 # COC=40/50.4=0.8 #I=1-0.8=.2 According to my book.

I think there is a mistake. For calculating the COC value, the expected double cross-over value shoud be calculated by (74+66+22+18) and (128+112+22+18)

expected double cross over is the product of two single cross over i.e 0.18*0.28=0.0504 that means 5.04 (but not 3.36 as you mentioned above)

Same here. I got 0.79 for the COC and the inference should give you around 0.20 (rounded at 0.21). I'm glad that the equation we were given in class gave me the same answer as you guys. I was skeptical about the negative result he got, as it is logically not possible.

This is a total blunder!!!!! I suggest you should delete this video immediately.Expected DCO is wrong.Observed DCO is wrong.COC is wrong.Just think about the interference (1- 1.19)= -0.19.(Where negative interference in this maths are very very rare. Please don't mind but it is really a big mistake and your channel is the most favourite of all others that is why a big number of people follows you,as i do, so the chance of spreading the mistake is very high! But i love your videos above all.

How do you know if it was t v lg or lg v t for the ordering?
@OneInnerDepth
@OneInnerDepth 10 жыл бұрын
You compare the parent arrangement (the most numbered) with the double crossovers (the two least numbered) and you look to find the uncommon one between each parent compared to each DC. The uncommon variable or gene will be your middle gene..

@svenjamulder4458
@svenjamulder4458 5 жыл бұрын
It's actually correct. For the observed double cross over you would say 22+18/1000 and then divide this value by 100. You then take the values for the single cross overs without the addition of the double crossovers ie. 66+72/1000 x 128+112/1000. you then multiply the entire sum by 100. If you are getting a different COC it is because you are using the map units with the double cross still in the sum. His answer is correct.
