Remember what Mike Shinoda said about Chester passing away: "We're trying to remind ourselves that the demons who took you away from us were always part of the deal. After all, it was the way you sang about those demons that made everyone fall in love with you in the first place." That's it, we loved Chester also because his pain and grief he had inside himself... That's what an artist is. Bye Chester.

You know about the whole "cry for help" thing, most of us knew. We all knew Chester had demons inside him, it's what made his voice so special. Everday he was fighting battles, knowing that giving in only once would be the end. And he finally did in the end. But in all honesty, I don't see his death as him losing the battle. I see him winning this battle countless times before.

.....this may sound like a bad take. But in a weird way, it feels like Chester found peace. I mean, it is true he fought a battle and won many times but those demons never left. There are times where I wonder what peace really is when living is such a difficult task cause of so many horrors on the mind. What is peace then? It's just something to ponder about.

It is sad when the fans find out and fully realize the cry for help but after Chester had passed Mike said the whole band knew about his demons. The music was basically Chester's release; to not lose those battles inside him. The songs hit so much harder emotionally now that it's all in the open

Not necessarily. Everybody always misses the bruises on her arm at the beginning. She is in an abusive relationship, bruised and crying filling the sink. By the end, she got out. about the lyrics, theres a reason why we who were teens then and listened to them say he saved us (not my case luckly) or he took us through our teen years (because this music does that). we all felt this to more or less degree, and he/they helped us feel better and keep going with life. and thisis why we love him and are sad, he who helped us all, is gone

She retreats inside herself when the shadow walks in behind her, she won't let her boyfriend touch her, her arms are covered in bruises, she feels distant from everyone else and herself, she cries when she's alone. This is hands down my favourite Linkin Park song. The lyrics speak to me on so many levels, as for years I have been battling depression, anxiety and self-harm. When I heard this song, I knew someone finally got what I was feeling, that he was feeling it too and I wasn't alone in the world feeling the way I did. Breaks my heart that we couldn't save him, he was an amazing, gifted young man who gave us so much. RIP Chester, and thank you for all the lives you saved by reaching out to those who battled internal demons and showing us we weren't alone.

Memories man... I remember while back in high school (class of 2002!) buying Hybrid Theory at Target because it was cheap and absolutely fell in love with the entire CD. Target used to have a bunch of music from "up and coming artists", they would usually flop but several got big. About a month later I heard their first single "One Step Closer" on the radio and thought "wow, these guys are on the radio now, good, they deserve it!". Hybrid Theory was the first CD I ever bought that I absolutely loved every song from start to finish. If you listen to their entire discography it's incredibly hard to not hear Chester's cry for help throughout it all and it breaks my heart hearing it now. Especially since back then I was in the same boat. Thanks for the great video and reaction.

When I listened to this as a teen I knew it was a cry for help. All his music is. It always has been. That's why I was so drawn to it. Bevause it actually captured exactly what I felt back when I was suicidal and struggling with abuse and all kinds of shit. Longtime fans have always heard those cries. We also know that we couldn't do anything more than be loyal fans. And now as an adult, it's still true. You're the only person who can fight your demons. Other people can support you, but they can't do the fighting. Chester fought for years. Long enough to give us tons of good music. Sho I like to think that he never really lost that battle. Suite, his own particular demons may have taken over him, but through this music, he assumed so so so many people like myself to fight their own demons, and that's his legacy. When I'm say that music from some of these bands you react to, linkin park and evanescence in particular, saved my life, I mean that literally because the 3 more minutes that it took to listen to that song was 3 more minutes I didn't actually go through with it that time. (Wore out a lot of repeat buttons). We'r always knew it was a very for help. He might have lost his battle, but he helped millions of us fight and win ours

The beautiful thing about LP songs is, the lyrics are so versatile everyone can interpret them in their own ways according to their experiences. I related the lyrics for me feeling insecure in school, not being able to fit in anywhere, I tried to be someone I wasn't just to fit in with a 'squad'. that really backfired and I was left all alone. So I learned to be myself and I found real friends in the end. I see other people relating the lyrics to their own experiences and that's so fucking beautiful man! Stay strong and keep pushing yall!

You should really react to the entire “The hunting Party” album. It’s their 6th one, and could be considered as a return to form. If you consider their evolution form album to album: this one legitimately feels like a prequel to hybrid theory. And the last song “A line in the sand” is arguably their best they ever did. An epic 6+ minutes that close a fucking hardcore album by using EVERY styles they ever played with in the past.

I gave that album a listen because of all the hype about it being a return to form and back to their roots etc. Which was all bullshit. Sounds nothing like old LP. The only prequel to Hybrid Theory is the Hybrid Theory EP and the only prequel to that is Xero.

Linkin Park has been one of my favorite artists since 2001. When I was a kid, I loved singing along with these songs just out of preteen--and then teen--angst. It wasn't until many years later, as I struggled with depression and anxiety, that I fully began to understand the lyrics. "Against my will I stand beside my own reflection".... "This lack of self-control I fear is never-ending, controlling, I can't seem to find myself again."... these are words that I fully empathize with now, for better or worse. I wish I didn't, but hey, at least the music I've loved throughout my life turned out to be relevant to that life after all.

This band, Linkin Park, was one of those bands that I listened to when i was at rock bottom. And this song was my anthem, my cry for help when no one heard me. I felt like Linkin Park understood me in every way possible. and for that I am forever grateful. This band saved my life, needless to say it was devastating when the world realized Chester had passed on. I know I broke down and cried. I am so glad you made a reaction to this song. and as a PSA, If you know someone who is going through a really rough time and they are at rock bottom, listen to them and help them out. you might have just saved a life.

I'll never forget the first time I heard this song. Chester's range was phenomenal and the lyrics were so powerful. The year before I discovered SOAD when Toxicity released and Serj has that same soothing singing then yelling/screaming. Chester blew me away and I was a LP fan for life ever since.

Listening to Linkin Park now is so chilling, knowing what Chester would eventually. Just about all of their songs are laced with cries. What makes it even more haunting is listening to Battle Symphony from One More Light and how upbeat and positive it is, it made what happened to Chester that much harder to believe

Every time I hear this song, I always want to cry. His music, like for millions of other troubled teens growing up to Linkin Park, was music to the soul that validated our feelings and let us know at least someone understood the pain. It makes it even more hard to know that we as fans, couldn't do that for him.

I know someone who struggles with depression (& trauma & other shit...), who said "I can't fix the hole, but I can grow myself around it" (I hope the translation is understood). Means they can't undo the trauma, but can do things they love and improve, so the 'hole' will be relatively smaller.

It’s not just in retrospect. We all felt it with him. I think as a collective, we thought that he was exercising his demons through music because that’s what we were doing with him. We knew instantly that he felt the same trauma that too many of us struggle with daily. He gave voice to his pain and we gave voice to ours through his. Then he carried on with his journey. You can feel the mood shift and growth from album to album. We thought he beat it and now we are left to wonder if he thought he had done all he needed to on earth or if he just had a really bad night where he couldn’t get out of that sinking hole before it buried him alive.

YEESSS! I feel like this is their most underrated song! It's deff my favorite song. All of his songs were so deep and sad for so long, I think he was just expected to outlast his pain. I think we can all agree we never thought he would take his own life. It was all too much, his childhood trauma and life struggles. It's horrible to think about. Celebrities can have some of the worst pain they are trying to shield, we need more resources for them and us all.

that's the saddest part of all of this. Chester reached so many with his music, people who needed help, who related to the turmoil in the music. But not once, never once did any of us recognize that his music reached us because he was crying for help, too. we all got so wrapped up in our own problems we didn't help the one person who needed us more than we needed him. We're sorry, Chester, we miss you T.T
