You know, I can't say I was ever a huge fan of Linkin Park or Chester, but they had some great songs that were catchy and lyrically good to be hits, and they kind of took their own path when doing things... I mean, every suicide is a loss, fills you with sadness, and it seems to me like Chester had more to say than many other artists, and he didn't seem to be an asshole (again, from the little I've seen of him in interviews).
