I love Linkin Park since I was a freshman in high school in 2000 but never knew of his sexual abuse or abuse period. I've been thinkin a lot about him and Chris Cornell and just depression and how they must feel like they cannot be helped. I have so much hate for the ones that hurt, like the man that abused him. He ruined his life. He messed him up. How can someone be so capable of destroying someone into a million pieces. Then I hear this song and now I hear his pain in this and all his songs. It just leaves me....speechless. I was watching an interview with Mike and he speaks of how they would write the songs and he knew what it meant to Chester.

Chester was the "pressure release valve" of a generation. It was the combination of his sincerity in delivery of the vocals and lyrics and his primal screams showing the often volatile range of emotions people experience. Anyone that understood the struggle, understood it on an instinctive level and were better able to cope while listening because he was right there next to you. It's still difficult for me to listen to Crawling, even after all these years because when it was released, that was me. A small part of me still is.

Just imagine the kind of pain he lived with inside. Trying to purge himself of it through his music. We feel it so deeply through listening to his voice and are so grateful for the gifts he left us with. But this just breaks my heart
@KraChZiman4 жыл бұрын
It saddens me too. That he never defeated his demons in the end, but we are still all grateful, because while he was alive, he did the best he could to show us all that we are not alone. He gave so many people the reassurance that we all share these emotions and fears that are deeply human. I remember that in middle school and high school when I suffered from bullying for being a skinny nerd, and also when I had troubles with my first girlfriends, it was Chester's voice that gave me the feeling I am not alone, that there is someone out there who knows what I feel, and it helped me more than I can image, and I am forever grateful for this. I don't know the place I would be in if it wasn't for his songs to tell me that it's okay to feel and go through pain. Of course I am in my 20-s now and have more perspective and I am not in such a dark place anymore, but for a teenager like I was back then, it was so important to know someone knows what it's all like. As long as I live on this world, I will forever keep the memory of Chester in my mind. R.I.P.

it was 2001 when it was first released, back in the time when mental health issues weren't recognized yet and people would only tell you to "cheer up" or "go out often" when you tell them what you've been going through. Chester Bennington, Mike Shinoda, the rest of the band and all their songs would always be close to my heart.

The video is about a girl who has to deal with her fathers abuse towards her . Sadly, Chester himself was abused as a child and I can see he used his music to convey his own emotions. And it is conveyed in this song. thank you Chester for the amazing music. That helped by battle my own depression as a teenager. Now at 28 in still battling depression. And music has helped me stay alive and has given my life meaning. Hybrid theory is currently number 3 in iTunes. It feels like 2001 again. Except back then there was no iTunes... I was hoping a for a new album that sounded similar to hybrid theory. But now in the end it doesn't even matter anymore. The band will most likely break up after this. 😢😢💔💔 RIP Chester. Saw LP at the BFD concert in SJ with my brother back in the day. There was a mosh pit close to the stage and someone fell and was getting trampled. LP stopped the concert immediatly and demanded ppl pick them up and help. LP then made us all repeat the answer to their question "When you see someone fall, what do you do!?" PICK THEM UP! The concert resumed after Chester announced that we need to look out for each other and be safe and if he thought we were not doing that the concert would end. Immediately the atmosphere changed and ppl were being more respectful. I have always considered this to be the best concert I ever attended, and I have been to many. The care they showed for fans was touching...I wish we could've been there to pick Chester up when he needed it😥💔. Prayers for his family, friends and all us fans who are grieving this loss. Suicide is never the solution...talk to people, chances are they care more than you know.

Not really, they always sing about depression, Chester even said that inside of his head is "another Chester that just wants to bring him down" and after one of his best friends died, and the fans didn't react that great on the new songs, including that he had problems with drugs and alcohol, it's not that unexpected, so in conclusion this year was terrible for Chester :(( R.I.P Chester...

Now I see that Linkin Park was and is necessary for the world of Rock. I'm ashamed of how ignorant I was about this band, for years. Nowadays, I can't stop listening to them. It's not a prophecy, depression is real struggle day to day, some people get situational depression and but get what is normal to them to be happy. Clinical depression other mood disorders it's a rare occasion to feel happy or ok. His music did not foretell his fate. His music was art, expression his anger, self loathing, years of pain, pointless depression, and it not only help him survive in a world and the celeberiy industry that focuses on being Normal, but he brought music to the counter culture and all youth who connect. They all feel something, for some it puts in words to their existential existence, or Current state of apathy. It was not destined to be because, he lost the battle with him self, he lost or ran out of a passion for the one thing, he might of had left. That in this over populated, pre distopian world we currently live in. Where taking your own life is compared to that of being a for told prophecy, meant to drive the protagonist to then fulfill said prophecy. Pick up a book, and just respect the artist.
