Lyrics:
Forfeit the game before somebody else
Takes you out of the frame and puts your name to shame
Cover up your face, you can't run the race
The pace is too fast, you just won't last
You love the way I look at you
While taking pleasure in the awful things you put me through
You take away if I give in
My life, my pride is broken
You like to think you're never wrong
You live what you've learned
You have to act like you're someone
You live what you've learned
You want someone to hurt like you
You live what you've learned
You want to share what you have been through
You live what you've learned
You love the things I say I do
The way I hurt myself again, just to get back at you
You take away, when I give in
My life, my pride is broken
You like to think you're never wrong
You live what you've learned
You have to act like you're someone
You live what you've learned
You want someone to hurt like you
You live what you've learned
You want to share what you have been through
You live what you've learned
Forfeit the game before somebody else
Takes you out of the frame and puts your name to shame
Cover up your face, you can't run the race
The pace is too fast, you just won't last
Forfeit the game before somebody else
Takes you out of the frame and puts your name to shame
Cover up your face, you can't run the race
The pace is too fast, you just won't last
You like to think you're never wrong
You live what you've learned
You have to act like you're someone
You live what you've learned
You want someone to hurt like you
You live what you've learned
You want to share what you have been through
You live what you've learned
You like to think you're never wrong(Forfeit the game)
You live what you've learned
You have to act like you're someone(Forfeit the game)
You live what you've learned
You want someone to hurt like you(Forfeit the game)
You live what you've learned
You want to share what you have been through
You live what you've learned

The year was 2002. It was a Sunday evening. Our mom irons our weekly school clothes. This song comes in. My brother increases the TV volume. We argue as to who's going to rap Mike's verse. Life was simple. I miss my mom.

@fueledbypaintwater
@fueledbypaintwater 2 жыл бұрын
@Aryaman no, there are plenty of bands that are considered hard rock that have screams in them. This band changed my life (not metaphorically). I have struggled with PTSD since I was young, and before I could name it or express a word out loud this band helped me find that internal strength inside to put words to feelings, and fight back. I hope they understand that even with losing Chester, they have made a real difference in the world. ♡

When I was 14 my dad gave me two important things: this album and a walkman CD player to listen to it on. When my mom would lock me out, or scream at me, or get me in a stranglehold on the wall, I really felt like Chester got me in a way no other human possibly could (in these comment sections alone, though, I've found others that get it too). This song in particular resonated with me in those times, those days, those moments, and it's still oddly cathartic in that way decades later. (I ended up living with my dad fulltime along with my brother a couple years later which ended up being a great benefit, it wasn't all bad) sorry for the blogment, I just have deep feelings about this song/album
