OOT 100% SRM is insane too. According to a quick search on the leaderboard, there are only 19 people who've completed that speedrun in years. The top two are pretty close to a three hour time, but the rest have a pretty big gap between them (19th place being over five hours). I'm sure my fellow ZFG feet fetishists would agree that that speedrun is ridiculously difficult, not too take away from the difficulty of WW.

I find it crazy how it was like the community created a separate game out of the game. They created the baby mechanics of super swimming and basic storage, which are then applied zelda style to get through a variety of puzzles to skip the normal means necessary, and then as you get farther into the run there are newer and harder variations of the mechanics and uses for them. Wind waker break the world edition.

Unit perfect: If you're familiar with subpixels, it's like that, but even worse because units are higher precision. In 2d games, the player's visible position on screen has to line up with pixels, but that's only necessary when drawing the sprite. Many 2d games actually divide pixels up into smaller measurements, because it allows more precise control over the player's speed/movement. 3d games do the same technique, except that since the polygons that make up a mesh - like your character, and the level geometry - aren't restricted to pixels on the screen, these coordinates are usually far more precise. Often player movement speeds multiply some base speed by a number to calculate player movement, making it extremely difficult to effectively position the player at precise coordinates. Very often the only way to position the player at certain locations will involve setups like starting out from a specific corner, or walking against an angled wall, or a bizarre combination of actions which slightly modify your coordinates to try to position yourself more precisely than you could just walking around.

Wind waker gc is definitely the most physically intensive Zelda lol. Also I remember when there was a frame perfect save and quit on great fish island after super swimming to it or you get soft locked, back in the day, that will probably be the hardest trick in a Zelda ever. There is something to be said about twilight princess gc being maybe as hard as tww when like half of the run if you fail a trick you have to reset but it’s a different kinda difficult. Also Zelda one any% may be the hardest to not die in. Level 9 following the any% route every room took me multiple tries using save states each room. I never did it all in one go, its such a good game.

All Zelda related content before N64 was foundational. Starting with OOT the LOZ universe stepped into the next dimension and we still live in that era to this day. Some year soon enough we can move into the next level, experiencing the LOZ as if we are link through 1 or 2 more major moves forward in VR 😄 Hyperbole
