You don't know how watching your videos and reading what youre thinking helps me to remember the small things that make me happy. Recently my kennel lost 5 of our 6 puppies this season. I'm very very sad, but for 15 or 20 min I can watch you and your family just be happy and grateful. You really have been a kind friend to me and I thank you.

That citrus jelly looks delicious! Hope I can find it when we're back in Tokyo in a few weeks. My daughter is seeing so many things she wants to eat again that you bought :) I'm happy that she is enthousiastic about tofu, not just sweets (though definitely wants me to make a parfait as you did, but with ice cream not yogurt 😅). Did you know that you can soak plain warabimochi (without the kinako) in the kakigori syryp? That way you can colour the warabi mochi and give it a flavour. It looks so cute with different colours on a stick like dango. I want that apple shaped cutting board! My daughter has a pink plastic one in that shape now as she learns cooking.

Hi linna 👋👋👋!! Been watching since 2020. I remember you mentioning someone telling you how to check an avocado 🥑. To learn 📚 why you take the stem off... you look 👀 inside where the stem 🥑↖️ was and it should look 1/2 green and 1/2 brown, that way you know it's good 👍 if you press on it... it bruises and goes bad 😮😮💨😰 quickly. Also... if you see butternut squash again... roast it in your microwave oven or pan fry it then it'll be yum.

4:17 Did you see the machine wrapping the wet umbrella with cling film? That's civilised. Besides Japan How many countries in the entire World do that? Not many I suppose.
@krdiaz8026 Жыл бұрын
We have it in some places in the Philippines. It's not really a machine. It holds the plastic and you need to insert your umbrella into it. When you pull away, another plastic pops into place because they are held together via perforations, like how bathroom tissue squares are held together.

@@LinnainJapan I like the Weck jars so much, too. My grandmother used to make her own pickled cucumbers in them. In German, there's even a verb deduced from the name "Weck": "einwecken" - which means to preserve sth, to pickle sth or to can sth.

I'm wondering why everything in the grocery store is sold in such small packages. Such aa a few potatoes in the bag or 2 or 3 carrots, etc.
@andersonomo597 Жыл бұрын
Small families, small kitchens, close proximity to shops, high standards for freshness are some of the reasons. Sometimes it's due to limited income but that's unlikely in Japan. My late Dad always said you could tell how rich a country was from the size of their shopping buggies. Here in Australia most supermarkets have mostly large and some small trolleys - and the small ones are always pounced on first, as they're far easier to manover, but even the big trolleys rarely get filled - people now seem to be buying less but buying more often, at least in the cities. Country folk do BIG shops because they have to travel considerable distances for food (source - SIL and a friend who both live on acreage in in rural areas). Grocery shopping in other countries has always fascinated me! Where are you located and how does it differ there? Cheers!
@londonlady227 Жыл бұрын
@@andersonomo597Japan is very rich and they have smaller shopping carts. Their stomachs arent a big as Australia or America, smaller portions suit them. And the fridge spaces are smaller, living areas. They most likely shop daily.
@andersonomo597 Жыл бұрын
@@londonlady227 I find even here in Australia people seem to be shopping more often and buy less each time rather than doing one huge weekly shop. I've been observing this because the little trolleys ALWAYS get grabbed first, the 10 items or less checkouts and the self-serve checkouts are always busy and you rarely see huge laden trolleys in the stores. I think smaller portions would benefit us all!! You rarely see obese Japanese people, so they must be doing something right!! I take it you are in the UK? Have heard that energy prices and increased food prices are making it really tough there! If so, I really hope things improve soon. Cheers from Sydney!
