My Dad was my best friend also. I was such a tomboy! We camped, fished, hunted, garage saled & a million other things. He passed in 2012. Depression hit HARD & as you said, the hurt never, ever goes away. My coping mechanism is reminding myself how extremely lucky I was. I have memories that are so special. He even let me go with him to his weekly bowling "with the guys". I'd read or color & wait patiently for him. He taught me to bowl, also. I won't let grief take any of that away from me. When I'm super sad, I grab a memory & thank God for the time I had with him!! ❤❤❤

We still laugh about it. If shopping in hardware stores, being able to handle power tools and tackle tough projects, not being afraid to be alone and adventurous, laughing hysterically with the person you're with, and driving a rugged vehicle that can handle rough terrain are Lesbian indicators, who wouldn't want to be mistaken for one! It’s not just none of our business what other women decide about having children- it can be heartbreaking for women who are unable and did want children. I always think about my best friend from high school telling me in our 20’s that she hated babies and she wouldn’t even hold them. A few years later she told me that wasn’t the case, she had just found out that she was unable to have children. It took her several years to be able to even look at a baby without crying. It’s just another reason why we really need to mind our business. People are always going through things that we know nothing about, kindness is the answer, and it’s not kind to pry.

There is a man who lives in West Texas in the desert who has an awesome homestead. I can't remember what his channel is right now, but I'll try to find it. He put a sloping roof on his house and has large water containers to catch rainwater. I was shocked that he was actually able to catch that much water, but I guess it does rain in the desert. He also has raised beds where he grows veggies. Also, there is one guy who planted desert grasses on his land and then desert trees, eventually, a spring came up. He now has an oasis in the desert with wildlife and water and large trees. Also, watch "Greening the Desert." It's an awesome documentary about a man living the desert in Israel, who saw them burning brush and decided to make compost out of it instead and amend the soil. It's mind blowing what a little creativity can do to a desert landscape. I'm subscribing, because I want to see this project from beginning to end.

OK, this whole video is *amazing* . It made me cry, smile, feel very angry (misogyny! agh), inspired and impressed. It's an interesting thing to watch how peoples fears shape their life, either by them avoiding them and deflecting, or leaning in and growing past them (like you push yourself to). I'm trying *very* hard to not make this comment just about the horrible misogynistic vitriol and the pressures and expectations weighed on women... There is a lot of beauty and support out there in the world too and power in sharing it - so THANK YOU! As an aside; my mom has recently begun fretting over my lack of a man and lack of desire to have any children and has begun to say things like; "You need to find a man who's handy with tools and can do these things for you." And I take a deep breath, remind myself that she's saying it because she loves me & worries (and *ahem* internalized sexism) and tell her "I AM that man, mom."

Misogyny? Seriously? The expectations placed on men and women to marry and have children are often driven by selfish impulses from their families. Both sexes face pressures that are not fair. Don't play into the divide, we both face unique unfair pressures.
@samanthamorrissette5211
@samanthamorrissette5211 2 ай бұрын
@@Make-Asylums-Great-Again Misogyny really yes, I was referring to the comments from guys that she shared in the video (what they were saying, and how what they were saying reflects the expectations on women because of misogyny, like how they expect a man to be behind everything). The pressures to marry and procreate are absolutely shoved onto both sexes, with their own nuances and difficulties, and it sucks for everyone. (Though it is still a pressure still touched by misogyny, both things can be true at the same time, men are also harmed by it)

Not choosing parenthood. Sacrifices which really are no such thing. You have brave conversations about these things and so much more! Such a gem!

Just recently latched on2 your video's and have subscribed. I could identify over many things u showed and discussed. Your comments 2wards the end about grieving resonated within me deeply. Every one grieves differently ,in their own way and in their own time. My hubby passed almost 2 years ago and this Sunday would've marked our 40'th Wedding Anniversary 😢. I miss him so sooo much. The grieving is profound for me. I appreciate your video's because it brings good memories of when he was alive and our time 2gether. We both loved the outdoors and spent a great deal of time interior camping,hiking,portaging together and with our Alaskan Malamutes. Thank you for your video's,your honesty and integrity. I love your dog. She reminds me of mine...Keep on doing what your doing and leave all the negative naysayers behind in the dirt. I'm impressed with your life and accomplishments. No one should judge another until they've walked a mile in their moccasins ...God Bless you and your beloved dog...

Omg! You so perfectly articulated what I’ve been trying to figure out how to say! I live in a shuttle bus that I built out myself and have been living in it for 9 months now. Your comment about the small struggles of van life making what you do/have sweeter. Wow! Nailed it! I’ve always been fiercely independent and a problem solver and I am loving the little day to day struggles and go to sleep at every night with a great sense of accomplishment. Love your journey!

I just found your page! I’m drawn to adventure and the outdoors. I’m 50 and travel long distances to learn about new places and challenge myself. I’ve been transitioning from tent camping, car camping and hopefully soon I’ll buy a van. The transition has been a challenge. In the past few years, I’ve had some mobility issues that can slow me down. I’ve had to reflect on my ego wants and my limits physically, but I will not stop. I can do things in my own time. I will continue to explore and it is scary making big life decisions and purchases! I’m also a solo female traveler and I’ve learned to trust my instincts and support from others. I love that your page is a combo of what your life looks like, q&a and reflections on life. Thank you!

I think the reason why you get asked if you are gay is because of your power and energy. Those are usually considered masculine traits, but you break all the societal boundaries with your hunger for knowledge and your fierce independence. Your physical strength and endurance is phenomenal. I think it may intimidate women, when it should really inspire them. You chose a man who compliments you in every way. A beautiful match I must say. You are just incredible Linnea., as is Chris. Blessings to you both. ❤

Losing your parents is a grief like no other. Also, it's something you can't comprehend until you walk through it. Others can walk alongside but it's a solitary journey. I lost both my parents in 2020. I'm only now starting to feel like myself. I cried buckets, I journaled and I ate lots of ice cream. I found uplifting u-tubers, like Linea, and followed their journey. There are gifts along the path that help you carry the grief. One of my gifts was a sweet little robin. He came to my patio door every morning. He would cock his head and peer in, like he was checking on me. My heart hurts for you. I know how hard it is. Linea has so much wisdom. I love listening to her counsel. Much love, hugs and prayers from a fellow grief warrior.

This video might be one of my favorite of yours that I've seen out of all the time I've followed you. I loved your responses especially to the question of losing a parent, being queer, and then your view on choosing yourself in this life despite society's norms. I love that you always show an alternative and beautiful life you're building. As a queer person myself who has lost both of my parents, all grandparents, and several friends with no other blood family alive that accepts me the deep grief you talk about I very much feel in my daily life still to this day at 34 years old. Continue being your authentic self, the world is a better place for you being you ♥️

You won't go "Crazy" (rough word for people with brain injuries so maybe don't use so much)....you will find a new way. I'm going out again soon....hearing aids, cane and all but she took out my camper, so vanlifing....you might actually find you're a better person because you won't say things like "you'll go crazy" and you will see us....I also have PTSD from hanging upside down in an SUV. Huge fan...keep going....

I’ve lost both my parents and it was when I became spiritual that I understood we all eternal beings. We graduate from one life to the next because energy never dies, only is transferred or transformed. You see or feel the vibration of all that surrounds you and understand everything is energy, I know you do. Graduating is truly a celebration. Which brings me to the sad souls that place judgment on others, they will one day understand how the actions they took had an impact on others and feel themselves what pain, sadness and grief they caused. This is why unconditional love for all is so important. Anyway you’re rockin it woman. You are freaking amazing!!! Much respect as always ✌️

I'm (f) going to be 65 this summer; have lived in a '93 pre-fab camper van for 3 years; bought a 2019 Ram utility van this summer; and am building it out myself. What I've learned from watching a gazillion hours of male and female builders is that mistakes will happen. You plan plan plan, act, and then execute. If not up to your expectations, pause, plan again and re-execute. Not gender dependent or age dependent.

My son just graduated high school, they are all consuming, and expensive. And brining a baby into a rain forest isn’t recommended lol. I had my son later @ 37 before that I had a ball, traveled and enjoyed so much. Then after that I guess it was time for me. But even at that time I could have gone either way. I was whole without kids. I love him he’s amazing and I don’t regret my choices. And so glad I had fun and traveled while I was still young and had money, kids are expensive lol. So definitely do what’s right for you.

I feel very sorry for the women who have to deal with men who not only think that way, but speak to anyone like that... With that said, The nurse in me has to say, I hope you're wearing a good sunscreen everyday, all day!
