I put information about this song in the video description but I want to use this comment to thank my subscriber Jeremy Borum who again came from very far away and generously spent his time and energy and expertise working on my piano for over 16 hours!!! He had already worked on it before one day by fixing my broken D key and readjusting many pins and tuning it. Over the course of 2 days he regulated all of the keys, shaped all of the hammers and adjusted them, repaired several broken strings, repaired a crack in the bridge, and wedged the sound board so that it no longer buzzes. It feels and sounds SOOOOOO much better to play. I can't even describe how much. It feels like a brand new piano. I think you will be able to hear how much better it sounds in this video. I am so grateful to Jeremy for helping me this way and being so nice to me. I think it sounds amazing but he said that he did not have time to tune it to his very top standards after making so many adjustments and repairs so if the tuning doesn't sound completely perfect it isn't because he is not a master tuner. It is because he did so many other important things for me. I am so happy that Jeremy fixed my piano. Let me know in the comments if you can hear the difference.

It is impossible for a young man your age to understand how profoundly influential this tune was. "A Charlie Brown Christmas" was the first animated portrayal (other than some TV commercials) of the Peanuts characters from the immensely popular daily comic strip-a wholesome picture book using the characters to portray simple pleasures, "Happiness is a Warm Puppy", hit the New York Times best-seller list in 1962, so you know these characters were universally beloved at the time. Ever after that, those characters were always closely associated with a 'jazzy' sound; and a young piano-playing friend of mine around the year 2000 still complained that when people knew he played piano, _this_ was the tune they asked if he knew. It amazes me that people still know these characters.

Nice playing as always, you're almost at 6000 subscribers, that is BONKERS, I hope young folks will take your example and be inspired to do what you've done and make great music!

HUGE KUDOS TO Jeremy Borum! Thanks Jeremy!-- you're going to become famous as the technician who rescued a young prodigy from a sinking piano! It sounds very good -- much more evenness and fundamental tone coming through from the hammers -- a little less bright, a bit more rich -- almost as though you changed the strike point -- but great hammer voicing to be sure -- nice job! That's about the best I've heard a spinet sound -- sounds much larger! THANK YOU again for all you've been able to do! Leander -- THANKS for playing this! I know that I and several others requested it -- you did a great job with it! The happiness I see tells me that you are sensitive to and aware of good quality sound -- and the improvement in the piano definitely brings it out. I can hardly wait to see your reaction when you finally get to play on a well-conditioned grand piano in a room with great acoustics! You're gonna really love it!.
@JeremyBorumComposer
@JeremyBorumComposer 9 сағат бұрын
Insider secret: One of the notes in the very recognizable bass line was missing because of broken strings on that and a neighboring note, so the hammer would travel into the void space and hit a neighboring note instead. Today was the first day it was possible to play this song and he wasted no time!
@aBachwardsfellow
@aBachwardsfellow 8 сағат бұрын
@@JeremyBorumComposer I did sorta hear something like that happening previously. But you're absolutely correct! He started grabbing all those previously-missing notes with great gusto! We can all see the absolute joy in his playing -- he obviously thrives on musical expression. I can't wait to hear him try out a really nice grand in a good acoustic -- he'll nearly flip out with happiness (as will we all!). Thanks again for everything you did -- that's the best-sounding spinet I've ever heard!
