Bose CAN make outstanding noise canceling headphones. I got a headset with connections to two radios (communication radios, not FM) in the Army that had Bose speakers and earcups. Not only were they great when using radios as they blocked out loud noise (gunfire) but I could still hear my guys around me as well as could talk and hear people over the radios. Even without them connected to radios, they made great noise cancelling headphone for going to the range. When I was a Drill Sergeant, while at the range I could even hear better with those on (i.e. could hear Privates messing around at the far end of the range...much to their surprise) while blocking out the shooting. Bose really nailed it with those...and I DEFINITELY do not have them anymore because I 100% gave those back to the Army before I retired........
@Varadiio
@Varadiio 6 жыл бұрын
These types of active noise cancelling ear pro are pretty common. There are expensive ones for military use, some even fit under the helmet, and have features like microphones. The basic ones can be found at walmart or a sporting goods store. The volume is incredible. You can hear conversations that would normally be far too quiet. They have a flaw, though. Direction of sound is completely lost, and this takes some time to acclimate to. I don't know if there are models with better directional sound, but even then I doubt they could be anything close to the situational awareness of bare ears.
@petera.morrison2095
@petera.morrison2095 6 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, but this was also on point that "NC" over the ear headphones are getting really cheap in quality of late. The build quality of the ones I have tried in audio and electronics shops - stink. Many of the "NC" patents expired, so there are a bunch of knock offs electronics in them now too. The Army (and other military service) versions are expensive, because they were built to last, tested and therefore had to have great noise protection built in to avoid hearing loss. Have you tried the Bose T5 Tactical Headsets? Curious if they are available to civilians and if so, as good as the ones you had.
@Ssensei12
@Ssensei12 6 жыл бұрын
Millitary ear defenders are designed to amplify sounds such as talking while cancelling noise such as gunfire. If you're just in an aircraft you're probably best trying the QC25's. Especially at that price. If you want more comfortable ear pads, whether it be for ear defenders or noise cancelling headphones I wholly recommend checking out a product called "sightlines" by noisefighters. They are gel ear cups which have a better seal and are more comfortable. They even have cutouts at the top if you need to wear eye protection or glasses and you don't want them being crushed into the side of your head or breaking the seal.

From my experience, I just got a popup that I had to ignore and press volume up again or something, it's supposed to be just a warning in case you don't know what you're doing... Also, about old earphones - Creative's Ep-630 or 660 >_> aside from earphones with literal sponge (can't remember the brand anymore), they had one of the better bass and loudness (the phones I mentioned before that I don't remember company of actually required me to use EQ to lower bass). After sticking with my favs, I went for some Xiaomi, and they're not as good as they're advertised... Though we're in category of budget earphones...........

Hi there! 3 years using my 1 pair of QC25s here. They’ve been durable, dropped many times on concrete (while in the case mind you), traveled across the world in cars, planes, buses, in coffee shops on an almost daily basis since the beginning. They were $300 when I got them and $180 is a steal. They do the job, they’re comfy, sound great, but please oh please make sure you have an extra battery on hand or you will be disappointed. These (imo) only ring true in good audio quality when the noise cancelling is on. That must be a small % of duds because mine have been rock solid and I am convinced that the quiet comforts are worth every penny

I own the Bose QC35 (first gen) headphones. I can safely say that these headphones are my best audio-purchase! I travel a lot with the bus (2 hours to and from school), the noise of the bus is almost completely blocked. If I compare the ambient noise with the earpods from Apple and the QC35, the QC35's completely obliterate the earpods (obviously). But I have to say when you disable the noisecancelling feature, the audio that the headphone produces isn't quite good. It just excells when combined with the noisecancelling feature. I own these headphones for one and a half years now, I still have no problems with it.

As someone with ADHD that has extreme trouble concentrating on work and school, the QC35s have been an absolute lifesaver. Ever since I found out about them I wanted them. When I finally purchased them, my life changed for the better. Nowadays I carry them around all the time. They're great headphones, but the pads can get worn out easily and replacing them with original ones is expensive ($30). That being said, I'm sure there are much value-oriented options out there. I totally understand why the 25s are selling like hotcakes, though.

Well, the thing is that that's the point of this entire series. It just serves to rationalise why the hell [this product] is at the top of its category on Amazon. That's pretty much it. The Bose QC25s happen to just be great all around, so just say it's great and move on. There's no debate to be had there, since this isn't a "why should you buy this" but just a "why people are buying this". I'll agree it's very poor that they just accepted as is (even going as far as to say "best in category" when many have said Sony's new offers are a lot better), but it's clear they fulfilled what they wanted to with this video and anything more would've just been extra credit.

Tired of hearing this line repeated. I've had everything from AKG's more expensive offerings to the Bose QC25s and I honestly couldn't care which of them I was listening on; normal people don't listen to music scrutinising every note for accuracy, they simply listen to the music with whatever they have, passively enjoying it. Also, it can be argued that there isn't an objectively 'better' sound signature. You might say that the more accurate a speaker is the better it is, but for most people they pick a set that sounds good to them. That's what matters!

What I like best about LTT is that every video is informative. Even this, which is essentially a review (which should be opinion), is presented in a way that informs. Not just on the product or the reviewer's opinion, but why this specific device is popular. Getting into the actual details and trying to figure PEOPLE out through the tech they buy. It's just really cool. Keep up the great work!

The problem with anything "better" than QC25 is that Bose made the battery non-replaceable and pretty tiny and short-lived as a bonus. That's why I won't get anything better than QC25 because I intend to use the headphones for longer than the battery lasts. Plus, the replacement time for the AAA cell is seconds compared to charging time of an integrated battery. And if you use AAA Li-ion cells (1.5V) you don't need to purchase any batteries when you can re-charge your cells instead.

I ordered the Bose QC35 back in 6/2016 and they still work just as good as they did on day 1. I use them at my local public library where there are groups of noisy kids and people on their cell phones and even the occasional band playing music for the kids. I also use them on the NY subway where I can now fall asleep and miss my stop. They do not cancel all sound but they cancel enough sound that I do not need to blast the music.

I own the QC35, and to my knowledge, they use similar sound canceling tech to the QC25s. I've owned dozens of high-end headphones ($300CAD+). I've got to say, I've never had a better pair, they are just amazing. I'm a software engineer. In my industry, it's pretty standard that people have good headphones for working in the office. A number of my co-workers had the QC25s and absolutely loved them. I wanted a new pair and was asking for recommendations. They all said I should get the QC35. I paid ~$500CAD for them and initially thought It was a bit insane, call it buyers anxiety. That anxiety went away in about a day after using them. Nothing I've ever used has come close to the comfort or sound quality of these. As for on a plane, I fly for business occasionally, and yes, these really do work on a plane. They make plane rides fun, and completely remove the sensation of pressure you get from the engine noise, dulling it out completely, so you can relax. I've had them for almost 2 years now, and I love them just as much as the first day. Absolutely unbeatable IMO.

Wow... I must be the exception. I got my QC25 about 4 years now. The only issue I had was cushion breaking which I have replaced easily with replacement kit. I have gone thru over 30 "gaming" headset and none of them last. I have a big head. The type of head that you need to adjust your baseball cap to the last pin. Every time I put on the headphones, I gradually bend the headband to a point where it snaps. Bose QC25 has never done that. Plus the comfort level on this headphones is astounding. It may not makes sense to you but it actually feels like nothing on my head most of the time. I sit very near a portable AC. QC25 does an excellent job of filtering that sound. Ever since I got this headphone, I really don't care about my PC noise level either. Which saved me tons of money on builds for buying regular parts instead of fanless mode hardware.

My Bose 25's are still working after many years, but had too renew the ear pads. The Bluetooth version Bose 35 /2 £325 + tried them on at an airport store and are they are impressive however there is a converter for the 25's to Bluetooth but the battery only lasts 5 hrs for about £70-£80

Have been a heavy user of my QC25s since I bought them back in 2015. Aside from having to replace the ear foam pieces once, they have not given me any trouble.

If you want next-level, Nuraphones. Full Stop. The WH-1000XM3 is good, but it's not Nuraphones good, the Nura's are on a different level. That said, NC on the Nura's is mostly physical, not active NC like Bose/Sony. For travel, you want both active and isolation/clamping so you can sleep or at least rest properly.

@Toliman. 6 жыл бұрын
@@Stofzuigerr1 The Sony xm3 headphones were released this year, based on the 2015 mdr 1000x series which is effectively an iteration, not a new product. The nuraphone was released in ~2017, the QC25 is a well known iteration that gets updates too. If you wanted to compare the Sony and the Bose, the qc35 II model should be effective, but there's apparently a new bose QC coming. /shrug. Check out review if you're going to buy either, ie rtings.com or amazon reviews to look for manufacturing problems for both models. The pair that Linus has, is the refresh of the QC25, which is similar to the Sony WM-1000xm2 in age. I suppose you could substitute the QC 35 for the 25, but price is a major factor as well in the choice, ie sub $150 wireless headphones are very different in quality to the wired ones.

@Dylan de Wit Of course it is! Audio reproduction at the speaker/headphone end hasn't advanced in terms of what we know or can do in at least 20 years. Noise cancelling is another story but having your headphone be 4 years old is no excuse for them sounding like straight trash. There have been headphones that sound miles better than modern Bose cans in equivalent price ranges for longer than I've been alive.

I've owned the QC25s for about 2 or 3 years and I absolutely not taken good care of them. They are very abused. And they still work fantastic. I have however tried to take good care of the cord and have not had to replace it yet so really I have been quite impressed they still work as they just roll around in my car when I'm not using them

Its my understanding that Bose bought the noise canceling tech from Audi, who were trying to develop it for the cabins of their cars, and could not make it work.

I guess ur waiting for the WAN show to address the NCIX/Newegg data breach. Not sure why you wouldn't make a video ASAP to ur 6.9M audience. This is urgent, people need to know this so they can alert their CC company. I can't believe I had to find out about this from a 1k subreddit and not a tech news media outlet.

I bought Sennheiser PXC 550 for 300 and I'm satisfied with it frankly. Excellent battery life lasts almost 4 days of average usage, and its Adaptive Noise Cancellation works perfectly. Sound quality is one the best and it has brain mixing bass if you enhance it with the official software.

One thing folks can do if they really want the Bose QuietComfort 25, is go to the nearest Bose Factory Store and they'll have some brand new ones, some factory renewed ones, or both. The factory renewed ones come with a one-year warranty and come with all the accessories that would in a brand new box.
