Warnings about casting: Molten metal and water/moisture can explode when put together. Even if you end up spilling molten metal on damp concrete, that can be enough to cause a steam explosion. It doesn't happen every time, but be EXTREMELY careful when melting metal. It sounds like what you want is a small, electric, desktop furnace that can melt a couple ounces of copper, bronze, brass, aluminum, zinc, silver, etc. then be poured into some kind of mold. That's pretty reasonable and only a couple hundred bucks. Get gloves, an apron, a facemask, and, if you're melting things with zinc in it, a respirator (or just do it outside).

However there didn't seem to be even nitpick of GN, and all criticism about Linus. Is Linus perfect? Do a little experiment for me, if you actually want to understand our view on this, go on indeed, and get an average wage of the entry level (retail, fast food, serving, etc) positions in your area, figure out what that avareag wage would give you a month, then try and use that amount to pay rent, electric, internet, phone, health insurance, car insurance, food, and an extra 250 for miscellaneous hobbies, then tell me how much you went over. 40% of the American populace is in poverty, you can either educate yourself on what people are dealing with or continue to stock your head in the sand.

my experience when it comes to video game purchases: Casuals don't care as much as one would think about price if they're only buying 3-4 games per year, and they're going to be buying their favourite go-to franchises. Same with hardcore gamers. They'll have a small number of must-haves that they need to get on launch day, and they'll wait on the rest. Where that price matters is those sales. Publishers want the $100 price point so they can have a "75% off sale" and it's still $25.

$90 is honestly the correct amount, it WILL eliminate the safe bet hedging done by devs to appease ownership and shareholders for guaranteed returns. I've talked about this extensively with multiple people I know in the industry over the last decade and they all say the biggest thing holding publishers back from no longer holding devs hostage to spreadsheets is pricing not staying up with production cost

on the topic of cosmetics in 1:11, I remember playing Fable 3 on the 360 and you can buy different costumes (sometimes you were gifting costumes from missions like the chicken suit). I imagine in today's gaming landscape, if the same game was made today, that chicken suit and all the others would cost real money or be locked behind game pass of sort on top of being a very rushed and buggy release. Thankfully it was before then. Rip Lionhead Studios. as for games going up to $100, I typically buy my games on sale anyways regardless of platform I'm on. To me I used to love going to a used game store and buying a bunch of used games for $10-$20 or so. Now that most games are essentially all-digital, I become more hesitant as to buy games because other than Valve, returning bad games is a chore and a half. So for all games to rise to $100, they NEED to be great, not good enough, but great.

As the CEO that you sought to have in place here to manage things for years, I need you to sit your arse down, take a deep breath and write down what ever you want to say that you are feeling emotional about and send it through to me before you broadcast it for 15m ppl to listen to. For me with Louis it is a shame. Linus was the first massive tech channel to place themselves firmly in the camp of right to repair at the risk of the other tech relationships. I was really happy for Louis and proud of the strides he appeared to be making in achieving his goals. With that as a context for me, it really says a massive amount that he has felt the need to speak so loudly and so publicly and in such depth about this.

And the response where Linus brought up the damaged MB happened AFTER the end onf LTX 2019 after LR accused him of being a cheapskate. Implying Linus tried to use this to force him to attend LTX after the event ended is mindblowing

My problem with the base price of games increasing is that so many games are fiiled with mictransactions now. It used to be normal that when you bought a game at full price that you actually got the full game, and if a game was free to play there usually would be (optional) microtransactions. What we are seeing now is that games that ask a full 70 dollars for the base game still also lock away half the content behind extra pay walls, super duper elite editions of the game for 150 dollars, in game shops to buy cosmetics or even actual pay to win elements that get constantly jammed in your face. You can't really compare the base price of games in the past anymore because of this in my opinion. I wouldn't mind game prices increasing if this wasn't an issue but we all know every game will just move up it's base price and still stick to their microtransactions just the same.

One that he knew was not in use anymore since he previously corresponded with steve on his new number. He is now using it as evidence to say that steve also doesnt reply to messages. If he didnt write it himself a) why was an assistant corresponding with Steve on behalf on linus, without making it clear in the text that they were writing on behalf of linus in the first place? And b) if the intention of linus using that assistant was to come off as himself, why would he use it as evidence when it was a mistake on the assistant's part, sending the text to an out of use number therefore laying the blame, solely on the assistant. However you spin it, it was a blunder by linus at best and malicious at worst, that he is now trying to reverse onto steve. Victimising himself.

I've had a few royally screwy wisdom teeth taken out, always with just local anesthetic. What's mattered the most in my experience of two different operations has been the professionalism and good compassion of the doctor or surgeon. Having the surgeon narrate in a soothing voice how the operation is going helped my nerves a TON! Hearing him tell me that we're already halfway done is releaving to hear. Also when it feels like something is not going like you thought it would, it's reassuring to hear the doctor calmly explain what's going on and it's not a big deal, it just takes a little more work. Then, as my mouth is stitched back together and my mouth is stuffed full of gauze, so I can't even speak, he says to me. "Hey, life wins." It felt so good! As I couldn't even say "Thankyou", I gave a deep bow. The operation didn't hurt. I felt no pain. My mouth was just foreign to me and bleeding. It fealt like I'd got punched in the face, but because of adrenaline didn't feel the pain. With painkillers and a fluid diet for a few days, I recovered. The way your body heals is miraculous. I thank God for the doctors!

In the end, this just ends up making LTT even more motivated in regards to the quality and trustworthiness of the content they provide. So, things just get better from here on out because they're going to work even harder than they already have been through the years. To be clear, I've always supported LTT and will continue to. Regardless of anyone's opinion, it's definitely a shame to see creators doing anything other than working together to provide for the people. The potential collabs that could have happened between two popular channels is entirely dead, and that's just a loss for the community. Ultimately this creates divide where their could have been tons of support for both parties involved.

It would be nice if you discussed the point of Luis towards the end of his video. For those unaware in a previous video, Linus said that he tried to contact Steve through text, and he never got a reply. Luis and Steve discussed this and realised that Linus sent that text to an old number of Steve's even though they had never had any communication on that number and Linus had contacted the correct number on other emergencies(the hacking of his channel etc). Did you intentionally send a message to Steve's old cellphone number?

How often do you switch phones, and in that process of switching phones, especially between brands, do all of your contacts transfer properly ever time? I know from personal experience that this is not always the case, it is within the realm of posibility that moving between different devices he has lost the new contact and wasn't aware. Obviously speculation BUT it is a fair and reasonable interpretation of events don't you think?

As a reasonable adult that watches videos for entertainment and just gets information about products, I couldn't care less about the drama from either parties. I will keep watching. People act like it affects them in anyway and want to stand on a moral high ground. Frankly, most people don't care as they are already beaten down in life and want to drone out their nights watching KZbin videos. While true. I will add a small counter. That GN has fostered this authority, well to the point people call him tech Jesus, and while such a nick name is normally a joke. I have delt with people who are nothing short of devoted to the man. So what this causes, as a personal pet peeve, is that when trying to help people on reddit. Some devotee will try to invalidate my personal experience with hardware i actually have, while linking a GN video that makes a blanket proclamation that said hardware is junk. Which could cause a new PC builder to overspend, and get a worse PC. Then there is the AIO video which still causes people to build their PCs in such a way they may damage their PC.

I read through his "No you" manifesto. His claims of plagiarism on the GPU things are a bit...off. Simply because the wording is similar doesn't mean its the same thing. If thats true, then hoooo boy theres a lot of plagiarism happening in other forms of media when they cover the same topic. I was a supporter of Steve's for a while. I bought merch from him and even my awesome soldering mat from him. I am not beholden to one "tech" personality. However, when it becomes a tit for tat situation, I'm out. While you've had your share of missteps Linus you've, from my POV, taken steps to rectify the issue. Steve, however, doubles down in his wrongness and pulls in other people to pile on. It's not ethical. It's not becoming of professionals they claim to be. If I were in this situation, I would have ceased any reporting on the issue until a conversation could be had with all parties involved. Granted, I paused the video at 1:58 so I am not sure that they've made a commitment to talking it out, but I am sure there will be some effort to do so. All of this to say that this is becoming ridiculous. It puts us "fans" in an awkward position. Please settle this so we can all get on a path of figuring out how to walk together again.

Linus' wording is almost exactly the same. Steve's allegation hinges on there being no other source. How does Linus prove Steve wrong? State where he got this same info from, that was not GN. Steve simply asked for attribution, got none. And then is so invested in drama that he ... sat on it and didn't mention it for years

I was terminated and then slandered by my former employer because of untruths and misunderstandings. It cost me financially and I lost friends over it. Hardware is not as simple as you guys think. This comes from someone who has worked at 2 major hardware companies on both ASICs and FPGAs. Although the laptop project is cool, it's not something to compare to what hardware companies release because the DIY project is all finished parts pieced together. ALSO it's obvious NVIDIA doesn't care about gamers... SLI still exists and it's called NVLINK but it's not for gaming. High-speed rendering requires quick caching vertices, textures, framebuffer bins... NVLINK allows NVIDIA gpus to share cache. Just so you know... ALSO GPU virtualization requires authorized drivers because it's a huge security concern.

regarding the gpu virtualization, my company makes a super secure laptop that uses virtualization to cut off the OS from the network connectivity layer. Sadly, because there isn't much support of gpu virtualization on intel cpus, all graphical content on it has to be rendered by CPU cores and is therefore really slow. The team wanted to work with intel on this, but didn't really get anywhere. They only seem to be interested in virtualization for the data center.

SLI sucking ass has very little to do with CPU bottlenecks, it's just not worked on and supported well enough, which has been the case for a good decade at this point.

SLI died because of the delay in the data going over the SLI bridge causing latency and stable frame delivery issues. The connection was just not fast enough to maintain stable 60+fps without adding latency. You're basically adding the latency of sending the data to the slave GPU and getting it sent back to the master frame buffer to the frame time. That's ok when you have 16.7ms to play with for 60fps ... but Nvidia saw the future going >120fps and that SLI would never be able to handle it. There were also issues with the slave not having previous master frame data (and vice versa) to access for temporal rendering effects and TAA

On the hot spot temp thing, it helped me fix my card last year. Overall temp was 70's but hot spot was hitting 110. (Spot on the die where the paste had gone thin/no longer touching). May have taken me much longer to fix without the direct info.
