Great video....no music or inane comments. This footage shows the buffalo's dilemma: 1. turn and face the lion but run the risk of other members of the pride turning up, or 2. try and stay with the herd but run the risk of being attacked from the rear. Luckily, for this buffalo there were only two lions. Otherwise, he would have been in trouble. Notice that the herd did not return to help.

Good observation, but there was no actual buffalo herd.... just a few buffalos that felt too weak to return for a rescue mission.
