Lionel C&O George Washington Pacific unboxing & run

Welcome aboard! Unboxing and run of a Lionel TMCC C&O F19 Pacific steam engine made in 2007. This model of the famous George Washington 4-6-2 has some details not even seen in current trains. Beautiful engine! im glad Lionel brought this one back in legacy. I preordered two. This one, and a Halloween version. I have been hoping that Lionel would bring this model back. The detail is great!

So Ken, we owe you a big thank you. We watched your video about this engine just before leaving for the York train show. Found it at York, snagged it, and can't stop running it. I love that you guys have made the hobby a father and son activity. When my boys were younger they would help operate and make scenery. Now they just shake their heads whenever another train box arrives, LOL. The F19 still remains as one of my favorites. Case in point, its on the layout and my Legacy Chessie Greenbrier is back in its box.

A Lionel collector friend turned me on to Korean made models. In retrospect, when I compare the Korean made to Chinese the Koreans tend to be a little bit better detailed. Thanks for watching and welcome aboard!

Mr, Ken, update. Thanks to your video I ended up ordering the twine model “The Sportsman”. C&O Engine w/ Vanderbilt tender. The Sportsman carried passengers from along its route from Virginia to Winter Resorts in Michigan. -Good video 👍🏻

John, thanks for the positive comment and welcome aboard! I'm beyond happy with the detail of this engine and it runs and sounds great. The Chessie Greenbrier is back in the box but this Pacific will stay on track for awhile.

Thanks for the positive comment! I agree totally regarding quality of TMCC engines. Sure no whistle steam and extra sounds but for 2/3 price of Legacy this is a great value. Will do a review of my TMCC Korean made C&O Texan soon.

You summarized out thoughts on this detailed, tmcc engine. The newest lionel reissue will be around $1300. This engine is well worth it. We found one used at the York train show just after watching ken's video, posted our own unboxing and run video and could not be happier. Your comment made sense so we went looking at York and snagged it.

Jeeepers, man, that is no joke on the detail! Heck I never knew what those roof rectangles were for! Very nice track plan too with the graceful curves. I'll bet this is going to be a magazine-worthy layout!

Streamliner, thanks. I'm not a rivet counter but this Pacific is not missing a single detail. My goal with this version of Harpers Ferry was to use the largest curves I could fit. Check out previous layout vids with smaller curves. I used compounded or eased (different radii) to achieve a more sweeping effect in turns. The outer loop is min O72 so I can run any big engine.

@@99thObsidian Well, to tell you the truth, I've only ever done temporary tubular track layouts. My curves are more like O31, ha! 😅That said, I am thinking of investing in some Menards O54, O42 for a similar sweeping effect idea. Best of luck to you! Cb, thanks. A Lionel collector friend of mine told me that the Korean made Lionel steams were some of their best. Sure enough, not only was this Pacific Korean but the Texan I got a few months ago was too. Both highly detailed and great runners. Will do a vid of Texan soon.

Henry, I've had good luck with my nused engine purchases. Somehow knowing I got a deal makes it better than the preorder price on new. The fact that I already had a George Washington madison passenger set for it was just icing on the cake. Thanks for the comment, the hunt continues...

I got those MTH C&O Madisons like 10 years ago. I saw that they had a George Washington drumhead but didnt know about the C&O train till recently. Glad I finally have a engine that matches the train. Thanks for the comment and welcome aboard!

Rob, as a MTH guy I didn't know about Railsounds until I added TMCC to my DCS layout. TMCC engines are great values (I got this engine for just over half the upcoming Legacy version). I love the engine # specific towercom dialog and super high quality sound from Fatboy speaker.

Rob, you are correct about some surprising tmcc sounds. We discovered tmcc earlier this year when we finally found one of our must have engines, a kline tank engine with tmcc. We were dubious about a kline, but the detail, the throaty chuff of tmcc was especially satisfying. We posted a video, taking way more hours to record because we just ran and ran again that tmcc engine.

I realized that I've been in the hobby now for just over 2 decades. It's not lost on me that a lot of the engines that I've recently added are from the early 2000's. I've learned a lot designing and building layouts, upgrading to command control, ebay, FB marketplace and York. Glad to share and thankful my content is enjoyed.
