Lionel Legacy Nickel Plate Road

This video is about Lionel Legacy Nickel Plate Road #765 2-8-4 Berkshire, Lionel 6-86487. Nickel Plate Road 765 2-8-4 "Berkshire" type steam locomotive built for the Nickel Plate Road in 1944 by the Lima Locomotive Works in Lima, Ohio. Classified as a "S-2" class Berkshire, the locomotive operated fast, heavy freight and passenger trains until retirement in 1958. It is also similar in design to Pere Marquette 1225, also built by Lima.
Among the most highly-regarded steam locomotives of all time, these Berkshires remain an enduring legacy to the epitome of steam engineering and are as popular today as during their heyday. Available again in the most popular schemes in new road numbers as well as some new and colorful additions to the Lionel roster, it's time to add some Super Power to your roundhouse!

Very nice Joe. I still can't believe you have a Berkshire. I've wanted the 1225 for a whole decade when it came out in 2008. And you have one before I do LOL. Great video... The engineer end of the crew talk of this model is voiced by Rich Melvin. Rich was the engineer of the real 765 back in the 80s and 90s.

My only issue is that the steam and sand domes are on the wrong place

Yeah I understand, but it really doesn’t concern me that much.

The reason for the sand and steam dome thing is because Lionel used for the most part a generalized tooling. Some things were changed but it would have probably cost too much to create an entire new tooling for just one road name.

Does this have a smoking whistle affect. I found the L&N version of this and was wondering if they all of them came with the smoking whistle and it’s a 2017 run right?

Yes this is the most recent run. And yes, it has the whistle steam smoke effect.

SIRR Productions yea but they completed changed the looks of it. The got rid of two of the builders plates made the smoke box colors and pipes wrong and completely screwed up on the striping on the front
