These are fantastic engines I actually have the Santa Fe one purchased from Trainworld. Smokes very well and the fan is virtually silent.

Engines are nice (and the Lionel Lines version even has a recorded “whistle” sound like those found on their original postwar engines). I wouldn’t mind seeing a LionChief Plus version (not 2.0) with two chuffs per revolution and an assortment of cars behind it, like their original postwar sets and an included remote along with it. Otherwise, a nice engine overall (but too expensive, especially if you factor in the need for a Universal Remote).

I don’t think they’re too expensive. The LionChief+2.0 locomotives are their high end semi-scale locomotives. They’ve got a lot of awesome features that makes them worth it over the basic LionChief engines. $700 is a lot, but I think they’re worth it.

yes as stated below lacking a few lights but at least has a glowing firebox. is it really too much for LIONEL to add a few more lights? otherwise these look like good engines.

No backup light in the tender and no marker lights on the engine is a deal breaker for me
