People tend to forget that besides La Liga, Messi hasn't played in any other serious competitive league, and spent most of his carreer in the same club (Barcelona). French League (aka farmer's league) is a joke, MLS is even more so. Ronaldo also won the equivalent to the Champions League in the Middle East, and even that accomplishment falls short to anything in Europe. At least Ronny has won in the Premier League (which is often considered the best and most competitive in the world), in La Liga (imo 2nd best), Seria A in Italy (the most defensive league in the world and imo the 3rd best). Again, I do believe Messi to be the most talented player in the world, but let's not make it more than it actually is.

I am a big Messi fan and i think he is a goat but i think comparing great players in different eras is a difficult thing to do and i dont think that is the way to judge players. We can only compare relative to their time. Pele in the 60s, Maradona in the 80s etc. I think Pele who played in the 60s can be the goat aswell because he invented alot of the skill moves and moves that modern footballers are still doing to this day. Like the Cruyff turn, flicks, dribbling moves etc. I know i havent lived through Pelé's time but i believe from watching Pele play that he is a great player no matter which era he would have played in. Pele was 1.72 meters just two inches taller than Messi. But look at Pelé 's physical ability aswell as technical Ability. Not to mention what Maradona did at his best at both Argentina and Napoli. It is too difficult to decide imo since it is different eras. Pele in his era was the best , Maradona and Messi the same. We just have to appreciate these players imo. Just from watching Pelé play makes me appreciate past era players aswell.💯🐐⚽❤

I've heard this said several times, think it's because outfield players often try to be clever, delay their shot slightly, wait for the keeper to move, then slot it into the opposite corner like what Messi did. Where as keepers lack the same confidence so they just go for power and blast it more centrally.
