Outside of getting married or having a kid there are not many things better than opening up and running a brand new Lionel Legacy steam locomotive! I know I'm probably exaggerating a little bit! lol Anyways, sweet locomotive and Congrats! And yes that steam cylinder effect is awesome! Thanks bud!

The whistle sounds too small for this engine. It should have the same as the M1a. Other than that, great model!

The whistle should be a PRR 3 chime not a banshee just a small criticism with the sounds.

Nice engine, but I think Lionel put the wrong whistle in. That is the cc2 & h10 style whistle. Personally I think it should have s deeper whistle as the last run of these did.

Looks like the crew had better learn how to POLE-VAULT in order to get to the tender, or exit the locomotive...! The extreme GAP between the engine and tender is ridiculous...🤣

Pennsylvania used the C&O design to build 125 of their own in Altoona. It was considered one of the best they built.

I agree. I’ve also gotten reports that those who have contacted Lionel about this were incorrectly told it was prototypical. Simple mistake but still, they could at least do their research beforehand. What I don’t get is why didn’t they put the M1 whistle on this engine. Hopefully they’ll get it correct on the next run. However, the KCS version more than makes up for it. Absolutely gorgeous and has a fantastic whistle.

I have a solution to the whistle issue. Just remove the sound card. And see if you can replace it with another one. Maybe the M1 sound card. They’re easy to get. Just search for it on the Lionel parts website. Or better yet, just run it without sounds. Since the electronics for the sound system are in the tender, it should be easy to open and take out.

I just received mine I'm also very disappointed with the whistle . This is my first Lionel engine Not happy.Its all about sounds .

My suggestion is to buy a sound card for the 2011 version and swap the one in the 2019 version to get the sounds of the previous version. The crew dialogue is non-specific so it would work.

John Crowley Really? Well I’d recommend getting the 2011 version then. But I could’ve sworn they were. I remember Eric (from ericstrains) had swapped the GE Hybrid ES44 sound card with the CP one until he got the GE Hybrid repaired.
