I always thought the best part was the Huey, Cyndi and Kim verse. I’m 59 and remember this being done at the time. I think the theme was Leave Your Ego At The Door. Then the video came out and everyone was simply stunned. It was a special moment in time. The 80’s were the best.

I remember the World Premiere of We Are The World. I was 10. It was such an AMAZING time for music. I was a HUGE fan of the song. As soon as the documentary dropped on Netflix; I was watching. There were times I had a huge smile on my face and tears running down my cheeks. Lionel is an ICON!

Nelson Rogers actually said it broke madonnas heart not being invited. He told her they said it was because they didn’t think she could sing. It sounds like the truth got lost in translation. But she was so upset by it, that when the song was performed at the live aid concert, she wouldn’t sing it with them. But Nelson told her not to worry, because she has talent.

Madonna wasn't invited cause they thought her career wouldn''t last compared to Cindy Lauper & the media backlash to Madonna. Even La Toya Jackson and Sheila E. ended up in the video somehow. Quincy Jones thought Madonna was an absolute flash in the pan at the time, but admitted that her “career outlasted almost anyone’s in the room.” They were quickly proven completely wrong.

The song is amazing. Played world wide when I was in the 8th grade. Been listening to it for the past day after watching the Netflix documentary. Also discovered the remakes for Haiti. The Spanish or Portuguese (not sure) version is frigging amazing. I don't understand a word, but the sound is beautiful! Got to check it out!!!
