I didn't realize how much warthogs make up the diet of many carnivores. I thought it was primarily impala and wildebeest. I'm glad it was taken by a cat, who generally kill their prey before esting it, and not hyenas or wild dogs who just disembowel their prey and eat it alive.

Lions have incredible hearing and eyesight. They learn that termite mounds are used by their #1 enemy the hyena and also by warthogs. They, the lion and hyenas are tenacious creatures. They have to be or they’d starve. I’ll bet they can sense vibrations underground with their paws too. Since warthogs are such LOUD screaming creatures, you’d think predators would leave them alone as to not attract attention from other predators. However opportunistic hunters that they are, it’s worth it. If the hyena is smart, and several warthogs burst out of the hole that the lion dug, the hyena just needs to be patient and wait for the second or third one to run a different direction and snap it up letting the lion do all the work of digging! Incredible animals!!!!

A multitude of burrowing animals, including meerkats, badgers, aardvarks, gophers, and many more, consistently possess the intelligence levels, necessary to create underground homes, equipped, with a minimum of one additional exit, but which are, more commonly, comprised of complex tunnel networks, implementing multiple exits. With that said, and given the prevalence of which warthogs are sought after, as prey, and imprisoned amidst the confines of their burrows, as the result of predators choosing to turn their paws into shovels, it's shocking, to me, that these animals have failed to further their awareness, and make such adaptations, despite the simplistic nature of the concept, and the obvious, life-saving advantages, that employing such measures, would entail. Warthogs are scientifically regarded as being, "highly intelligent" creatures; however, I find this to be a highly doubtful, and problematic claim, and, personally, believe that quite the contrary, is far more likely to be true! A significant portion of determining the intelligence level of any, given organism, stems from the analysis, and assessment of its capacity (or lack thereof) to learn and adapt, accordingly. Therefore, based upon this premise of learning and adaptation, as it applies to the situational context of the matter, at hand, it would, certainly, seem that a clear abundance of evidence, exists, to support that warthogs are, in fact, lacking, detrimentally, when it comes to intelligence!😋🤎🐗🤍
@cs-wildcam9 күн бұрын
Very well written 👌🏻I think what counts against warthogs is the fact that they don’t have the claws with nails. They typically use entrances or burrows that are made by other fossorial creatures that are well adapted to dig like the species you’ve mentioned. They also use this as a feeding strategy as apposed to the warthog digging for food on the upper surfaces by using the top of their snouts. An animal called an aardvark typically digs these holes but close it properly with sand before the sleep. Thanks for the comment!👍😄🇿🇦
