Talked to a Hull fan and he didn’t rate him and multiple Sunderland fans I’ve talked to said he looks fat and isn’t up to championship level. I also think he don’t fit the profile of striker we should be looking for (a target man). Doesn’t fill me with hope that we’re going to spend this Esse money properly. Im actually quite concerned about our recruitment because if the rumours are true and we get £14.5m then that’s a great opportunity to really strengthen the side provided we get the recruitment right.

Sunderland fans on their forums reckon he’d do well playing either as a CAM or in the No. 10 role. Didn’t work out for him at Sunderland due to them playing a formation not best suited to him. Scored a great goal to earn Sunderland a point against us. CAM and a No. 10 are two positions Alex Neil no doubt wants so maybe that’s why he’s gone for him? Think he’s a free agent so no compo to be paid out. Still only 24. Don’t know if he’s signing till the end of the season or just with us on loan till then before a decision is made about him. Reckons he’s turned his life around after beating the booze and is buzzing to play football again. Time will no doubt tell if he’s the real deal or not.

Takes time when a new manager comes in to get his style of play across. But seeing a few signs of change. He likes wing play and uses the overlap a lot. Patience needed I think we're going to be alright
