A hyena's world is far more complex than I had ever imagined - fasinating, it's lovely to get hyena behavioural education on a personalised clan. Also its good to get a behind the scenes view as to why it is best to let them sort out their own dynamics. I get the impression Kevin thinks deeply about everything from lot of angles and makes well-reasoned decisions for what he does or doesn't do - it must be exhausting at times.

The intelligence of spotted hyenas is truly extraordinary. Through your videos, you have shown us that kinship dynamics profoundly influence an individual's tendencies to help or harm their group mates. As a result, the kinship that an individual has in a group may change over the course of his life. Fascinating ! Thank you for this very interesting and very informative video as always. Lots of scratches and tickles to the whole clan, especially Bongo and Vince.

Hey from Florida Kev! Love this channel. There was a young guy in Miami who bought a female spotted hyena online and named her Lola. He kept it in his 3rd floor apartment in a big metal cage. He let her out to run around inside. As she got bigger, she started running full speed into the walls, almost going through the drywall. He realized it was time to take her to a sanctuary and tried to put her in a smaller cage to transport her. She blasted out of it and broke his arm. He got her in it and carried her down 3 flights of stairs. With a broken arm. She's happy at the sanctuary. He visits Lola regularly and goes in her pen to give her baths.

Oh, my !!! What a lesson about wildlife he had to learn. No one should have wildlife unless one has experienced and has gone into the field to learn, such as Kevin. That takes time. Many do, and they should know better. My grandpa was American Cherokee Indian and taught me many things about wildlife and nature.

The lesson was the BROKEN ARM. Some people have to learn the hard way. There are laws about wildlife in FL. He didn't follow any of them. For exotic pets, you have to take a long class and apply for a license. They still probably wouldn't let him have a hyena. In an apartment. It was a happy ending. There are a lot of wildlife sanctuaries here. It could have been worse.

Hyena society works by bloodline. I recommend reading "𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴" by hyena project and " a king amoung queens" by esajournals

I love these videos. Always wondered their sense of smell for all the groups and if they can smell all the different clans and get jealous?

Would it cause more problems when he returns.. to take Vince out until his limp is healed? Give him a few days away to heal? Poor thing makes me wanna cry. I think he needs some quiet safe space and some love from you Kev. 🥺🥹💕💕💕😁

Great video, thank you. What a lovely clan. I think my favourite is Vince because he likes being alone.

These animals so amazing, and great education on hyenas. This is animal kingdom concerning Vincent being attacked by his siblings. Like you stated you can't just take the animal out of their environment because humans feel sorry for them. Thanks a bunch for educational teaching on there hyenas.

Thank you so much Kev, for the hyena update posting on those guys! They are loveable and yes- sometimes rambunctious- But, oh so smart! ( As long as they aren't "nibbling on your side".lol) ...or, What was that?! Chomping on an ear or tail- ( But, thankfully, not from this group...) As always, an AWESOME video!! We have Memorial Day weekend on the 29th, in the states- This will sound ignorant- I will "look it up"- Does South Africa celebrate ,this day or a similiar date? Well, that being, said...Have a safe & happy Memorial Day- or simply a wonderful weekend!! Sending love & well wishes to you, and everyone at the Sanctuary and of course those beautiful "Fur-babies"!!♥️🦁🐾
