For people commenting that the bride doesn't look happy.....this takes place at the end of the wedding, so it's at least eight hours after the celebration started. Everybody there, including the bride and groom, has been dancing all night already. The dance is part of the celebration, but it also has a religious purpose - you can hear the singer say that God will be dancing with them for this dance. There's a Jewish belief that people have a special connection to God on their wedding day - people will come to the bride and ask for her blessing or ask her to pray for them all evening. So while the couple dances, they focus on the requests they received throughout the wedding to kind of "share" the requests with God. There's plenty of joyful, exciting dances during a wedding, but this is different. If nothing else, it's the only time you will ever see a husband and wife dance together while holding hands in public.

Plus the couple may not know each other well. Most Hasidic marriages are arranged. There are a lot of emotions and anxiety involved on a wedding day. People are out of their comfort zone. Best wishes to the young couple as they embark on a life together as husband and wife. May they have a long and happy marriage together and lots of children.

Thank you for explanation- I also went back and viewed more of this wedding - I now have a better understanding of it - may have been something that wasn’t ideal for all of them but still a tradition . The rest of the videos that I have seen are amazing , and the love and happiness of this day is real ! Congratulations to you and your loved ones - and thank you for all of the input .

Why do the bride and groom not dance in a happy joyful way? But yet the men do?
@rbj20232 ай бұрын
Because it's a very somber time. It's a time of prayer and a time when the bride, groom and guests all remember their loved ones who are no longer here, and a time for them to pray for a bright future together

The bride seems embarrassed and unhappy . Why are only the men dancing ? Actually only 1 or 2 ladies smiled a little - the rest of the 15 or so ladies were solemn faced . Yet we see only men at the tables in the background . And then only men …. No women no children . Which religion is this ?

Quite honestly, they're not solumn so much as exhausted. This is probably about 3 am, after an entire evening of festivities - not even counting afternoon preps. Most of the kids are thankfully fast asleep

This is a very beautiful highly emotional and very meaningful dance, held at the very end of the wedding. It is the only time the couple dances together. You heard the poet was singing a beautiful poem, and the couple started dancing towards the end of the poem, and then he continued singing.

The women do dance, in a separate building or room. Traditionally the groom does not know his wife's face until the morning after the consummation. Big surprise!
@noam6445620 күн бұрын
@@keithhawthorne5630 Not sure where you get your info. Jewish law does not allow marriage unless the man has seen the womans face at least once before marriage. And dancing is usually in the same room with a divider down the middle.
