I have 8 of these, i knew straight away they were good, so ive brought 4 sets of 2 so 8 total Not so cheap here in the UK though, most sell em for £60 EACH, but I found a eBay seller that did them for £38 each, so I snapped em up

This is some excellent testing! I am very impressed. I am also shocked the CNHL did so poorly..... I have heard some of their LIPOs are good..... but clearly not all of them! Great work. If you don't live too far from me (changes are you do.... but who knows), I will be happy to share some LIPOs with you for testing!

Thanks Brian, I can't say the CNHL is bad, it may be that the HRB are just better for the price or reputation. Until I test more, I won't know how the CNHL compare to others.
@nick_cnc
@nick_cnc Жыл бұрын
I disagree with your conclusion. If anything the CNHL outperforms the HRB - it maintained roughly the same voltage under a heavier discharge load. If you want to compare performance you need to test both batteries at the same discharge rate and then see which has the higher voltage under the same load.
@mzgarage
@mzgarage Жыл бұрын
I would agree with your point if they were the same capacity, but they are different. The rate I used was in respect to a multiple of the capacity or c rating. It would not be fair to discharge them at the same rate.
@nick_cnc

@@mzgarage your car is not going to draw less current from a battery because it has less capacity or a lower c-rating. in our electric motors the magnetizing current is directly proportional to the torque of the motor while the RPM is a function of the voltage. that means the HRB and the CNHL would run the motor at the same RPM, but the CNHL would produce more torque, and therefore power (power = rpm * torque) due to its higher current output.

Owned both HRB doesn't touch the CNHL in actual performance. Put them in cars and let them show their true colors. HRB is way behind CNHL. Doing batterie discharge does nothing.

this wasnt the test i was looking for but its the closest thing to it, and it was cool to see anyway because i also have several arrmas and other smaller cars... i'm building my second e-moto rn. going lipo for this build. i need the energy density of lipo so i can save space and still get the big numbers my system is. 126V (30S), 700 battery amps, 1400 phase amps. trying to find a video of lipos hitting their rated discharge current for prolonged testing. I'm aiming for at least 32AH. everyone knows the majority of lipo companies lie about their C rating because theyre almost exclusively used in rc cars.. a 6600mah 120c lipo can (supposedly) do 792A continuous.. yet the most anyone will ever ask of it is what, 150A for v4 arrma 6s's, 160A on the v5 arrma spektrum firma stuff, 200A continuous on the xmaxx esc with 320A bursts.. so if the lipos will never see their rated current but the companies can sell more batteries by saying theyre a higher current than they then i think they view it as a win win. They make more money and we think were getting a superior product that we wont max out anyway so we wont overheat or cause a lipo fire.. the lipo industry is very shady with stuff like that. RC lipos are the only sub set of the battery world that does this.. 18650's, 21700's, pouch liiions, pouch lipos, anything else in the diy world, they not only meet what they say they can do but they almost always exceed what they say they can do.. 5000mah 21700's doing 5500mah, 17A panasonic ncr21700's doing closer to 22A.. etc.. it is ONLY rc companies that intentionally mislead people. occasionally some chinese sellers will exaggerate about the specs of the cells theyre selling but its a huge no-no in the diy world. yet people just take it in the rc world. i hate that shit. Ive grown to trust my batteries from everywhere that i buy from but i ALWAYS do a full capacity, voltage, and IR test on all my lipos. the most dangerous chemistry is the one that lies about its capabilities. shit is ridiculous. but anyway, that book i just wrote aside, dope vid. im glad i stumbled on it. im subbin to support a good creator.

Holy shit, 30S! I have never heard of anything running that high, well except anything you plug into your wall. That sounds awesome though. Yea, the C ratings are outrageous now days and most of the lipos would probably start on fire if you put that load on them. It seems like most EVs are using the 21700s now. Share some links the build, I would love to see it. Thanks for the sub!

@@mzgarage thanks man. Yeah 30s is huge power. So is a (real) 700 battery amps. Lol. My current bike is 20S. That's already on my channel. It has changed extremely drastically since the day one build but you can get the gist of what I'm working with in that video. I plan on making a video on the new build too eventually. It's gonna be insane!!!

cnhl has a 4s 6000 120c hv weight around 450g, and 4s 5000 65c with 540g Why, bigger capacity with less weight??? also higher c rate, is that make up? Thank u

@@mzgarage I would also look at SMC, and LiperiAir - they both are VERY strong performers in my testing (the 80C 3s LiperiAir actually outperformed the 100C version in my speed runs but they were both strong). If you want a low performance LIPO to test against them, Ovonic, Tindling, Hoovo, Hilldo, and the Liperior Endurance line have not performed well in my testing.

I don't really understand how you are saying it out performs. Yes, the IR is lower and voltage difference per cell is lower for the HB, but thats at a very low discharge rate. When I go to a drag strip, is a stock Corolla engine going to out perform a built V8 with turbos and alcohol? Sure, it will last longer and never blow up, but it wont get to the finish line first. Hit both batteries with a 150A continuous load and give me that data. Also, isnt it typical for new lipos to reduce IR over the first few cycles?
@mzgarage
@mzgarage Жыл бұрын
I completed understand what you are saying. No, this test is no where near the real amp draw seen in use, but in my experience testing batters on EDF fans with 100+ amps draws, the batteries wit lower IR that performed better and lower draws were the same ones performing better at higher amp draws. I am thinking about building testing rig with one of my old EDFs to make some videos with.

Meh. I want to see how these batteries actually perform in a vehicle. My experience has been that the more expensive batteries from SMC and Gens ace have outperformed the cheaper batteries like zee and HRB that I've had. The more expensive batteries have lasted longer with all my abuse too. That's what I have noticed.

Please shoot me an email (in the about section of my email). I have a spreadsheet I think you will like where I tested 13 different 3s LIPOs against each other and I have been harping on the same things you have and have the same findings between various LIPOs. I haven't finished the video yet (it is a big undertaking).... but I can share it with you (I also have a test on my channel where I compared 9 different 3s LIPOs).

Meh this test show nothing, and charger is not a tool to check real battery performance, next guy without basic knowledge
@mzgarage
@mzgarage Жыл бұрын
I would disagree with that. I understand that these are not real-world current draws, but in my experience, the performance is scalable. If a battery outperformed another at a 2c, 3c, 4c, and 5c current draw, then at a 50c current draw the same battery will perform better. If you have any information that indicates that is not the case, I would love to read it. I am always trying to learn more. And it did take a little basic knowledge to build that charging station lol
