My breakdown came 1 month before the July bar. I had just self-graded an essay on federal civil procedure and forgot to mention long arm jurisdiction. It was the first time that I wanted to throw something at my wall. Instead I beat a pillow into my bed and then collapsed onto the couch and cried. I held my cat until I calmed down, then went back to studying. I also passed!

You’ll do fine! I just passed the February exam earlier this year & I literally didn’t feel like I knew anything until the day before 😂 with moving, weddings & a bar exam during a pandemic, kudos to you for still having hair on your head! Just breathe and remember you don’t need to know everything, just enough not to fail which is basically a D+ 🙄 YOU WILL PASS!!!!

I'm taking the October online bar as well in Texas. I have been FREAKING OUT this week because I feel like I don't know anything and I'm definitely going to fail and don't know what to expect in actuality like what kind of questions we'll end up getting. It has given me A LOT of peace to hear you're struggling too because I was beating myself up for even taking the time to break down when I assumed everyone else is preparing fine. A cheaper option for your wedding cake would be you could do a couple's cake for cutting, pictures, etc. and then get a regular sheet cake for guests! The price of tiered cakes is borderline robbery haha

I feel so screwed lately. I’ve been unemployed since March due to covid. I’m a single mom and my daughter is high needs. Daycare doesn’t work for her. School is 100% remote where we are, and they likely aren’t going in at all. Unemployment doesn’t cover my bills, my savings is nearly depleted, and I can’t really work from home (and what would I do!) because of my daughters needs. This is just bad. And it feels like every day it gets worse. I want to try to get into law school but get no time to study. I’ve also been having health issues that I still have no answers to. I don’t know what the answer is, but being a boss girl is in my future. I feel you. But we’ve got this!!

I totally feel you about the bar exam breakdown...I was so surprised at the burn out from studying for this long (also started in June). This past week I literally struggled to get out of bed, and I barely did any work, which only makes me more anxious. I’m also doing Barbri, and I guess we just have to hope that they know what they’re doing with teaching us!

I had a 5 tiered 3 flavor cake that was $1400, but my mom won it in a raffle so it was a totally free. If we hadn't won the cake we were going to get a 2 tiered cake for $430 and supplement with sheet cake. The groom's cake was 3 tiered vanilla that was $320.

Sending you good vibes ❤️ I think it’s normal to allow yourself some time to freak out just a bit. Then when you’re done with your sesh, that’s when you gather yourself and focus on what needs to get done a little at a time so you don’t overwhelm yourself. You’re going to do great, you know your shit and you will be swearing in before you know it! For my wedding cake we had a “fake” cake with the very top being actual cake so we could cut it for our pictures and then had sheet cakes for our guests. My friends mom offered to make it for us otherwise we would’ve spent around $600-$800 for 300 guests. Don’t over spend is my advice, your guests won’t know its sheet cake. Save that money for your honeymoon!

I understand you completely on not wanting to spend a lot of money on lamps. My husband and I had black 'bean pot' type lamps in our bedroom that we got at Linens and Things or Ikea for many years. About 10 years ago, we splurged, because like you, my desk is in the bedroom and when I went back to college, splurged on a Tiffany-style desk lamp that was $200. Then we got two coordinating tiffany style lamps for our night stands. We just ordered living room furniture and our current lamps don't match it at all (hurray, I *hate* these lamps). The nice thing about the bedroom lamps we had were that they were glazed ceramic and easy to dust. Just wanted to say get some inexpensive ones now, but eventually, you'll probably want some nicer lamps.

I have full faith you’ll pass and I’m putting that energy out there for you! But for some potential comfort about failing- my uncle failed the bar his first time and so did my brother’s best friend. My uncle still ended up being extremely successful and it didn’t hold him back! And my brother’s friend is fully employed at a well respected firm in Manhattan. Stumbling once doesn’t mean you’re going to fail forever. You will be a wonderful lawyer!
