I had replaced the battery a couple moths ago and then the bass rattle started. I think I cracked one of the screw mounts in the battery cover during the battery change-out. Didn't know what the problem was. This video gave me just what I needed. The silicon fixed the problem. Thanks for the quick fix. Keep up the good work!

This was a great help, I replaced the batteries in two of my Charge 3's and noticed the bass rattle more so afterwards. I applied the sealant to the battery area and that fixed one of them but the other I discovered was leaking air around the bass end cap. When you change the battery you have to pop off one of the end caps which is not super easy. For me I had to pry it off which left some minor damage to the end cap (hidden by the cover). So after reassembling it was not air tight at the end cap. I applied the sealant to the end cap and tested for leaks, found a few still and once completely sealed the speaker works perfect. Hope this helps.

My cover went off completly, the battery expanded so much that it broke all the screw inserts… So now I just fixed the problem with some hot glue that I used to seal the holes, idk if I’m gonna even put the back cover back, works just fine without it, just waiting for the new battery to arrive and gonna put it back together, very helpful video, thanks!

Please don’t break your speaker grills! The charge 3 was made in 2 different factories, and the grills on some of them come off in a completely different way. On some, you need to push the pry tool straight down into the seam, and if you do it right the grill will just slide off, no screws. Don’t try to pry up on the back section like this, because you’ll break the tab that holds the grill on! If your serial number starts with the letters TL, the way that I described is the correct way to disassemble. If your serial number starts with the letters GG, yours is like the one in the video. Don’t ask me how I know!!

Why not use drops of super glue to repair the cracks around the screw holes, too inflexible? Can’t really find small tubes of sanitary silicone but believe Shoe Goo May even prove to be superior in strength and flexibility.

12:46sec..... if it was w/o the broken cover, why still "cracking sound"???
@djijspeakerguy4628
@djijspeakerguy4628 5 ай бұрын
You hear that noise precisely because the cover isn’t there. The problem isn’t the broken cover vibrating, the problem is that since the cover was broken, the speaker is not air tight. The noise you hear is air pressure (from the speaker cones moving in and out to produce bass) leaking out of the hole where the battery wires go into the speaker to the motherboard. With a broken cover, some of that air gets out and causes a buzzing noise. Notice the cover has a rubber seal, this is to make the speaker air tight and water proof.

In my situation the air leak is from the net like thing between two speakers what is that net called?
@djijspeakerguy4628
@djijspeakerguy4628 5 ай бұрын
That’s supposed to be a sort of pressure relief so the speaker cones/radiators don’t push out due to air pressure in hot weather. It’s designed to be completely water tight, but not air tight, but it should be air tight enough that it doesn’t cause a buzzing sound. That part is probably just a bit loose. I think it could just glue back on possibly?

Do you know that when I turn it on it makes a buzzzzz on the speakers. They changed the battery, the same one and it started working 10 points, but a week later it started making that horrible wasp sound again and at certain frequencies the same thing. I looked and looked and tried but nothing to make it sound good. But surprise, I loved it again one of the 10 times I did it and it started to work much better again, very rare!!! I calculate that it has to be without air, super well isolated from the interior. Maybe if I make some gaskets out of some material like rubber or leather, I can achieve this isolation again and it won't fail anymore. As close to the original material as possible. If that's the case, I'll let you know and leave the message here. Greetings!!!! I don't think I've found the solution, anyone has it, but I imagine the thing has to be super closed so it doesn't vibrate and works well.

2:12 "it has been fixed in the charge 4" me trying to find a video for this problem for my charge 4: "You sure about that?" No seriously though, you talking about the battery, makes alot of sense for my jbl, the charging, its absolutely sh!t (it takes atleast 2 days for one stripe thingy), and the popping-ish sound when kicks/bass hits... so idk if its fixed on the chrage 4... only had mine for ~2-3 years... UPDATE: I dont have any air leaking, or atleast not audible
@Darieee

well - it's fixed in the sense that the battery can no longer TOTALLY destroy the enclosure it'll still gladly die 😂 - but - given it's now a bunch of 18650s, a trip at your local vape shop will quickly get you all the needed parts to fix it ... or ebay if you want a fully wired-up kit ...
