Just done this on my 2001 V70 D5 project car,like you say a bit fiddly getting the hoses connected but went ok. It didn't look like it was doing much but at the end it had discoloured the paper in the inline filter on the return hose. I haven't had a chance to drive the car yet as it has taken a year to sort all the bodges from the previous owner! Cheers for making these videos.

Thank you Siroob. I did this purge today with your video successfully. Unfortunately my fuel pump fuse was not on the driver side fuse box. But instead it was on the bonnet fuse box. Even though when I removed the fuel pump fuse the engine was still running. So, what I did was connected the return line to the feed line, so the pumped fuel went back to the tank again -when the engine was started and running. Thanks again.

I've done Diesel purge on my car using your method and I got even more surprised in a good way I think. There was no filth what so ever on my car! Nothing but super clean remains of liqui moly. How is it possible? My car has done 125k mliles.

This doesn't work on the Euro5 engines as they require the fuel to be supplied at pressure from the tank (as you say in the description) So I drained the last of the fuel tank, when I had the fuel filter out for a change and put 100% diesel purge in the tank. I had quite a misfire before, it runs like a new engine on 100% diesel purge. I am just hoping that this continues when I put some more regular diesel in. I will probably treat it to some of the fancy stuff on my next fill

Tried to do this on an opel corsa 1.3l diesel but it would not work. I believe that the fuel needs to be pumped into the injectors using an external pump running at 4 bar. Ended up having to empty the diesel fuel filter and then refill using the diesel purge and then run the engine. Not as good but did the job in the end.

Cheers from across the pond.What if the HPIP is mechanical? Mine is chain driven by the timing chain (mercedes om648). I think LM makes a similar product by the same name that goes directly into the fuel, at least it says" add to fuel"on the can. Perhaps that might be my answer. I also watched a video where you fill your new fuel filter with the product and run it. That was a video done by liquimoly as an optional method to the one you demonstrate. Hi Sirobb In the video you say about not letting air going in the fuel pump when you reconnect the fuel line, but what happens when you connect the fuel pipe to the new fuel pipe which then goes to the jar of diesel purge, as that pipe and filter is full of air? Thank you.
@sirobb9 жыл бұрын
Yes, there's obviously going to be moments that air is present when changing fuel connections. Air can also be drawn in when changing the fuel filter during a service or if you run out of fuel on the road. However, you don't want bad connections to allow a steady stream of small air bubbles running through the pump for an extended time. The odd second here and there isn't a problem. Make sure you prime the Diesel Purge feed hose and filter as much as you can before starting the engine to minimise the air present.

@markokosir54073 жыл бұрын
I have a question. Could this be done when you are changing your fuel filter. You take the old one out pour old diesel out of it, then pour liqui moly diesel purge into the old filter as you would with a normal fuel filter change, to ensure that is starts immediately after the change of filter. But with this method you are still using the old filter in case you wold top it up a few times so you get around 500 ml to 1liter into the system, since I don't know how much liquid goes into one fuel filter. Then you just take your new fuel filter and pour diesel purge in it and finish the job. If more than 500 ml actually goes into the fuel filter you could just do the last step and throw away the old filter immediately and just install the new filter with diesel purge in it.
@oliverbendt31043 жыл бұрын
You could do that but it's not going to catch any of the dirt from the rails or injectors that the moly has moved as it would just circle around and end up back in there again. You would need to put a temporary filter onto the return pipe to catch the crap as it comes back out

@sirobb9 жыл бұрын
Thanks. 👍 You need 12 or 13 mm I.D. clips (sorry I forget) to secure the lines afterwards. I used 8mm straight connectors and didn't feel the need for additional security of the join due to the quality of the hose. It gave a really snug seal but if you use thinner hose or poly piping (not recommended) you may be better to clip the join.

Hey! I know its been 3 years, but I faced a similar situation with my 2012 Hilux Invincible - I added an injector cleaner of a company whose name I dont remember. The next day my cars cold and warm starts had increased a lot. But then I added Liqui Moly's Super Diesel Additive & Diesel Common Rail Additive at the same time in a half tank of diesel and changed the diesel filter. Now the car starts up instantly.

hey buddy, can you comment on whether this is OK on a Volvo C30 D3 2.0 2011 registration? Was considering just adding to the fuel tank when its low of diesel.... any help appreciated and thanks for the video!!
@sirobb8 жыл бұрын
Stephen Pemberton You wouldn't really get any benefit pouring this in the tank so would need to do it in a similar way to this video. You would need to prime the hose coming out of the jar of Purge so the hose is full then attach it to the engine's fuel filter feed. You would also need to pull the return hose coming from the injectors and attach it to a hose going back into the jar of Purge. Reconnect everything when you're done.
@robertsimpson71138 жыл бұрын
Why not run a filter on the return line also to help to keep contamination from your supply container (glass jar)??

@sirobb8 жыл бұрын
Robert Simpson I'm just following your logic on additional filtration. I've never seen anyone use more than one filter so it seems that I and the rest of the world are happy with one filter but you are not. Perhaps you could make a video explaining your theory and show us why we're mistaken.

Dear Sirobb, you mentioned the D5 185 (which I happen to have) in your description. Do you think it is worth a go on that or is it likely to harm it or be a total waste of time and resources? If so, do you know an alternative for that model?
@sirobb9 жыл бұрын
You can try but ultimately, if it's not going to start, there's no point straining the battery and starter for no benefit. You can buy 5 litre tubs like mine for about £40 so you could run your fuel down to minimum and pour the 5 litres in the tank. If you do this, you would be better to have a new fuel filter fitted afterwards as the Purge will disturb sediment in your tank and could block your old filter.
@mmuhiuddin9 жыл бұрын
+sirobb Thanks for your reply. What if I run down the tank to almost empty, then use a vacuum pump to remove whatever remaining Diesel I can from the tank, and then put the diesel purge into the tank, how does that sound? what else would I have to do at the front end to catch the used purge, etc?
@sirobb9 жыл бұрын
+mmuhiuddin Rather than messing with vacuum pumps, you could just disconnect the tank to fuel filter hose and turn on the ignition. The in tank pump will then pump the diesel out for you into a clean container to re-use after you've done the Purge. You don't have to catch the returned Purge fluid as it's automatically returned to the main fuel tank for recycling through the system over and over until it's all used up.
@mmuhiuddin9 жыл бұрын
+sirobb Okay, that sounds good. I was just thinking that pumping it out will help avoid running the last bits of fuel, which I have heard is not healthy for the car, through the car's pump, but rather take it straight out of the tank. I'm not sure id this will have any relevance to the sediment you mentioned in your first reply though. In any case, what's the minimum amount of purge you recommend I put into the tank after emptying it, and how do avoid any risk of it running dry? Also, after the whole procedure, I should pump out any remaining purge in the tank and put some diesel in, let it run for a couple of minutes and then change the fuel filter? Thanks again!
@sirobb9 жыл бұрын
+mmuhiuddin Doing it this way, I would imagine you'll need at least 5 litres of Purge and how you deal with it afterwards is your choice so I won't recommend a particular procedure but leaving whatever Purge is left in there and filling the tank with regular diesel shouldn't be a problem. Have one maybe two new fuel filters available too. I have never done a Purge from further back than the engine bay though so you will know as much as me. As I've mentioned, there are potential issues with using Diesel Purge in the tank so everything you choose to do is at your own risk.

Hi Simon, I'm going to do this. Two questions if I may. The little white hose to hose connectors, are they easily available? What sort of size/specs are they? The dirty Diesel purge at the end. Is it really advisable to put it back in the tank if that dirty in your opinion? Thanks mate
@sirobb8 жыл бұрын
Matt B As mentioned in the first part, my hoses are 8mm internal diameter but you need to check your own car if it's a different model. 8mm is most common but 6 and 10mm are used also. Thr hose connectors are available off the shelf in Halfords or from whoever you buy the hose from. The state of the purge liquid at the end can vary dramatically but if you filter it, there's no reason why it can't go in the tank.
@Matty72UK8 жыл бұрын
SiRobb Thanks. I've ordered the connectors. I have a S60 d5 2002 with a dodgy Dim! Just being thick for a minute. Does one take the fuel pump fuse out just once at the beginning and put back in at the end? Or is it just for initial depressurisstion and put back in when running the Diesel purge? Otherwise how is it pumped into the rail? Maybe I missed that bit! Also, I didn't quite see, is the return feed immersed in the diesels purge in the jar or, because of partial pressures of liquid into liquid, out of the DP and allowing gravity to let it flow out into the air and collect in the jar. Thanks. M
@sirobb8 жыл бұрын
Matt B You disconnect the in tank fuel pump fuse for the duration of the purge. Whether you suspend the return or immerse it is up to you. So long as there is a constant flow, it doesn't matter.
