8:16 this is actually ridiculous from Wizzy. He empty jumps to try and get Hbox to press shield early, that way when he does the stomp, Hbox is locked out of teching. He gets 47% from this rest punish, whereas every rest punish before was either one stomp into nothing else or he'd get a small grab combo

Wizzrobe might not have another major because those Sheik and Falco matchups can be brutal and get hard to avoid in top 8 but he's an unbelievable player, Idk many people playing his style or anyone even close to being this precise and rigorous. he's so cool

No lol. Mang0 was literally only a professional Melee player for like 2 weeks and those 2 weeks perfectly aligned with when Zain was stuck in Europe with an ear infection. Mang0 had a shitty fairweather "I play when I wanna" ass year. Hbox is to be appreciated and thanked. Hbox shows up every time whether he's dead tired or not, practised or not, feeling well or not. Mang0 and him are both very rich and don't need to play. But comparing Mang0, who literally hasn't been great since 2016 outside of random flairup tournaments once a year, to Hbox is just ignorant imo.

Like I said. Mang0 won 2 tournaments on back to back weekends while Zain was stuck in Europe. Idk if Hbox won any smaller tournies, but definitely not a major. He might've won Riptide or something over Panda. How did they place on average? How was their event to event placement percentage?

I do like hbox mixing up the DI on downthrow knee, shoutout to Vish for calling it out before that big rest moment. He was def just drifting in at some points but I do think it was working out for him and mixing up his di is something he hasn’t been great at historically so good to see

Maybe my favorite moment of the set is wizzy letting his shield just whittle down at 4:30. It shows insane understanding of the matchup and hbox physically reacts to how hard he's getting outplayed in the interaction.

Wizzy's rest punishes are really interesting here. He alternates between grab and stomp. Why? At low percents, the best defense to stomp is to hold down. Holding down does very poorly against down throw. So it's a DI mix up. Notice the empty movement too. In the last game, he empty short hops, THEN goes for short hop stomp. Why? Hbox probably got locked out of tech on the first empty short hop reading a stomp attempt.

Exactly. Low percent knee on DI in is actually very awkward but down DI lets you dash sh knee which is extremely easy and can combo to double knee
