Beautiful tile in your home was a great find, classic, timeless. There is a hidden tile outlet near where I live, it's located behind the expensive tile store, the outlet is where the expensive store sells their discontinued, closeouts etc. it will be the first place we look for our bathroom tile! Someone threw away a brand new porcelain bathroom wall sink & beautiful faucet to the curb, we grabbed it. Great size, color, style, 100% free!

I like all your videos, especially the ones that display your artistic side. I want to help you with two ideas for window coverings. Both windows are in bump out, the window in my kitchen is 20 inches deep with a 4 foot wide stainless steel sink in it, and the other in my living room has a 10 inch wide sill wide enough for flower pots. Both windows were custom designed and built by me so off the rack window coverings would not work. For the kitchen window I bought matchstick blinds a bit wider and longer than I needed and then cut them for the correct width and height (so they would fit a fixed window overtop the back of the sink) I spray painted the blinds white and attached a thin cotton fabric with a gray abstract floral print to the inside of the blinds. The fabric adds complete privacy from the street during evenings , yet is thin enough to roll up into the blinds during the day. The blinds came with bamboo rods at the top and bottom. The blinds are attached to the side walls of the window opening. For the living room window I made a curtain from two rectangle fabric pieces sewed togehter, a mesh curtain fabric and a white cotton eyelet for the lining. I sewed a pocket channel of about and inch wide into each edge of the curtain. The curtain is on a small wood dowel rod and the ends of thre rod are sewed into the curtain at the top corners. I inserted two more dowels onto the two pocket channels that I sewed on each side of the curtain. The ends of these dowels stick out at the corners of the curtain and their rounded ends are placed into small rounded holes carved into the wooden window frame. The curtain functions like a roman blind but is held in place by tension between the two side dowels. It can be slid up or down on the two side dowels and can be placed bunched at either the top of the window or the bottom of the window or can be spread out to cover the window from top to bottom. I attached strings, butcher cord, at the top of the window frame on each side that run down the back of the curtain so that when I pull up the curtain I can use the strings to tighten the bunched up curtain against the top of the window. So far I have not had to tie the strings to anything to help keep the curtain up because the bunching of the curtain and the tension of the dowels keeps it up and in place but if it loosens that would be the way to ensure both sides stay up equally.

Here in Minneapolis, we have a fabric liquidation center called S.R. Harris. It's an airport hangar chock full of bolts of heavily discounted fabric of all kinds. You sometimes have to dig around to find what you need, but the hunt is part of the process. They also opened a smaller location in an old storefront, which has an edited inventory that is nicely displayed. Sewing notions like trims, ribbon, thread, etc are also heavily discounted.

I’d say you’re looking for a top down/bottom up Roman shade for your window covering. There are kits if you feel like DIY (channel content). If you go for readymade know your window sizes as getting the right size is key. Old houses are notorious for having windows that look the same size but actually aren’t.

You might consider Roman blinds for your windows. They are easy to make yourself, and there are KZbin tutorials to help out, even "no sew" variations. They can be interlined if you need a "black out" situation. Best of all, you can make them out of any fabric pattern of your choosing, and because you only need enough fabric to fit the window opening, it can be pretty cost effective.

My favorite bargain outlets and thrift shops have closed over the years but there are always more to explore. One time someone gifted me a vintage lamp missing four of six small globes. Andrew you’re so creative, I’m sure you could sew some simple Roman shades with maybe a small hook system for height adjustment? Wooden slats with some linen fabric could look cool and might look similar to the Japanese ones. I’ve made some before and they aren’t terribly difficult. I imagine some small sets of hooks that would allow height adjustment and really simple if you raised from the bottoms. The full height could stop short of the window where ever you wanted that open space. When the shade was down it would have soft folds at the bottom of the window. Or they could be removed and stored under a bed when not in use. Does any of that make sense? I just know that blinds come with a hefty price tag!

Luv me some TDBU (Top-Down, Bottom Up) light-filtering cellular shades/blinds. They offer just enough filtration and great privacy as well. With older tall windows, the added bonus would be the top down feature allowing for more light yet lower privacy just in case you wanna scoot around the house in your Calvin's! (or less) hahaha Cheers Andrew. PS, I'm always on the hunt for mark-down bed linens.

@@REISSUED Well, another option would be to permanently mount the top of the blind about a foot or so down from the top of the window frame or at the same position where the 2 sashes meet. That would create a sort of clerestory effect. Good luck with your solution.🌄

We have weatherboard villa’s here in New Zealand. Similar windows too. ‘Window treatment’ - Go on to an online blind company. You measure each window yourself as per the direction they give online. You can ask for samples. We just bought 3 blinds for sunshine block out for our lounge and no curtains because we put a ‘film’ on the glass so people can’t see inside, but for a bedroom I would also have a blind on top to (ie two blinds hanging from inside the window frame) - a blackout blind and a sun blind. Or a blackout blind (doesn’t have to be black!) and thinner cotton curtains. Yes. You can get angled curtain rods, but you could put wire up instead and thread this through the pocket where a pole would normally go. Anyway - that’s my 2 cents. You will work out what’s best for your style - you always do! Happy creating! ❤️

Look into window privacy film. It's inexpensive and there are different patterns which filter light and can also obscure the view. It's removable too. It might end up being more than a short term solution and become something that will work with what you choose down the road.
