Thank you, Liron! I'll paint this today. What I love is that you share the vulnerable, that you are always learning like we are. And from that, we get your gems...trials and thoughts of how to make the painting better. And better yet, by being brave and painting and practicing and having that spark of curiosity, we just keep getting better and better. So the process is so much more important than the final painting.Thinking so much about you, Ruth and your family. Keeping you in my prayers, daily❤🙏

Hi Liron, thank you for your honesty and challenging the status quo of “process”. There is a room for processes, no doubt, but as you said it does not make up for the sheer acquisition of skills and knowledge, Good on you…. And thanks again for sharing your insight, passion for Watercolor and your tutorials, always a great inspiration. I may have a go at Dahlias, despite the challange 😊

Your videos are always useful, thanks for posting them. So many YT artists proclaim that tried and true techniques and principles are unimportant in art and encourage people to just follow their impulses and "trust the process" instead of working at developing skills. BTW, I recently discovered how valuable Naples yellow is, and it seems the perfect yellow to use for these dahlias. Stay safe!

Very nice Liron dahlias are beautiful and some can be the size of a plate. I used to raise “dish plate dahlias” and they were easy to care for and many colors. I enjoyed your painting, we keep at it.😊

Thank you Liron. This is the one you were talking about that you recorded in the 'before' time from a few days ago? Glad you got to upload it and so good to hear your voice! Is 2.53am here so looking forward to painting with you once the sun is up. Ha... my 'system' for painting at the moment is to find my starting point and go from there. Not very scientific ... Now I've heard your voice I think I shall be able to sleep. Shall be able to take more on board in the morning.. good.

Your experience is what makes you create masterpieces. Sometimes the process helps me see what doesn’t work. Then I glaze or add with opaque gouache to correct it. Your piece looks amazing and just goes to show how you can play with (and break) the rules and get great results. Isn’t their an artist named Banksy who challenged the art world and what is art. He did graffiti art. You said something important, “if you like it.” I’ve been exploring mixed media and abstracts. I really like it. It’s fun. If I trusted the process it would be a hot mess. Maybe it is a hot mess. You’ll have to check my channel out and see. Lol. But overall I like it. I’m so grateful you posted today. I’ve been rewatching some of your older videos. And finding some I missed. You have a great way of explaining things. I know you are in trying times and I continue to pray that God protects you. I pray for peace. The one thing I can trust is in Jesus. I feel His love surrounding me everyday. I let Him guide me and that’s in all aspects of my life. Even my paintings. 🥰I hope you find that peace as well. ❤🙏🏻

I like your use of gouache in the finishing touches. I am studying techniques from the earlier days of watercolor before body color was frowned upon. It's instructive to see that in action. I usually hear "trust the process" in the context of getting through the middle stage of patchy washes and indistinct shapes, knowing that you will be making corrections and adjustments in later stages. Like a lot of catchy phrases, it loses its meaning with overuse.

I think I hear you saying that if you want to grow, you shouldn’t be formulaic, which doesn’t give you the freedom to follow and respond to what your paint is doing. I notice you started with the darks. Blasphemy!!
@LironYan
@LironYan Жыл бұрын
Or, be formulaic with your own formulas (: It's all about experimenting and finding your own voice and way. And indeed haha - I often enjoy starting with the darks, in a most blasphamous manner 😛
