If this movie had come out when I was in high school, it would have become my entire personality, because I was absolutely a silent movie weird girl. I made sure to see this one in the theater. The only thing that keeps me from having a picture of the creature on my wall covered in pink hearts and lipstick kisses is the fact that I was subjected to too much "Suite Life" while babysitting, so he is a kid and I am old. I love this movie so much! The CAMP makes the emotions feel more true to me. Subtlety is for sane people.

The other suite life twin is in a series of (objectively terrible) novel based rom-com movies, and his character is supposed to be super hot. I just simply CANNOT.

Have you thought about doing a study on those strange animated sci-fi movies from our youth? I'd love to hear your meta analysis on Titan AE v Atlantis v Treasure Planet or similar

I loved Lisa Frankenstein and your analysis of it is so good! I could also see it as Lisa leaning more into the harmful traits of the creature rather than her entirely becoming Victor. Because the Creature went on a vengeance spree to hurt Victor and get back at the living world that hurt him. I think Lisa Frankenstein is a wonderful representation of the Creature’s entire tale, full of vengeance and burning bridges. But I do really love your analysis!! Also I’d love to see a video about Bring it On!!

Love this review. My fave angle of Lisa Frankenstein is the queer read... that whole having a... man how do i say this without youtube nuking my comment. The scene with the massager where she ignores what she just did with the Creature in order to talk about her conventional man crush as if what she just did didnt count? Extremely relatable. Back when i thought i was a woman, i def was on either side of that in relationships with women a couple times. The whole "oh this one isnt Real" vibe And then of course. When they gain what the Creature feels he is lacking, that is. 100% him getting his reassignment surgery. She even sews it on with rainbow thread. Incredible.

I loved Taffy’s character…great foil for Lisa especially considering the tone of the film.

La’Ron I’m too bisexual to avoid any of your brand of sass. You could deep dive the SpongeBob scene where Patrick asks if mayonnaise is an instrument and I’d watch it.

Yes! I need the Bring it On video the way I needed your Debbie video. Ever since another creator did a video about Torrance actually being the model for white folks to be a good ally to Black people I've wanted another deep dive of the dynamics in the film. So much deeper than it was thought to be. Same for Drop Dead Gorgeous. Seems like I finally need to dust off the digital copy of Lisa Frankenstein & watch it. I shouldn't be surprised because as a middle age goth I'm Diablo Cody's target demographic.

I saw this movie with my uncle on his recommendation. I thought it was delightfully gruesome. The initial rot-crusted zombie stage of the Creature was such a cool work of practical effects and the movie doesn't let you forget about that work by making callbacks to it with the various bugs and goo that ocassionally discharge from the Creature (and making great use of it too, especially with the cottage cheese -- or was it yogurt? -- scene, you know the one). The tension from Lisa's sociopathy and the rising body count does not get downplayed, and I appreciate that. And I was completely enamored with the black-and-white dream sequence (more of THAT please, Ms. Williams!) Overall, a solid 7/10. Definitely one of my favorites for the year.

Thank you, Laron! Here is my fan-theory: Lisa's dad killed her mom. He he always 100% ambivalent to the situations around him, from his wife going missing, to his daughter and house getting burned up. He got remarried very soon after his wife's death, to a woman with a beautiful teen daughter. Taffy says something to Lisa once about how her step dad fusses over her, something which Lisa clearly hasn't experienced based on the fleeting look on her face. The end of the movie shows him with Taffy (now conveniently traumatized and isolated) saying a casual farewell to his deceased daughter and murderer of his spouse. And he and Taffy ride off into the sunset. He couldn't have done it better himself. Apple didnt fall too far from the tree, i reckon.

15:09 I feel like I've missed some Readus lore here. What about hating Venom? Like the boyfriends soon to be husbands or just the comic pre 2018 idea of venom. Doesn't matter I'll go binge your content to find out.

I haven't seen Lisa Frankenstein but I watched a DeadMeat podcast on it. A grain of salt until I watch it but I think the transition of Lisa's death to immortality is pretty interesting. Its the memory of Lisa similar to the creatures' gravestone that allows for this life during death.

Theres a movie not meny people talk about and thats 2005 Australin western The Proposition. It's a hard watch and has tough subject matter but it's one of my favourite movies. On the other side of the coin Bring It On which is also one of my favourite movies, I miss the 90s/00s teen movie and Bring It On had a lot to say.

I really liked this movie; it all started with when the movie takes pass. It being 89-1990. You felt the 80s nostalgia but also was ready for progress. I wasn’t expecting to like it that much. From costumes, the body horror elements, Burton inspired but the director was able to put their own style.
