Ignorance of science and the ecosystems of nature, for example ignorance of the importance of atmospheric balance, can be a serious evil to sustaining human life on Earth. It's not that it's confusing, but that they keep coming up with new invisible things to explain the existence of their first invisible things. I'm not sure, but at some point it seems like 'dark matter' (and the 'dark' versions of items that interact with it... now dark photons) is going to become too much like religion. How about we just admit we don't know the math and/or physics to explain how galaxies work with the view-able matter, and - for at least a while - assume it could be explained by visible matter, but that we aren't applying the correct angles on it?

Mambo Dave, this seems familiar to what Thomas Kuhn called paradigm shifts. Many anomalies building up revealing our lack of conceptual understanding of gravity. Also, some physicists are currently working on "Modified Gravity" theories that adjust our understanding of gravity to fit the observable universe without dark matter. Often called "MOND."

I don't want to quibble, but the sudbury impact happened about 1.85 billion years ago. There was a later impact just northeast of the sudbury basin which created Wanapitei Lake about 37 million years ago.
