Jesus hardest rider out here spitting facts. Lisa the pointless is a game that’s only fun on the second play through, and that’s stupid. It’s one of my favorite games of all time, sure, but only because I knew what to do in the second playthrough. it’s stupid. Also forcing a limited amount of save crows is making fake difficulty by limiting how much you can save

Limiting saves is good design because it actually creates tension and consequences in a game series that prides itself in those ideas. Lisa the painful, as much as I love it, is deeply flawed in its permadeath systems not only in the application of permadeath (joy mutant randomness) but in the obvious mitigation of it (save scumming). Pointless fixes this problem by making it pretty explicit what enemies will inflict you with important status effects while limiting your saves. I’m not saying it’s perfect, you can’t play this game for a short amount of time while making progress (which might be an advantage according to some), but just claiming it creates “fake difficulty” is a bit disrespectful to a system which I believe is pretty clever.

@@sillystinkyyes8093 very good point. although, it's really hard to get to a point where you can save if you need to go somewhere, yknow? at least have like one or two permanent save crows in a "hub area" of sorts, like the first little building in downtown olathe, or the trader's building on garbage island. plus, painful's option for crows being single use was optional. it isn't, here.

@@sillystinkyyes8093 I disagree it just makes it annoying especially in an rpg where rng is king the only tension you get is having to play the game again especially when unlike say hopeful which is atleast linear and you run fast, this game is huge and you run a lot slower

I can appreciate that you at least put effort into making this instead of just being a simple ‘haha get pranked idiot’ video. And yeah difficulty can be fun but it has to be meaningful, even when I was young I always hated how difficulty in most games means ‘enemies have 2x HP and 2x DMG’ Like how about increasing their depth instead of just giving them steroids

My literal only criticism: CC on an enemy that takes more than one action in a turn and CC moves on an enemy that still does insane damage, is otherworldly levels of cringe. Fallen, stun, scared, etc. that sometimes last more than 1 turn and I still get smacked for 1/3rd health? LAME

There’s a reason Pointless’ formula of big painful attack = Geared up or Dangerous requirement is used in a bunch of these little fan-mods in that you can actually stop these moves from fucking you over via stunning or dodging.

I honestly didn't think Lisa the pointless was horribly difficult. It was tough but it felt like a good tough, but I also understood lisa. I don't even think I died on anything other than like that one joy mutant guarding the record, and that fight was optional. Honestly it's fine if you want to make a game the way you want to make it, as long as you don't insult people for not being able to get through it.
