This character was legitimately terrifying as an antagonistic force. Maybe because, in Pointless, you basically never fight characters with actual firearms. Never mind that the guy had a double barrel shotgun, where as even in the original, Painful, enemies only ever had pistols or machine guns.

I agree with you, in the cabin scene he gave me the impression to be exterior to the franchise, like a crazy force of the nature that came for the mountain. it could have been more interesting to me if he just became crazy for an unknow reason when he was hiking in the wild. with another team than pure carnage the franchise just make him looks another freak in my opinion. don't get me wrong I love the franchise too, but I just think it doesn't fit well his character as is it for other bosses

I wasn't particularly keen on the second half of this fight. It's disappointing that he just turns out to be another franchiser rather than a disturbed lunatic who has nothing to do with the madness going on below. It'd be a lot creepier if he was somehow above the franchise's influence but was still this monster of a man regardless. I also didn't like that the game sets him up as being uniquely dangerous because of his shotgun only for him to discard and becomes another "giant franchiser who's cut" type of enemy. Him being the one opponent in the game who's strapped made him more intimidating, plus by this point in the mod you'll have already faced several other enemies that already did the "tall muscly guy who beats the shit out of you" shtick.

Yeah, lost potential. He is creepy, but it would be cooler of he actually was just a man, nota franchiser, or at least not yet. I imagined his second phase as him throwing the shotgun at Joel, knocking him out instantly, and just burning himself on fire, like most of the franchisers who use fire as a weapon against you with words "I guess this can work". He becomes more agile and powerful, and after you defeat him he would say "Darn, even i can't learn how to use this technique" and dies.

I overall really like this fight, one of my favorites from this mod. Sure, it's RNG-heavy, and can balance from "gives you 2 ruptures and you might as well reload" to "does nothing the whole 1st phase". But i think it really works at just showing how intimidating Jeremy is, with just the shotgun. The whole first part of the fight is basically you either trying to desperately disarm him, only for him to pick it back up, or praying to whatever you believe in that it jams or that he just doesn't try to fire it. And that's perfect for what the situation actually is for the characters, they're fighting an old war veteran that doesn't have a very stable mind anymore, could kill any of them in one shot, and is completely unpredictable due to his old age and very probable PTSD. And yeah, i also wished the second phase wasn't there, or at least that he didn't wear a jersey. Sure, it makes the fight harder and makes it so it doesn't rely COMPLETELY on RNG, but it would have been better if Jeremy wasn't a franchiser, but just a crazy and old war veteran, that wanted nothing to do with anyone, and will blast anyone who steps on his property, franchiser or not. Kinda like Satan in Painful (A comparison that's already been made by someone else), just a guy that wants/should be left alone, disconnected from the main plot, while being one of the most powerful and dangerous opponents in the game.

this double barrel deals 80 damage and applies rupture, however you gotta reload it and then aim it at someone first. reloading has a somewhat long cooldown, but its good to know if you reloaded it or not. you lose 2 speed and you cant jump while holding it. also 0.5 draw time. when you are downed, instead of being ragdolled for 5 seconds, you enrage, and your shirt is replaced with an Infinity Jersey. for the upsides and downsides of being enraged check the War Season reimagined video. (also forgot to mention that you can execute with this thing by turning your target into a red mist (oh and yeah i also forgot to mention that this thing has not a lot of range because people can just run away when you aim at them, and that it also used to be an instadown dealing around 10K DAMAGE LIKE HOLY SHIT))

God this is honestly the most disappointing fight in this whole mod to me. And I think it's primarily due to the fact that his sprite is ugly as shit. I dunno if it's the way his legs look or if it's his big dumb gaping mouth but something about this sprite pisses me off. If you look in the "bonus content" folder you can see a proposed resprite for what they would do if they ever updated the game that looks infinitely better than what is currently here

I think that´s an inherent problem that "Pointless style" has been carring ever since vanilla. Pointless always had this "Uncanny Valley" overuse that tended to be miss above hit, and there´s just so much appeal one can find in this "surreal human deformation" a lá Lovecraft, specially considering that whatever "symbolic motives" Pointless style may have with such design (assuming it´s good for an art style to be purposefully ugly to begin with), does simply not justify how morphless and senseless some sprites may look there, in Phone Crew and in this mod. I mean, yeah, in Painful there´s some crudeness in some NPC designs, but overall it was extravagant and dummy more than anything, but Pointless gets kinda too "grotesque" for it´s own good at some points, even for a post-apocalyptic scenario. If there´s one thing the case of the first design for Sonic live action movie taught us, is that there IS such thing as too "realistic".
