Actually one of the very best ensemble renditions of this song “Four Women” was when Dianne Reeves, Simone (Nina’s daughter), Angélique Kidjo, and Lizz Wright performed this on a continuous tour celebrating Nina Simone back in 2009!

No Abundant....with the exception of the original...there is only one other rendition that comes close to the original intent of taking you on a powerful rollercoaster ride the lyrics evoke and that is by Labelle in a live rendtion from 1972.

I just watched THE BET performance, and it played this next; my eyes began to well up on Lisa...and continued. I felt every single one of these women's stories. They all are personal & can be any black woman we know...ANYWHERE in the world. The descriptions seem to be about older women, however 2 of them are my life story. Bless the writer, producer & EVERY person who sings this song.

I had the great privilege of having a chat with her outside a theatre in Shaftesbury Avenue last year, she was waiting fir a friend and i was in my wheelchair and I had no idea who I was talking to, other than she was very beautiful and charismatic. In those few minutes of casual chat, I felt more visible than I had in ages. Thank you, for those minutes and for the great art that you are. Plus I did go to the art show at the serpentine gallery you recommended. I hope to see you in concert soon.
