yeah, that area is called Casal Ventoso and it used to be way, way worse than nowadays! so the driver was kind of right to let you know. but it's not like you'll be mugged, it's more about all the drug issues around that place. glad everything went (kinda) fine. great video!

Was the airbnb a superhost? This is normally how we avoid these surprises. Listings in bad neighbourhoods can't usually achieve or maintain super host status. You do pay a little more, but it seems the benefits offset the small increase in cost if you're staying at least a week.

Hi Crosby, So inspired by your family trip to Portugal thats i decided to take myself and my family of 5 to experience Porto 3 nights, Algarve 3nights, Lisbon 3 nights, Seville 2 nights and Barcelona 10 nights. Can i consult with you for some suggestions since i cant see it all and go to all the places, feeling over whelmed in picking places for this epic family vacation. My guess is my kids are about the same age as you and you sister and myself and my wife are about same age as your parents.

Nivea lip balm is the best. It's widely available in the US. I don't know if they have it in Portugal. Nivea lip balm is awesome. Does the job every time!

Wow I love your energy! I watched your Sevilla video and you gave so many great tips for my travels next month. So hubs and I are celebrating our 50th birthdays....50! Holy 💩 I can't believe it. 🤯Reality ✅ Anyway, we're going to Lisbon right after Spain. What area did you stay in? I was researching the best areas to stay in Lisbon and so far I came up with Baxia & Rossio and Chiado.

I don't understand why Americans try to visit so many places in such a short amount of time. You spend too much money and get burned out. You could easily stay 3-4 weeks in Lisbon and actually really explore the city and surrounding areas. I hope you come back! There's a lot more to see.

Seemed like an "eclectic" experience, from bad to good, but still fun, lol... it adds to the story’s charm. Please don’t take this the wrong way but when you tried to speak Portuguese it sounded more like Spanish than Portuguese, which usually "irks" the Portuguese. You tried to use the right words but the pronunciation is quite different. Very nice video, great humor!

It definitely went from bad to good, that's for sure! We had a great time. And yes - I speak Spanish and hardly any Portuguese, so I'm sure it had some Spanish twang in there. At least I tried, right?!

@@CrosbyGraceTravels Yes, you did use the right words, so you made a good effort. The thing is if your pronunciation sounds like Spanish many Portuguese won’t like it (it’s a long story), so your best effort might not be perceived as such. It might sound silly and tiresome, but if you ever come across a similar situation and you want to try Portuguese, just explain you only know Spanish, this way people might reply to you in Portuguese and give you some tips on how to pronounce it. You should try the Azores or Madeira Islands just to practice, lol! Anyway, great videos!
