I'm not surprised. This was highly expected, anyway. Sounds like it has had a new alarm though, so hopefully they do make use of the equipment. Hopefully the GWE barriers will be preserved somewhere. A better option to save money would be to retrofit fairly new GWE barrier arms onto SPX barrier boxes, as they're pretty much the same type of barrier box. They would have to re-use the old weight holders though, but I can't see why it's a problem for NR...

No new alarms here. They just keep fluctuating. Must be something to do with the incorrect dimensions and specifications for the mounting, motors etc. why GWE's are never fitted to SPX boxes.

Great video and crossing! I wonder why old/retired crossing equipment doesn't typically get preserved over there?

Thanks very much! Some does make it to heritage railways, though a lot is probably too costly to maintain there.

@Leeswinburn Nice video compilations at Liss level crossing in Hampshire by the way and i love the crossing gates are shut for a bit longer when the trains goes past and the crossing gates will open up again and all the cars and traffic can go and good alarms sounds too

You and me both. I had been expecting some kind of barrier renewal here for years, but wouldn't have guessed full re-signalling would have happened for at least a good while longer. Thanks by the way!

@SouthEastLevelCrossings yeah it is a shame but i am really suprised the barriers lasted all that time because there not in the best condition. I think it needed new alarms tho because these are really quiet

Network Rail renewing every single barrier in the UK at this point. I'm now expecting Liss Common to get SPX half barriers!

It would make absolutely zero sense to do that as its full renewal is due in October as part of the same scheme. However, as we have previously seen, what seems to make zero sense to us, Network Rail have a tendency to go and do...

I don't believe it will yet. That's likely to just be a barrier renewal whenever it happens as it's not part of this particular re-signalling and modernisation scheme.
