Lyrics come from a song by Curtiss Maldoon: Sepheryn. They are credited. It's amazing how this song fits very well in how Madonna was feeling at that time after the birth of her first child and a completely new era started, the live version at Oprah was jaw dropping!!! I became a fan after hearing this song, I fell in love!

Madonna appeared to embrace her true self on this album. She seems to delve into what makes her tick, free of fear and with no apology. She was smart to let William Orbit control and direct this track. The alternative production direction can be heard on the 12" single mixes. More specifically, Madonna had a choice between releasing two different productions of "Ray of Light" as a single. The alternatives are still quite excellent! However, the William Orbit version is absolute perfection

"It sometimes takes us a long time to realize how empty and depressed we are" is a line I could not possibly relate more to (along with most of what you said after that as well tbh). This last year was that realization for me and deep regret for the years I wasted not realizing it or doing anything about it. One thing I have always loved about Madonna is the self reflective aspect of so much of her music. It might be about experiences specific to her life, but it's always written in a way that you can interpret it and relate to it in your own way. Ray of Light is from the same album as Frozen. That album was a complete masterpiece. I reccommend Power of Goodbye or Nothing Really Matters & Substitute for Love, all of which are from this same album.

The video for Bedtime Story was acquired by the Museum of Modern Art, the first music video to be acquired by a museum as a work of art. And Nothing Really Matters have incredible deep lyrics about her journey of life.

The music, the production, the lyrics of Ray of light (the album) are really great, but Ray of light, the song, is a cover of a 70s song. It sounds totally different, as if it were another song, but part of the lyrics are the same, so maybe we should also wonder what this folk group from the 70s meant...and sometimes in the 70s they composed under LSD effects :-) sometimes heaven knows what they meant!

I like the way you get personal when reacting to Madonna’s songs. To really understand Madonna, the person and the artist, you need to go back to where it all started. Back to 1982, or maybe even further when she played in several bands. One Madonna era leeds into another. She did what she did because of what happened in the past. I believe that a British man wrote the song and sent it to her record company years before Madonna heard the song. I think that he was working in a warehouse when Madonna was played his demo and loved the song. The story goes that Madonna sent him One million dollars to secure the song with more royalties when released. Someone correct me if any details are incorrect.

Hi. Enjoying watching you Anton. Though. I need to point out. Madonna refuses to work with someone who is Scorpio. Be aware, and I grasp you buddy, but you are reading zodiac. Madonna is reading more mazaroth. It like the story of the universe beginning, the promised seed, comes a judge, that crushes the scorpion etc. Finally it ends with the mighty roar of Leo the lion. One song tells part of the mini story, the next will tell another part of the story etc until those cluster have put that piece of visual theatre to an end. Generously done if you step back and see the bigger picture. The dance too acts the lyrics out. As you rightly said buddy. People have layers. If you seen who she performs a song, behaving badly for instance then feeds in sorrow, redemption, then followed by a tune about walking the wire, in court and facing judgement for her behaviour and shown sorry, she still faced courts then gets the death sentence and takes the attitude she doesn't give a fxxk as she rises high on stage after death to face a higher judgment. I'm skimming here BTW. Its extremely deep or just entertainment. She sings about climbing the tree of life etc. To most, that's a metaphor. However she actually means the tree of life regarding ancient karbala and the waiting for one earth is her masonic expressions. I can't explain each song here. But lots of chess boards, black, white and red. Watch Ray of light again. You shall see her red thread of her wrist. I'm not involved with it but I've studied it. The mazaroth is actually in the bible. It's extremely deep. The sphinx and pyramids as onions belt. All have meaning. I'm sure some will think it's crazy, or I am. Not here to preach. But mankind named everything on earth but God reserved naming the stars for an exact purpose. Each name of each star is a person in scriptures. Mind blowing if you get a decent KZbin video to touch on the basics. Back to the point though. The first sign is actually Virgo to Leo. It predates the Greek zodiac.
