Not a bloody thing mate. You are damn right, we are Aussies. So it’s a good thing not to celebrate the day our country was invaded by a foreign military and claimed for the king of a foreign land. And to those who feverishly dispute it, take time to think about the actual facts. Most people want to keep Australia Day as Jan 26 as they don’t want the indigenous to win. That is a stupid motive.
@mrman15368 ай бұрын
What a stupid idea to think Australians want to be devided. The No Vote decided No devision of Australians for Australia. Sure the king claimed the land , but those naked with tools of sticks and stones fighting over women and food always on the move brought forward to the current century phones cars housing education proud of heritage will not be forgotten by the people of Australia.

To many polies seem to think their Job is to decide things, they seem to have forgotten that the only reason we have them is to go out and do what we the people want, even if they themselves don't agree or support it. As soon as you take this type of position you give up your right to decide anything, your there to enact the will of the people and not some tiny fraction of the people, the majority of the people. I am so sick of things like this where someone who is supposed to be doing what they were told gets confused and decides to do what they want, we the people tolerate it so we don't have to take on the responsibility personally I guess.

That difinitive one day that nothing of any noteworthy significance occured is the 4th of July. Councils are not an example of democracy in action. The people don’t vote for issues, they have a tiny quorum that make decisions which can be far reaching in the secrecy of Council Committee meetings. The people have no say on what goes on. Time for a complete overhaul of the council system.
@VK6AB-8 ай бұрын
If the council is not acting in good faith, don't pay your rates. Go to council meetings become more active in your local communities - stop electing these banal officials. They are public figures, record what they say in council meetings, ask them hard questions based on facts - relay what is said to your friends and relatives, post it to social media. If they are bad faith actors they will expose themselves.
@alicerose66408 ай бұрын
If they cancel it, then every single person should congregate on council land and celebrate Australia Day, with gusto. Be loud, be proud, be patriotic and make sure the council have some cleaning up to do the next day. This will send a clear message of what the people want.
@tin20018 ай бұрын
Do it before the actual day though, since the actual day is a public holiday and no one would be there... Organise a BBQ and lots of flags and stuff. Get the local high school music students down to play a string of iconic Australian music like Land Down Under, Great Southern Land and obviously the national anthem... Probably skip songs like You're The Voice and Beds Are Burning to avoid confusing people about what you're there for.

I will always celebrated Australia day, because Australia would not be what it was, till Labor now. We convict heritage are proud what they turned Australia in to, and even the indigenous have a better country now, apart for the ones in politics, never satisfied. I believe no council should have that right to ban a national holiday, that should be up to no one , rather racist towards the people of Australia.
