What makes Mimi a good rapper is not because she's charismatic (like the one in BP) nor she's savage (like the one in G-Idle), but because she knows how to compromise. She knows what to give and what to abandon and that results in her managing varying rap flows, beat and expressions. And that shows how "skilled" Mimi is.

Hyojung, Yooa, and Seunghee are the holy trinity of power house vocals in new gen gg's (also lets not forget Binnie and Jiho who keep up with the other members pretty well for being just lead vocalists) , Oh My Girl have been killing it in the talent department since day 1 ... Also if ur doing a diving deeper check out Twilight from the Remember Me album its a bop (and Echo from the same album) , also do their old title tracks they are all soooo good , Cupid, Closer, Liar Liar, Windy Day (especially), A-ing, Coloring Book .. Mimis raps in Cupid and A-ing are my main sources of life

I really like how every member blatantly gets an era, except YooA whose concept is she highkey slays EVERY era. They also do really well at alternating between two SIDES of cute - fantastical and party, and often mix them too (such as Remember Me). Hyojung and Seunghee do really well at standing out as 2 very different main vocals; YooA as the centre gets to shine with her vocals and abilities, and the way Jiho and Binnie share out the Lead Vocalist role is very creative!! (For example, Binnie acted as the Lead Vocal in BAM and SSFWL and paired with Arin for Remember Me and Bungee, whereas Jiho slayed the Lead Vocals in Remember Me and Bungee, and paired with Arin in SSFWL!

I also really love the whole pairing with Arin concept - since Arin isnt a powerhouse, she pairs with a Lead Vocal and it fits so well!! And we cannot excuse MiMi's rapping and dancing ability like someone pls help she literally attacks all the time

and yes. Yooa is an extremely great vocalist and dancer with great stage presence. She'd make a great soloist. If she was a member of a popular girlgroup like blackpink, twice or redvelvet then she'd be recognized as one of the best Idols in the industry

your reaction to yooa's voice in checkmate reminded me of the panel's reaction to her solo performance on king of masked singer!! she was a panelist for quite a while on that show, and the current panel then couldn't believe that it was her singing when she took off the mask bc they're already familiar with her yet they were completely shocked to hear her more low-tone, raspy voice!! (this is me encouraging you to watch that performance too) and YES PLEASE DO A DIVING DEEPER. 1. Windy day (this is a title track and I think you'll enjoy watching the video for this as well!!) 2. In checkmate, the part that blew your mind was sung by YOOA. 😂 it was indeed her. She is a complete package. Checkmate was my favourite but I grew to love other songs too. 2:03 - RIP my ears 😂 Also: I'm, like you, pretty much blown away by the incredibly diverse and extremely good tracks on this album. No song sounds alike, and you can really hear the talent in the way they use their voices in different ways (especially impressed by YooA and Mimi, which totally stands out from the pack). From the fairy like pop of The Fifth Season to the almost sultry, dirty style heard in parts of Vogue - this is really, really good. I am so glad you decided to check them out once again even though they have always been all-round talented from the start. They are a really hardworking and well balanced gg. The members are funny too and have made me laugh a lot. Check out their variety shows etc. I feel like they are a group that can take on different variety of sounds and genres, concepts in their performances and music. Mimi still writes the rap for their songs and she have been involved in some music compositions for one or two tracks in this album as well if I am not wrong about that. Their music have longevity as one can listen to it a few years later and it doesn’t age but grows well on some listeners. This is one of my favourite albums from oh my girl and if you are a regular oh my girl listener which I hope you do, you can actually hear the maturity and diversity in their music especially in the last two albums. Yay Oh My Girl!! I love B-sides from WM groups: I feel like even when it's a more generic pop trope on its face, it is always very well-executed, with terrific vocals and interesting touches in the arrangements and instrumentation. Seeing people reaction over Yooa's voice has always been my favorite. People seem to forget she's one of Oh My Girl's OG Vocal Trinity, as her vocal skills always being shadowed by her dancing skills. WM hid her actual potential most of times to suit Oh My Girl's songs. I love how they finally let the girls shine more gradually in each comeback since Remember Me. Especially in The Fifth Season, we get to discover more vocal colors from the girls.

It touched my heart when you mentioned Secret! I used to love them so much and still listen to their music to this day! They were so talented (deserved a better company too) & I know exactly what you mean about missing their brassy sound. 😭 I'm happy to see you finally reacting to this album and cannot wait for you to dive deeper into OH MY GIRL! i totally agree that mimi is one of the best girl group rappers. and its so unexpected that oh my girl have such amazing rapper when their image is cute and girly. i love oh my girl because they sound so good and well balanced. seunghee sings with emotion, hyojung sings very stable, yooa sings powerful, mimi raps excellent, i don't know yet which style binnie, arin, and jiho excel but they provide solid support.

My Top 5 songs of OMG(except songs you already reviewed) 1. Twilight (B side of Remember me) It is Not generic girl group song. It's cool. I'm sure that you'll like this. 2. One step, Two step (B side of Pink Ocean) So beautiful song. It can be generic, innocent-feeling girl group song, but best among those songs. 3. Windy day (Lead song of Windy day) There are people who dislike this song because of unique chorus(?). But People who like this song, including me, are mad at this song in good way 4. Closer (Lead song of Closer) This was OMG's second album, which means their first comeback song. I think it is even more dreamlike than Secret garden. And for new girl group(2015, OMG was rookie) It was very experimental to do a song like this. Really love this song 5. Sixteen (B side of Secret garden) Sooooo addicting chorus. It is really fun song. Little bit of warm-feeling because of lyrics. There are more songs I want to recommend you, but since there are 'too' many.....😆 I love OMG because their songs are so good, first album to last album, lead song to B side, all of them. 😊

Instead of just diving how about making a free fall to Oh My Girl? 😁 You wouldn't be disappointed, at some point try to listen to Cupid (Mimi's rapping slayed since debut days), Closer (epic!), I Found Love, One Step Two Step (still a favorite 'til now), Windy Day, Perfect Day (have a rock-ish vibe), Twilight (if u love Checkmate I think you gonna love this too), and there's even more great songs from them... to me Oh My Girl is a girl group that "more than just meets the eye", each comeback from them they always brought something new yet they can keep their signature style and made it their own, I really hope more people wil be aware of how amazing they are, a group with this amount of talent with all-visuals members, hard working, nice & funny personality really should not be slept on~~
