@@OCDHIFiGuy thanks! im curious because i have a pc "hifi" setup with studio monitors (well its quite low budget compared to you guys, i would say 3000€ overall) it was a struggle at first but with the right "housecurve" you can make studio monitors sound really good... and in some ways i prefer it to "hifi speakers" because it lets you really hear what went into the mix (tho unaltered flat studio monitors sound overly bright and light on the bass, probably for most tastes) i actually tried to replicate the bassboost (+ 4-6db highshelf at 40hz) and this is definitely bringing out the "smoothness" i was hearing in the showcase (and it actually makes the speakers real showcase speakers i would say) normally i use just a housecurve starting at 20hz and at around -4db at 20khz Do you guys actually use the bass boost for mixing? or is this a EQ that you use to actually double check for other systems?

Mikey. Pink noise is not all frequencies at the same amplitude. Every frequency lowers 3 DB per Octave as one goes higher up in frequency.

@@OCDHIFiGuy I have been building a unique sound studio for two channel music reproduction over the last 11 years. Entire listening room was hand built, individual drivers selected, crossover slopes and types, 100 percent active nothing passive in the system. It excels in instrument separation and 3 - Dimensional Holographic Imaging. One listener said it was a “transcendental experience”. I knew nothing about sound and without going to sound school for engineering or mixing and mastering, I spent the last few years learning about sound. So that I could tune the system to my liking. I learned all the technical things like crossover types and slopes, phase shift, all pass filters, time domain, crosstalk, room treatment etc. I had lots of people that have helped me along in my audiophile journey and still do. The system is almost near completion after 11 years. Because the system was purpose built, the room and the drivers work together in harmony creating a toroidal bubble of sound. Put one’s ear on the edge of that bubble and along the plane of inertia and the speakers and room totally disappear and the listener is transported through space and time to the recording venue. What they do when they get there is an emotionally engaging experience with the artists ( for music lovers ) or it triggers a memory from the past that they have a emotional connection with. Regardless where the TIME Machine takes you, it’s going to be unforgettable experience!

The smallish room designed to such a degree seems to matter the most. As you yourself said. $50,000 max in equipment minus software, can give a person a million dollar experience.🤑 Go into an ultra high end mixing room regarding multi channel mixing for Movie sound tracks and such. It can litterely scare the heck out of a person.😳 Hearing a person run up from behind with a chain saw!🤔😛🤯🤓

I have to say a well setup/good quality horn system will always win for me. They “push” the soundstage into the room whereas other speakers place it behind the speakers. For some that behind the speakers is their preference but not for me.

My System plays subsonic well past at 111 DB even at 10 HZ and lower, up to 120 - 125 DB or so. But 111 Hz is my absolute limit as well, as it seems as if I were to try and take it past that point, it might cause hearing damage.

@davemalekpour3625 Жыл бұрын
Hearing damage comes from SPL but even more so from square waves and distortion. Even below 85 db distortion affects the cilia in your ear and can break it off, and that’s why engineers can listen to higher levels in a good studio for prolonged time and still hear very well. But it’s not a good thing to listen very long above 85-95db. But when tracking a bass guitar, you play differently if you feel it then just hearing it thru small speakers or on headphones. Bass can be very inspiring feeling wise… in that we have almost no limits with our systems

How much Are all the Ports giving to the Rich Clean sound, are they permanent or are they adjustable?
@OCDHIFiGuy Жыл бұрын
Ports extend bass. Not adjustable, there is only one tuned resonance for a speaker and the port size and length determine the frequency.

Good video Mickey! I think that white noise is all frequencies at even amplitude, pink noise is all frequencies adjusted for the sensitivities of the human ear which is more sensitive to certain frequencies, so to get a room to be even one would use white noise. Or am I incorrect?
@OCDHIFiGuy Жыл бұрын
He was using Pink noise.. that much I know... the rest not so sure.
@davemalekpour3625 Жыл бұрын
Pink noise, 1⁄f noise or fractal noise is a signal or process with a frequency spectrum such that the power spectral density is inversely proportional to the frequency of the signal. In pink noise, each octave interval carries an equal amount of noise energy. Pink noise sounds like a waterfall.
