I grew up on their first 2 albums, when they had a lot of acoustic tracks, but it was much more slower gothic metal with no gutteral vocals. I love how they've evolved into a much more melodic death metal sound. The male singer kind of went hidden for years, then when he came out with his gutteral, he dominated.

I’ve been a fan since Comalies, their first breakout album, and the hit singles’Swamped’ and ‘Heaven is a Lie’. Comalies XX was a 20th anniversary re-recorded version, with their heavier, more modern sound. Their Black Anima album from 2019 also shows how much heavier their sound has become over the years. ‘Layers of Time’ is a must listen.

I was a huge fan of these guys when Comalies was released I haven't listened to them in years! They used to be more of a goth metal band ,,Your reaction video is the first I have heard from them in years....I really enjoyed this track. Christina is on point as always but I was surprised how much I enjoyed the male vocals..Definitely going to check out their new album now

I've listened to both the original and 20th Anniversary re-record/remastered versions of Comalies and I have to say I prefer the 20th Anniversary remastered version

I'm born in 1988. I began listening to Lacuna Coil in 2002 when I heard "To Live Is To Hide" on some random gaming channel on Sky Digital. Changed so much for musically. Cristina was my crush throughout high school. I managed to see the band in 2005 supporting In Flames. I love Cristina and I love Lacuna Coil!

Well Imakaiya, welcome to the "Chaos Keepers Out Of Control" or as Chrissy would like to say "Coilers". Now you've been initiated into the fandom; I first heard LC waaaay back in 2006 when my friends and I first saw Underworld and Underworld: Evolution. We had a LAN party while in college and, my friend Brian (who sadly is now passed away), showed them to me, and that was when I first heard Lacuna, but they've been one of my favorite bands of all time for over 2 decades.

Sorry for the late comment. Great reaction! Really enjoyed this song and hope they will tour the East Coast soon (they did a West Coast swing recently). I love how her voice just seems to swell and float and the beautiful contrast with Andrea's harsh vocals. Yes I've seen them live, so good. Especially when I saw them with Megadeth and she sang "A tout le monde" duet with Mustaine. I also like 2 of their covers Depeche Modes Enjoy the Silence and REM's Losing my Religion. Great underrated band especially live.

For me, lacuna coil musically moved into the Metalcore, Grindcore corner, they used to be more in Gothic Rock/Metal, Andrea Ferro used to only sing plain and adapted to the genre change and only crwled

Definitely not grindcore. That's napalm death territory. But yes, Lacuna Coil has changed a lot in their sound. I guess they were one of the bands that helped to create the so-called Gothic Metal genre by taking influences from doom metal bands like Paradise Lost and adding more atmospherics, female vocals and a bit of theatrical flair.

@@UberNoodle Paradise Lost basically started gothic metal. They began as death-doom, but they are a gothic metal band. Groups like Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Anathema, and Type O Negative took doom metal and gothic rock foundations and turned it into gothic metal in the early 90s. Groups like Lacuna Coil and Evanescence took it more into the mainstream, but they didn’t start the genre. And I mean Type O Negative’s Bloody Kisses was a platinum selling album, so it’s not like the genre didn’t have some mainstream success already.

Evanescence is a different kettle of fish. They came much later, and I wouldn't put them shoulder to shoulder with Lacuna Coil whatsoever. They are much more pop influenced. And dude, I know my metal history. But we're on the KZbin comments here, so it's fair degree of shorthand and generalisation is required in order to be concise.
