The lyrics sort of developed from there and then it later got changed to midnight memories instead. It’s true because we’ve got an audio clip of it. The change my mind lyric was just Niall and Liam messing around on stage once.

let's go to some facts about this album: Louis "fired" the guy who made the songs for them, he was not so comfortable with the fully pop sound anymore, and decided to start writing more for the band, so much that most songs on the album Louis and Liam wrote. Louis has a lot of pop rock and britpop influences (oasis fan, AM and a few more) so he tried to put some of that on the album. Louis said in an interview already, that as he had few solos in the band, he would dedicate himself to writing, and thus he became the greatest composer of 1D. (curiosity: Louis was the richest in the band, he lost that post because of all the donations to charity he ever made).

And there was/is a lot fans that suffer of depression, and doesn't have very supportive parents and relatives, so this was for them too "if I could would ya swear I would never put you down". apparently from what i heard, 'diana' is about a fan who sent one direction a suicide note and they wanted to write her a song or something. it's a bigger story than that i think and im not even sure if i told it right, but i guess it kind of makes sense. that's why the song 'diana' means so much to me though. it's such a beautiful song and because of the background story, it makes it even more beautiful.
