Don't worry,I love watching people hearing this for the first time. Imagine how confused we were 49 years ago when this was recorded. You can't put this group in a box. They were together for 20 years only stopping on the death of Freddie (lead singer) in 1991. Four university graduates, all completely different, made 15 albums over 500 individual songs they are considered one of the most influential groups of thel last century, all members wrote each were inducted to rock hall of fame. If you choose to go on this journey you will love it. They were a group apart, constantly pushing the boundaries leading the way. They were a group that were best live,in the times of no auto tune etc, they never used ear pieces on stage relying on their tightness as a group. Freddie is consider to be the best front man,not just by the fan but by anyone who knew about music. Take a dive, we will guide you,you some of their songs already..... We will rock you, We are the champions and Another one bits the dust. Have subscribed looking forward to what you do next. Blessings from England

This is a mic opera.Queen will never let you down re: vocals instruments, harmonizing, experts, all genes of music, getting better every year of their moc realm, and a rhapsody tells a story. This is a masterpiece, and has been my favorite since its release in 1975, way ahead of its time as far as how videos were made: they used to call these promotional films. Freddie Mercury was a genius is writing and putting this together. And that voice!!

Always love a first reaction to Queen, great! Thanks!! One reason the harmonies at the beginning sound so clean is Freddie Mercury, the lead singer, is the only one singing. He tracked all the harmonies. His voice is unmatched in versatility and quality. Roger Taylor, drummer, does the really high harmonies in the middle part and often provides important backup vocals - especially live (yes, while drumming). Don't miss "Somebody to Love" live in Montreal '81!

What genre is it? It's the genre 'Queen'. They're a genre all of their own. Ballads, operatic harmonies, hard rock, soft rock, stadium rock... and anything else you can think of. Welcome to the Queen rabbit hole. I suggest 'Someone to Love' from the concert in 1981 in Montreal, and their 20 minute set in Live Aid in 1985... You will certainly recognise some Queen songs. Freddie wrote this. He wanted to do something different, like opera. But the record producer didn't want him to. So Freddie made this like an opera but with different beats so the kids in Britian could, like they said over there, "bang their heads to." Then since it is 6 minutes long they said no one would play it over the radio. They did and it was a hit all over the world not just once, but decades apart after Freddie's death.

This band blazed so many new trails , and influenced so many stars to come from Country Singer Garth Brooks, to early rappers like MC Hammer. Even Lady GaGa was a huge fan and strongly influenced by these Geniuses . Her name was taken from one of Queen's songs " Radio GaGa" . Michael Jackson was a big fan of Queen , and He and Freddie Mercury were friends , and even recorded a few songs together. Go listen to the duet Michael and Freddie recorded together called " There Must Be More To Life Than This". Some other huge Queen songs you will recognize are " Another One Bites The Dust" " We Are The Champions" , "We Will Rock You" and on and on and on. Queen were to rock-Pop music what Mozart was to classical.

I feel so envious of you seeing and hearing this incredible thing for the first time. When people comment, I think - hold on, you ain't seen nothing yet! Genre, Queen is their own genre, and a Rhapsody is a series of musical sections stitched together to make a whole piece. This one is an a capella ballad, an opera, and a crazy rocker! A crime, confession, trial and punishment ... it just leaves you breathless, head in a whirl, Dante. Enjoy your Queen journey, there's so much to experience. x

This is the penultimate track from their 1975 album "A Night At The Opera". It is one of the greatest albums ever made. If you're listening to it for the first time, you must listen to it in one go, through decent headphones, for full effect. (It's only about 45 minutes long. DO NOT LISTEN TO INDIVIDUAL SONGS!!! It's an album, not a collection of singles.) The only time you are allowed to stop is between the songs "Seaside Rendezvous" and "The Prophet's Song", to simulate turning the vinyl record over. It opens with a savage diss song about their former manager, by Freddie "Lead Singer" Mercury. It contains a love song to Roger "Drummer" Taylor's car, a love song to John "Bassist" Deacon's wife (written by Deacon, don't worry...), a folk-rock acoustic song about the time dilation effects of faster-than-light interstellar space travel (now *there's* a sentence you probably don't expect to read unless you're a Queen fan...) by Brian "Guitarist" May, and a song that wouldn't have sounded out of place in the 1920's vaudeville/music-hall age. Then you turn over to Side 2, to hear songs about the end of the world, Mercury's best female friend, lessons from a life, Bohemian Rhapsody, and the UK National Anthem arranged for lots of guitars and a snare drum. Basically, if you haven't listened to it and you find you've got an hour spare, listen to it.
