Okay, so a few context on the MV: 1. Sexy baby is a reference to 30 Rock, probably. Cristin Milioti’s character often says “I’m a sexy baby” on the episode she guest starred in 2. The black and white picture in the bathroom scene is Taylor’s maternal grandmother, Marjorie Finlay. She was an opera singer and Taylor actually puts her vocal in “Marjorie”, track 13 from the album evermore 3. The bathroom scale scene used to be a little different, she received some backlash for it and had to cut it out afterward. The scene itself is a reference to Taylor’s eating disorder, something she publicly opens up to in her documentary “Miss Americana” 4. The guitar smashing scene: the guitar she plays, the one with the Koi fishes painted on it is from her Speak Now Tour 2011. Some people thought this could be a clue that she would release the re-recordings for Speak Now after this (which she did). The guitar was put in a museum after this, but Taylor took it to concert with her, and the one in the museum is replaced by the one she smashed in the MV 5. “But who got the beach house?”: Taylor owns Holiday House in Rhode Island, a beach house off the coast. This was also the subject for “the last great american dynasty”, track 3 from folklore 6. “To my children I leave… 13 cents”: 13 is Taylor’s lucky number, back in the days she used to write it in the back of her hand before she goes on stage. She likes referencing this number all the time, and each track 13 in her albums are usually about something personal for her 7. “Secret encoded message”: Maybe you can tell by now, but Taylor likes to leave A LOT of easter eggs in her music, MVs, and heck, even on tour. In the scene, her kids are convinced that maybe she left an easter egg considering their inheritance 8. “thErE is no sEcrEt EncodEd mEssagE that mEans somEthing ElsE, lovE taylor” : There are 13 E’s in this sentence 9. “That’s from Fearless Tour 2009” : That’s an actual dress from her Fearless tour back in 2009 The Taylor Swift fandom is a bit different because she always leaves us a lot of clues that are sometimes obvious, sometimes not. Sometimes we got it right, and other times she is just messing with us and we ended up clowning a lot.

I still think the "That's from Fearless Tour..." thing is a call back to a *certain* person who *used* a dress that *was in a museum* and ended up ruining it... funny enough the *daughter-in-law's* name (Kimber) *sounds* like a *certain person's name* (Kimberly)=Kim K. You know just another Swiftie theory (I love clowning).

This is amazing!! My favorite reaction channel reacting to my favorite artist! Something I appreciated was you guys bringing up how Taylor isn’t the only artist who writes about love, yet she was labeled as a “serial dater” back in the day. She’s mentioned in interviews the hypocrisy of artists such as Ed Sheeran & Bruno Mars writing about love and dating as well but never being labeled in the media as she has.

Yes... she isn't the only one, however the issue i have with it... Is that she drags down the other person constantly, and the thing is we will never know what fully happened. So it's not good, especially when she has hordes of fans that would attack the other. And let me be clear dating a lot or being with many people isn't wrong, you do you, but if you're constantly being broke up with... at some point I think you have to realize you might be the problem which is what this song is, but for the fans if anyone Said that before they would be crucified...
@mathies3598 Жыл бұрын
@@nickenglehart6469 she has every right to write about her life and how she feels. She also NEVER discloses who a song is about so it's not her fault that people make those connections. Unless you think she's lying about the things she writes... just dont be an asshole to her??? And you won't get negative songs written about you. Taylor lautner- she takes the blame. Harry Styles - the worst thing she said about him is that he can't drive a Snowmobile like it's not like she called him an asshole. If anything "we never go out of style" is a positive look back on their relationship. Joe Alwyn- over 20 positive songs about their relationship while it was still ongoing.

OMG what a great surprise to wake up to- if Eric likes lyrics, he will love Taylor Swift. I don't even know where to begin, depends on Eric and Calvin's musical tastes?? I would say top albums I would recommend are Speak Now (my favorite of hers, country-rock, and she wrote the whole thing herself), Red (I mean, just a classic and her transition from country to pop), and folklore (for her more acoustic style). Oh and I highly recommend her NPR Tiny Desk Concert- you get to hear her playing some great songs acoustically and also get a sense of her personality.

I was trying so hard not to write down a list of everything I think you should react to but at the end you asked for recommendations so here we go. Dababa, you might understand why I'm choosing these (btw great song choice to introduce an artist!) 1) All Too Well Short-Film (It's a great introduction to introduce Taylor's lyric writing but also her direction. I feel like BW Crew would have a lot to talk about her capability as a director) 2) Midnights album (2 songs at a time if they don't have any music videos) 3) Folklore Betty August James trilogy (I'd love to see you go into these especially references between these 3 songs) 4) Folklore or Evermore album (I like lyrical discussions more than anything and what better albums to do that than these two. You could also play Shakespeare or Taylor Swift game here) 5) I want to say Reputation Album/ Tour but with the lore of everything that led up to it. 6) Lover Album (It's a personal preference but it has some of the best lyrics she ever wrote) 7) 1989 album since the Taylor's version is coming out soon but also the lore of why she is rerecording and everything. 8) Speak Now re-recordings especially Better Than Revenge (because it's such a unique sound compared to rest of her songs), Long Live(for the lyrics) and the rest of the album too. 9) The Man music video with the bts (obviously) 10) Literally any song is fine. I am just so happy that y'all are doing this!! I will be happy with any music reaction (Taylor Swift or otherwise) because as someone who enjoys lyrics a lot, I love how much you pay attention to them!

Oh wow ive been hoping for this since the brooklyn 99 episode where Jake said his favorite artist is Taylor Swift and none of the guys knew anything by her!! I didn't become a big fan until folklore and evermore, as an avid reader her lyrics and storytelling are not nearly as praised in mainstream media like they should be. She has such a way with words Edit: 6:30 you're spot on Eric, she wrote the song Blank Space based on the persona that the media makes her out to be- this jetsetting heartbreaker who can get any guy but they leave because she's crazy. She's a genius at flipping the script on her critics

If y'all wanna do more Taylor specifically, DO FOLKLORE it's easily her most approachable album, and the one that highlights her lyricism the most (her lyrics are always the main focus, but it's the most obvious with the stripped back production). Omg, this is awesome, I loved this reaction! If you're looking for more Taylor please react to the All too well short film. All too well is a song that was originally released in 2012 in the Red album, and at some point she confessed that the song was ten minutes long but had to be cut to five to be released. For the past years she's been rerecording her old music cause her former label sold the rights of her masters and she can claim the rights from those new versions in that way. She adds songs from the vault on those rerecordings, song that had been written at the time the album came out but weren't included. She released three rerecordings under the (Taylor's Version) mark, and another one comes in october. When she released Red (Taylor's Version) she added the ten minutes version of All too well AND writed and directed a short film starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O'Brien. The video is gorgeous (and sad) and the lyrics are awesome!

I would love to see a reaction to the Midnights album. I've been a fan since 2008 and Midnights is one of my favorite albums. Taylor does write a lot about love, but not all of it is about heartbreak, not all of it biographical, and most of it can be applied to different situations other than romantic relationships. The best part about Taylor's music is that every song can be stripped back to acoustic and still be so much fun to listen to because her lyrics are great and she has a real talent for storytelling. Fun fact: the 3 Grammy album of the year awards were won in 3 different genres; the first was for Fearless (country) then 1989 (pop) then folklore (folk/alternative) so she's also very versatile
