Actually, you say that, but I think it’s poetic in a way. Like, think about the actual appearance of Space Junk Galaxy itself; a bunch of discarded items and debris from structures long since abandoned, mixed in with the products of nature itself. Such a visage sounds worthless, and yet juxtaposed among the vastness of the universe, not to mention the way that gravity makes such things “dance” with each other in the vast nothing, it’s a sight to see. So, if actual space junk can seem like art, why not a song by the same name?

I never finished my Wii copy, and eventually sold it. Didn’t hear or seek out the soundtrack until I got the 3D All Stars collection. The second “Luma” kicked on, I cried. Because it was the one song on the soundtrack that consistently made me sad as a kid. Whenever I unlocked another chapter of the book in the library, it just felt sad reading how Rosalina grew up. Such a beautiful track now though. The whole soundtrack is beautiful, but Luma just hits so hard.

The Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack is not only beautiful but it’s really nostalgic. I don’t know what it is but every time I listen to a specific song, I go into a trance and I just reminisce about the simpler times when I was still a kid, especially with “Star Babies”, “Dawn”, “Birth” and “Family” It’s very nice and is why the Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack holds a special place in my heart.
