Күн бұрын

The Black Lives Matter Movement has brought to light injustices we as a community have failed to address for many years. What are the systemic barriers Black, Muslim women face - in the mosques and in their daily lives? To help us tackles these issues, we have with us our returning guest, Timaj Garad, a multidisciplinary storyteller, who uses poetry, theatre and music to bring her stories to life.

I definitely agreed with her, there are too many discrimination on black Muslim inside the Muslim community, and outside the community and the same thing happened to me too. They was asking me the same question where I am from and telling me how a Muslim women’s have to seat in the prayer. And by reading the al Coran I never Read any part explaining the way a woman’s can seat different to how a men can seat in the prayer. I am born Muslim and still practicing but all the time I am going to some of the mosque not in my black community they always have something to said. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one it is happening. And I hope one day these races and discrimination stop. Because we are in the mosque to pray and adore Allah the only one and not to be juge. If I offended someone please in the name of Allah forgive me. Thanks

I can relate to the sister, I am a African American male convert. I remember being on the road when the time for salah came in. Alhamdullilah I found a Masjid It was all Pakistani when I walked in I got the usual stare of(" Your here for our food our women or to beg us for money") I'm like saying to myself "No I just want to pray and get out of here as quickly as possible". I must admit Pakistani food is delicious especially the Lamb Karahi mmmmmm.

Dear Joker411, Thank you for your answer. If you are ready for a debate on Islam related to Black peoples, good. Though you haven't answer specifically my two questions, let me ask you these ones: (1) When you say you are "from north Central Africa", do you mean Central African Republic? (2) What do you know about the history of the beginning of Islam and of the Koran? (3) Can you tell me about the introduction and practice of Islam in the Central African Republic? (4) As you are recently converted to Islam, what were you before? Why have you left your former faith? (5) Do you speak, read, and write Arabic? (6) What branch of Islam do you belong to? Thank you very much.

Before Islam traveled to Iraq, Lebanon, Iran, Jordan, Syria, Islam traveled to Africa first. I like for all the Iraqis and Arabs to take a seat in claiming their lineage in beginning of Islam and leaving out African Lineage.

Ruksana Chowdhury You do not see the hypocrisy of this? Your niceness sounds like condescension! We as the children of God are always supposed to be kind, nice, generous and welcoming to all peoples. We are supposed to be colour/ racially blind when it comes to people of different races but the same faith. For we worship the same God as Muslims or Christians. If black Muslims are not welcome to Muslims of different races. How different are you to white Christians who do not want black Christians in their churches, places of work etc. Heaven and hell are not segregated by race. God did not invent racism. But I can understand man's expression/need for it to protect his/her racial identity, history, culture, language and religion.
